Asparagus is a case of consuming it fresh here as the frozen version just doesn't pass muster. That being the case we've got 3-4 months of daily asparagus to look forward to. I'll post a photo of the purple asparagus once the big ones come up. Their size is absolute weapon grade, and so much sweeter than the green ones.
Snap! We ate our first two spears of asparagus last night, one purple and one green. We haven't grown the purple one before and its flavour was a little sweeter and less nutty than the green. Both were heavenly and I will be patrolling the asparagus bed twice daily from now on.
