Yeah...what could possible go wrong. I did though, have to wonder about the photo of  Kirsten Louelle Gafney, who despite  wanting more natural things looks to be all fake tan & toilet teeth - but to be fair, that may be just the photo.

There's supportable reasons for most of the measures she's proposing but they tend to get lost in the fog of mob mentality and lack of critical thinking of those that the MAHA persuasion suffer from.

Yep, exactly. Most of us would be in favour of no artifical stuff in food as far as is safe & practical but - Trump fans appear to have a different view altogether.

When you check the packaging on some of the factory made foods sold in the US, v the same product sold in Europe the differences in regulatory frameworks become more obvious. There are chemicals served up to US buyers that European nations banned outright decades ago...

No wonder some voices are calling for change.

The PFAS scandal and BPA are my biggest concerns, but literally most forms of plastics contain chemicals that are not exactly good for your health.

The PFAS scandal and BPA are my biggest concerns, but literally most forms of plastics contain chemicals that are not exactly good for your health.

One enduring memory of a point made by Meriel in that book is that pesticide safety and residue levels have more to do with expected levels remaining on crops after spray application is made as recommended on the pesticide label's instructions. The connection between that and the level of health risk to humans (and livestock) is loose at best and definitely doesn't take into account the synergist effects of exposure to multiple toxins used in food production which is very much part of modern life's environmental landscape.

The effects of many poisons can be very much increased when other toxic input exist simultaneously. One prime example is for Hi-Cane which is used to promote bud burst in kiwifruit and apples. It is one of the most poisonous agrichemicals used in NZ and combine that with a couple of beers after Hi-Cane and 'Hi-Cane flush' results as your body attempts to rid itself of the toxins you've absorbed.

Most people just don't realise what chemicals are used conventionally grown produce systems.

Yes, and then the other issue is that many of these toxins bio accumulate in your body and have a long half life as is the case with PFOA.
I heard a little about hi-cane a while back, there has been a bit of talk about it in recent, the ironic thing is its used as an alcohol deterrent drug if you please!
I dont know what else they spray on kiwifruit orchards, but it was quite a common occurrence to smell this cabbage like odour when driving past kiwifruit orchards in TePuke, i don't know if this was the same stuff or not, but i didnt think it could be too good whatever it was.

It was an excellent movie, if also sickening. It just confirmed for me yet again that having too much money is as bad for humans as having too little money...

Yeah i heard a fair amount on PFOA, but did not know its extent or the seriousness of the issue until I watched dark waters.
Im still concerned how some of the so called "safer" PFAS are still being used on clothing such as goretex, im not sure if they are all going to be phased out entirely from what I can tell.

Add to that the use of formaldehyde as a fabric dressing (anti-creasing agent) on a lot of imported clothing and you have a toxic environment enveloping you that increases together with skin absorption rates as body temperature rises. So many people suffer from scalp, underarm and groin irritations but fail to connect the dots in regards to their cheap beanies and underwear.

Our company sells a lot of clothing and fabric (which are dressings free) to customers, or more commonly their kids/grandkids, with skin inflammatory conditions.

Dilution (i.e. reducing the contamination level by blending it with pure water) is the cheats' way out. It wasn't okay to do this with Chernobyl contaminated meat by adding it to 'good' meat, and then mincing it, and it's not okay to use the same practices in this case. It should be fully on the manufacturers and users of these chemicals to correct and pay for their contamination.

Now that it's becoming more well-known that overall we probably don't have much more time for a great number of people because of climate change etc I predict that there will be more and more short cuts and kludges/bodges done in many areas to make-do just in the meantime.
