I'm reminded as the mowerman mows the section in front (absentee owners) of his attention to the piece on our road front and outside neighbours. There's about 1x1.5sqm at the end of our concrete drive. Half a lawnmower width (probably a 20cm strip) is on our boundary which he diligently leaves, lol!

Ill finish my games now and then paint more afterwards.

Woke up at tui time this morning with half a poem in my head and a lovely sense of gratitude for a comfortable bed, a safe roof over my head, and the security of being born into a quietly civilised country unmarked by ongoing wars or excessively corrupt politics.
We really are some of the luckiest people on the planet.

morning ladies We also woke to the sound of the birds singing away. We don't have tui but the thrush... omg the repertoire that bird has is amazing!
We are so lucky to live here in spite of any hardships we may have. And at least our elections are over and done with in a flash, not drawn out over a long length of time.
Popeye, the lawnmower guy used to mow the lawn across the road, and he did an amazing job. I'm a bit worried at the price though but we shall see how that pans out. Our lawn is pretty straight forward with loads of room for a ride on.
The plan today is to do a bit of weeding, and I think a friend needs a ride to drop her car off for a WoF. I also need to drop this lawnmowing quote off to WINZ. And I have a few things for the op shop as well.
Yesterday I decided I wasn't going to buy any variegated thread for the dressing table runner and use what threads I have. I found a gorgeous sunshine yellow and have blended it with a 'winter white' to make my own version of a variegated thread. It's not a perle like I would usually use but it does the job and looks very pretty. Nothing like mixing colours
Happy crafting

Good morning.
It's a lovely day, hopefully more settled than yesterday.
We wake up to a happy blackbird ... I'd rather he started his chorus an hour later but I do enjoy seeing him and his partner on the lawn each day.
I think professional lawnmowers have to do a good job otherwise they won't get repeat work. There are lots of them around these days.
The American politics certainly dominating the news. Who knows which way it will go.
The movie Lee looks a good one, look forward to seeing it some day.
Baking this morning and the day is mine.
Enjoy the day all.

Oh that's good to hear. Well done on your win!
I'm a bit cautious about possible scams as I was nearly caught out on a Facebook one; I had to phone the bank immediately and cancel my credit card.

Morning everyone.
I cant hear the birds unless the doors and windows are open, and only if they are nearby.
Kiwimade your Dr could get the lawn done via the disability allowance. But you need to see the Dr and have him fill in the forms.
Yeah Outsider I got scammed a few weeks back. $111 taken, but the bank stopped my card which prevented them getting the $66 they tried for the next day.
Just watched breakfast re the Ginger Cat Muffin. such a heart breaking situation for everyone. But mostly the cat.
I dont see why we need to be subjected to soo much of the American election.
Need to do a very small shop today. Milk and butter so far lol.. Maybe a banana if they have started to ripen up. They were all totally green yesterday.
Dianne and I have decided we will go the rest homes Christmas Dinner, but will take our own lunch. They are only allowing 30 guests.. There are 60 plus residents, so only half a person each. But Di's older sister can be the one eating their food. And if they dont like that arrangement it will only cause more trouble for them.
Im achy all over at the mo, not sure why. But Ill have a peaceful day and see if it helps. Odd feeling.
Have a fab day all

Before I came here, where the landlord takes care of garden maintenance, I had an allowance for that included with my disability allowance. I just had to get a written quote and the usual doctor's certificate that it was essential, and it was all paid for. I think it is worth a phone call to check. There is nothing worse than stressing out about doing stuff you maybe shouldn't be doing anyway.
It is an entitlement KM, not a handout...
Bingo, popeye! Our thoughts are syncing again, lol.

I knew the lawn mowing would be covered under MrK's disability allowance even though it was me who needed it. WINZ were very receptive, and we now officially have a lawnmower guy Mind you, me needing to catch my breath before I could speak to the lady was a pretty good hint I couldn't mow lawns lol. MrK already had a medical certificate, so it was easier to have it under his name. It really doesn't matter who has it as all $$$ go into the same account. We've decided to keep it until I am back on my feet and can mow the lawn myself again. I don't mind mowing the lawn and would rather those $$$ are put towards anything else MrK needs.

