You can never have enough...
Jan, that's such a dammed shame about the Ukrainian family. Bureaucrats are idiots, & its our loss. When something like this happens, you just want to give them a good swift kick in the pants to wake their ideas up as bit.

Supposedly going to rain here, so I put the washing out - excellent chance it'll dry! Smile

Sorry to hear of all the problems your Ukrainian friends are having Jan W. Hopefully they can settle down and make a new life in Australia.

Apart from the health issues associated with those fizzy drinks I don’t know how anyone can afford them on a regular basis these days especially the big brand ones. The Christmas cakes I make soak the fruit in ginger ale and I was quite surprised at how much the price of a bottle had risen in the past year.

Have a healthy stevia plant and use the leaves to sweeten stewed fruit and make a refreshing lemon drink from it too. Ok there are bits of green in the finished fruit or drink but I don’t mind that and obviously visitors don’t mind either or are too polite to say anything  Smile

My stevia left me with a metallic after taste so I went back to honey...

OHH It’s been trial and error getting the amount to add right and am still experimenting. Also I think some people find that they don’t like it- a bit like coriander (which I don’t like) or Brussel sprouts which it seems that you either love or detest  Big Grin

I also like using honey and am extra lucky in that my sister has a hive so I get given quite a bit.

Want to share just one good news story about his time here - a young girl who is mildly autistic - bored with school so had dropped out - her Mum at first wasn’t happy at letting her have a go in the bakery - the Baker taught her pastry making and making the danish became her thing - he taught her patience and care was the secret - her Mum was in and out like a bantam hen - but the girl just flourished -she worked her butt off - her pastry was to die for - she learned to make curd and blueberry conserve -he taught her to make his grandmothers custard - a large restaurant had a regular order and were very impressed - offered her a job she is now producing stunning deserts - she has her moments but she hears the Baker telling her to sing her favourite song in her head .Her mother put together a presentation that went down to the MP he wasn’t interested .Baker had many successes who are all working but three didn’t make it .My son did a presentation to the other operators and others have opened up a training for kids who need a break so all is not lost .He even cooked a special stew each week to raffle off for funds to desex the stray cats in the park where he took the leftover pies every night to the homeless .Ozzie are lucky to get them .The boy loved fishing off the rocks down Perfume Point Venetian - I hope they move near the coast - he went up to Kinloch with my son and his family and caught a trout- he is reluctant to leave but is desperate to see his Dad

He sounds like a really unusual person Jan, not everyone could or would, take such trouble to help someone with Autism - such a shame they can't stay here. Idiot MP.

morning ladies Smile An early start for me as I have plants to put in before the rain comes later in the morning.

Aspartame gives me headaches too, I feel really hungover after drinking fizzy with that stuff. Now it's water for me. MrK makes a very yummy homemade lemonade base with our lemons and mint which I'll add it to water if I want something tasty.

Yesterday we were in Rotorua helping my sister-in-law prepare for her move next month. I came home with plants for the garden as well as a gorgeous two meter cane garden teepee. And here's me wondering how I could squeeze another climber onto the fence Tongue I'll move Buff Beauty onto the teepee into the space created by moving other plants earlier and put a new climber in her place after replacing the soil. So that's todays challenge along with some more weeding.

Happy happy birthday for yesterday, Lilith Heart

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Happy Belated Birthday Lillith.. Hope you were spoilt, or spoilt yourself.

Im hoping to be out at 9am mowing the bid square of lawn.. No way am I doing the whole thing today. But its amazing how long it is with spring growth.

Ive decided to ask if the landlords can get the Yukkas trimmed. I can't get in underneath them to mow without looking like a bleeding pin cushion. They are in the four corners of the section and in a garden along the garage.

I was norty yesterday. when I went to get my pills I got some deep heat. The night time one cos it didn't mention being on anticoagulants like the day time one did. It certainly helped my knee. I won't overdo it cos on reading online later Of course it does interfere like the daytime one... but the relief was soo worth it. And I'll tell my Dr and test my blood more often.

MrP wouldn't answer his phone last night.. really must have the pip lol.. Oh well until he takes ownership of his own wrong doings with his body he will have to lump it. I dont have time to listen to him blaming me and taking none of the blame himself.

Right I'll get a few things done and go out and play.

Have a fab day everyone

Didn't get much done yesterday, tooth fixed, food bought, did an hour of quilting when DD messaged and asked ifvI wanted to go to Spotlight with her so that was my afternoon done.
The merino silk that I purchased is crocheting nicely into a blanket its going to take a while.

Off up the coast for quilting group today hope to get binding stitched down.

Enjoy your day

Good morning.

The sun has disappeared and I see showers are on the way.

Belated happy birthday for yesterday Lilith.

Grocery shop today with not much else planned. Will get in a walk and a vege garden check over first.

Good luck with the yuccas Popeye ..  yucky things lol! To think they were a prized plant ... such a rampant, nasty thing in the garden!

Better get moving before the rain.

Enjoy the day all.

Boy it's hot and sticky outside, time for some inside things, I think. But the new plants are in and most of the weeds are out. It looks like I've lost a few dahlias thanks to all the rain. It's sink or swim in this garden.

I hate yukkas too, but MrK likes them, so they are in pots. It's one of the compromises we've made with the garden. He knows if he falls of his perch before me, they are the first thing in the garden to go lol.

oohhhh I see MrK has picked a heap of lemons... must be time for a fresh batch of his homemade lemonade concentrate.

Might research some climbing roses... I was thinking of Super Trooper and Azubis. Complete contrasts but each gorgeous in their own right. Or Ash Wednesday instead of Azubis... oh who knows lol.

Yeah - exactly right, 35 again. If you double that plus one or two more...Smile

Cheers for birthday wishes, had a good day. Youngest sweetie darling gave me a set of knives - somehow, I managed to cut myself on them while removing the plastic covering & eldest granddaughter tried to make me go to A & E. It wasn't that bad but bled a lot, looked worse than it was. I bet their two boys never forget that! Smile They were very entertained buy the sight of blood & their Mum running about with bandages & band aids!

Did the dreaded groceries earlier & knew there was something I'd forgotten but of course only remembered once I was home again - forgot to look for schmackos!

Popeye, if you have a wheat bag, try putting deep heat on & holding heated wheat bag on sore area for a while, it generally works for me.

Lol yes I realise that, but which ones.. cos it sounds like there are strips or something else.

Kiwimade

Which mouse sander do you use please. ?

I want to make over some bedside tables and I figure a little sander would help save the hands some.

Thank you Kiwimade.

They're dog treats Popeye, most dogs adore them & although you can still get schmacko straps, its the small ones we can't get here. Not in supermarkets anyway.

Westerland! Why didn't I think of that one! Another gorgeous rose.

Schamckos are doggy treats, popeye Smile Our boy loves them but has to play with them first.

Don't buy the Black and Decker mouse sander, it lasted all of five minutes before the point broke off. Took it back to Mitre 10 and they gave me my money back and took them all off their shelves. I replaced it with a Bosch and it's a tough little machine. Am very happy with it Smile
