I found my lavender plant at the Warehouse, much cheaper than elsewhere and a very healthy plant. We visited Bunnings while in Hamilton this morning and came home with a cucumber plant, some lettuces and a couple of small things for the garden. We'll plant them after the Fluffy One goes home as she has started digging up the garden.

New Scoot arrived this morning and I took her for a test drive to discover any quirks. Bigger, higher, better ground clearance over drains and kerbs, fast, climbs hills like a dream, slightly better suspension, but awful storage accessories. I'll need to upgrade those, and she rolls backwards starting on hills - not a good thing, so will have to keep that in mind.

Funny thing happened though, I took my Adler typewriter with me to the cafe to lend to a friend who thinks she might like a typewriter for her journalling. I took it out of its case to show her and instantly attracted a small audience - some of whom had never seen or heard of a typewriter, let alone a vintage one, and never seen one working. The lady owner of the cafe came over, huge smile, elbowed me out of the way and took over - she was typist trained in Korea and boy, she played that machine like a maestro. Almost had tears in her eyes remembering a past life, lol.

I look forward to seeing what she thinks of my commie version!

Came home via the community garden and picked up a punnet of amaranthus to try in my own vegie pots. Should be interesting. And pretty, this one is a pink flowered variety...

That lavender plant I bought on impulse is brilliant, really large flowers & very prolific - there may be too much for the lavender bags but have picked & dried quite a lot so far.

Just finished putting nets over some of the branches on the cherry tree; the sentry bird had a bit to say on the subject so I reminded her/him that the deal is they get the top & I get the ones at the bottom..mind you,it could have been more that Madame Le Cat was 'assisting' me...

morning ladies The fog has lifted, and we are expecting a sunny day. Another day of keeping the hose on the garden, I think.

lol Lilith, the birds definitely like to be the boss in the garden that's for sure. We need to cover our blueberry shortly as the berries are starting to fatten. I also don't mind sharing our fruit with the birds, but the emphasis is on sharing!

I'll do a bit more weeding today, one big patch of weeds and some smaller bits and around the inside fenceline will be 'done'. It has been three weeks since I last weeded, and I can't believe how many had grown in that time.

My sister-in-law is calling in this afternoon and bringing the rose 'Kiwi' she has two of. I have finally settled on a spot for it The other day when out weeding, the whole garden smelled of Munstead Wood. It was just gorgeous. Such a shame it has been taken off the market. I guess people just don't like the older, thorny roses when there are so many newer, disease resistant roses out there.

I had to unpick some of the hardanger I've been working on as the placement of some of it was out of sync. I'll take a pic when I have finished this bit and post it.

The Fluffy One goes home tomorrow. I don't think she will be staying again as she tends to get under MrK's feet and he's worried he is going to be tripped over.

Lazy start this morning still tucked up been reading seems a pity to disturb the k9.

Had lovely  catch up with colleguesxI used to work with yesterday. Also managed to get buttonholes  made and buttons  sewn on the jacket ,oops better now and will get out of the naughty  corner 

Will buzz around with vacuum and wash the floors while DHnout walking the k9 then have wee project I want to sew up for DGS. DD and DGD1 coming for dinner tonight SIL is away for weekend.

Everyone gardens sound lovely

Morning beautiful morning again at the seaside - going to reach 30 so am hoping for a nice sea breeze - my brothers little staffi I am babysitting is very sad - my company obviously isn’t scintillating enough for her she has only moved off my brothers chair when she is busting for a pee
Reading about your lavender purchases reminded me of probably the worst holiday accomodation I have ever had - my Mum won 2 tickets on a craft tour to France - it was part of the prize for winning the NZ wool award with a beautiful knitted outfit that Twiggy bought that’s how long ago it was .Two days were to be spent at a castle we were to make lavender candles and soap .There was no internet way back then so we had seen this beautiful place in the brochure but it was really run down but very popular .They showed us to our room and showed us the toilet at the back of the room which didn’t actually have a door - just a curtain - what they didn’t say was the toilet was for all the guests in the wing - what a night - it was bad enough people continually knocking on the door - but the noise of other people going to the toilet was just too much - my sister could speak very good French so in the morning told reception to move us or we would sleep in reception - it was a dump couldn’t wait to leave

Morning everyone

There was a nasty dark grey cloud to start this morning. but its moved.

I love the smell of lavender, not the bees it attracts.

David told me he would bring me some hydrangea flowers, he brought a whole healthy plant. Sadly the heat was a bit much in the car. but most of the droopy heads are up again. Ill give it another day of sitting in water, then I dont know if I should chop off the wilted bits .. any ideas????? But yesterday it looked very sad. he knows I love white flowers, this has a ring of pink around the edge then white. there are some unopened flower on it.

The home was a bloody mess again.. but it simply comes down to them not telling us why things have changed. Ty[pical of the manager. I do wonder why she is there. The staff has to tell us and its not given in the way it should be. If they told us it would be much better.

Turns out tho they haven't even filled the extra 30 seats for the Christmas Dinner, so Dianne is going too.. It will be nice for Mum to have both girls there, and the elder wont help mum like Dianne does.

We have decided to have our own Christmas gathering, on Cams Birthday. We will ask them on Monday if we could please have an area to be able to do so. Menu so far is a roast lamb with roast veges. No one interested in greens hahaha, with Steamed pudding and custard, Fruit cake and Fruit mince pies.

I need to find some energy and get the front lawn done. But Im going to see if I can get the blade off and sharpen it properly. I will paint later

Got home to see the end of the Green Mile yesterday. It still make's me cry lol.

Good morning. 

It's a lovely day, the sun is shining on the star jasmine now out in full. No breeze at all. 