I have to have someone to mow the dreaded back lawn now, too. I was organised by sweetie darling no.2 & third eldest granddaughter. And the lawn mowers remarked on how thick the grass round the back is & how fast to grows; they do a brillaint job. But I still do the front as its nowhere near as difficult & only takes 1/2 an hour.
Out first thing over to Pak n save for fish then down the road to the body shop & noticed some little sets of three small shower gels for around $23 I think it was. So as I usually get each granddaughter a shower from the body shop for xmas I'm now considering these instead as they're only $5 more than the ones I get for them, I'll see how the budget goes.
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

morning ladies It's lovely and calm outside, I might tackle some weeds today.
Thank goodness the election in the States is almost over, it's been a looooong haul. I know we see so much of it as whatever the outcome, it will affect us in some way. I just don't get how a convicted felon could be president.
MrK has decided he doesn't want the pull-up gadget on the bed so has dismantled it, ready for it to be returned. He is in two minds about the seat over the bath and will give that a little bit longer before he decides if he wants it.
Time to get moving, I'm at my best in the morning.

Morning everyone
The sun is out. Hopefully it will be a lovely day.
Yeah sometimes the tings that help us are more trouble than they are worth lol.. I dont like the stool in the shower. We brought it years ago when Mum was with us. It holds my towels well tho lol.
I went to mitre10 yesterday, and since I couldn't get a light I decided to buy some much needed tea towels. I didn't realise how few I had, and most had holes. So there are 20 new ones washed and dried on the airer, ill put them away later. I took the old ones out of the drawer so its nice and tidy in there.
Also got two more bags of wood pellets. Thats Im stocked up for the year on those too.
Off to the home today. Odd being a short week. No doubt we will hear how well or not the residents meeting went yesterday. Usually its just rediculous, they are too scared to say something against the home incase they get kicked out.
Have a wonderful day everyone

Good morning.
Lovely day out there. Heading for 22 degrees.
Trick or treaters were out in force last night. Last year only the brave few ignored the rain!
After nearly a year (empty) the house next door has finally sold so we are in for new neighbours.
Library run today ... a couple of books this time I rejected, will take a bit longer with choice this time!
The decorations are cut out and ready to stitch together and appliqué. Will spend some time in the garden later.
I remember my dad rejecting a few aids and I think DH would be the same ... is it a male pride thing
Enjoy the day all.

And sometimes those things are designed by people who don't actually use them. Which is probably why they come in such bloody awful colours!
I had fun yesterday, I took an old typewriter to pieces - well, undressed it might be a better way to put it - and gave it a good clean. And was delighted to find it went from really unusable to almost usable as a result, which is a great step forward. It is a friends machine, so now we can send it off to a repair man to do the really expert rehab, but I got to learn some new stuff in the process. I am really enjoying these machines, my family history project is well underway, and I am developing an aesthetic appreciation for the various models and their finer qualities. And quirks. I may be on the sidelines of a whole new world, lol.
I do like learning new things. Even if the process does make my brain hurt!

Morning all
Fine expecting brisk winds later today, I have difficulty vdeciding what to wear iin this transitional weather period you can guarantee via Input on lighter clothes we will get a cold snap.
Why do they make aids in such awful colours. I have foot drop that currently I manage but one day(when I am a frail old lady) I probably will need some assistance. They are ugly bulky black I want funky colours (foot stomp)
Slept in this morning changed sheets airing woolrest before making the bed up again.
Been out and collected my neds not sure what I will get up to today.
Have a friend calling g in for morning tea next week need to find vegetarian gluten free muffin recipe or similar so I have something to accompany the coffee. Some research required.
Enjoy your day

Well experimented vegan gluten free scones. They looked like little bricks did not rise - good thing I rolled out about 3cm thick. Crunchy on outside okish on inside edible with lashings of butter and raspberry jam.
Will not be repeating.
Next: found slice box mix might get a box and give it a go https://www.freshlifefood.co.nz/raw-zest...-slice-mix.
Got few days to sort it out my lemon yogurt cake might be doable using coconut yogurt
DS turned up with DGD2 this morning just as I put scones in oven he came with furniture wax in hand to wax my wooden chest. I just made a comment in passing last time I saw him that the wood was looking a bit dry gotta adult kids.
First of the month so have cleaned filters in washing machine, and dishwasher, oven on in pyrolytic mode as I type.
Will do range hood and vacuum filters tomorrow
Out for dinner tonight with friends who live up to coast
Been a good day so far
Think I might read for a bit just started Lianne Moriarty new book Here one moment I was surprised it turned up so soon as I was way down the library reserve list