DH home yesterday so we had half a day out with various jobs that included coffee in a favourite cafe sitting next to an elderly dog same as our girl.  There are times we think "what if ...." especially when we also saw the same dog in puppy form the week before!

House cleaning this morning and the day is ours. I do have a pair of sale jeans that need taking up.  Watering up to date. 

One more Xmas felt creature to complete. I shall gift them and make a few more next year to hang on my tree. Christmas shopping completed with all GC wanting gift vouchers ... easy. 

Time to move.

I added a couple of rejected colour wave petunias to my plant family yesterday, a hot pink and a dark purple. I think they will share a big basket on my deck, and once recovered should make a hell of a show out there.

And another wee getting to know you scoot this morning, primarily so I can work on the parking strategy with her bigger body, lol...

Those petunas are very pretty, I saw some miniature petunas yesterday and was tempted to buy them.

I found a truly delightful lavender this morning at a friends house and scored a couple of cuttings. It has soft feathery green foliage and lovely delicate purple blue flowers on the longest wands I have ever seen. They dance and sway in the slightest breeze,it is the prettiest thing I have seen for ages. I will have to research it and find a name...

Not a lot happening today, I can't plant the new plants until tomorrow as the Fluffy One has started digging up new plantings. She goes home this afternoon all going to plan.

I have some rubbish to burn this morning before the wind picks up but otherwise will generally potter about. Am hoping to work a bit more on the hardanger later today.

No rain yesterday, and a really muggy night. I was awake for a couple of hours around 2am again, opening doors and sipping cold water, irritating because I really enjoy my eight hours!

And now it is blue and clear out there, when it is supposed to be hissing down. Oh well, Bunnings is good in rain or shine, and that is where I will be today, mostly in the plants bit but also looking for a bolt with a big plastic easily turned knob on the end to replace a stupid ordinary one on one of the changeable scooter connections - the one that swaps out stick and brolly for cat carrier - just in case. Saves fetching the pliers if I can turn it by hand...

Morning everyone

The sun is up and its already warm.

I woke up to a show on bravo, Rich kids go Skint. What an eye opener for the privileged ones. It makes me ask one Question. Why if you are poor do you live with mess. Put things away, it will look like you have more room. You have the time if your not working.. Ive never understood that. I know they might not be able to afford getting the rubbish taken away. but you can tidy it up and it wont feel so heavy on the shoulders.

I had my Own eyes opened yesterday. My friend in New Plymouth is in a state house. She has 2 bedrooms, a garage and no yard. She only pays $80 a week. $500 less than me. worked out that Id be feeling Bloody rich if I could get a state house. So Im going to phone this week. Im existing. not living. And even without the accommodation allowance etc Id still have between $250=$300 a week after bills are paid. I really cant believe it. No wonder she can afford to go out all the time ..

Got my second small piece done of the 5 piece set yesterday.. So Back to the Pretty pansies today after my housework.

The Hydrangea is looking wayyy better this morning. So Ill Possibly repot it later, tho Im temped to give it another couple of days to recover.

You know what I find irritating along those lines popeye? We pay by law 30 percent of our gross primary income, which is an affordable rent. But, stare house tenants pay 25 percent of their nett income... For bigger homes! It should be all the same formula across social housing. And there should be many many more social houses available, so everyone can access a liveable income v housing situation if they need it.

Meanwhile, I am very grateful to be one of the blessed! Best of luck getting on the list, it certainly makes things so much easier.

Morning all 
Heavy rain  overnight, overcast at moment but forecast  for warm and sunny this afternoon 

Vacuumed, filed the washing prepped couple pizzas  for ,unch. The rabble are coming to swim in "Nana's " pool later this morning I suspect this might become a regular thing. Might be grandad s turn to get in with them.

Started to prep a little travel car caddy for DGD2 it store 3 cars and opens out to a road with houses trees etc appliquéd  on. Went to trace the placement of houses pond etc and the fabric that came with kit is too dense and dark and couldn't see thru despite using LED light box on full blast. So cunning thought will trace it on using my Burda tracing carbon fabric just wouldn't take that either   so have put it aside will need to go get a piece that will work.

Traced off dress pattern new to me Australian  pattern company Pattern Emporium. They get good reviews  so will give it a go should be a fast project.

Wow I didn't know that.. Thats disgusting really.. It should be the same. Actually it should be less. You worked all your lives. My friend in NP has never worked that I know of and been in a state house all the time I've known her. So close to 30 years. 

The ones in Tauranga, When she arrived from Australia, her soon to be hubby had his own house, nearly mortgage free. well they Lost that. or rather she lost it. Now they have next to nothing.. Oh she has a $3k mobile phone.. she moans cos they are always poor.. I dont see how when they are paying stuff all for rent. 
But then they eat a lot of take aways and her fave meat, pork belly.  Lives the Champaigne lifestyle on the benefit.

That's why I think more social housing makes human lives better, saves lives in fact. There is a fascinating little film by Invisible People on youtube at the moment, about homelessness in Finland, and how they solved that issue - and it is all about safe social housing first, with the rest wrapped around it.

But it has to be valued. And for a lot of us it simply isn't...

Thats what I figured re my age and ethnicity. Hence deciding to get on the list now.  I know I could very easily live a better life, rather than existing which is how I feel now.  And oddly it would actually save the country some money lol. 

My aunt is the Daughter of a Māori chief. I wish I could use her as family, but only an Aunt by marriage lol. 

First step is getting on the list.. 

I was talking to my friend before, Housing NZ wanted her 3 bedroom house for a family, so they moved her into a 2 bedroom flat. But she said her old house went to a single woman and one child. lol

But Ill try never the less. And I know my life would be far better than it is now.
