Yes, it seems that our delighful & benevolent govt is to 'look' at superannuation, saying that it 'needs an overhaul'...I suspect that this will NOT involve any increase.
Aren't they just wonderfully resourceful - always thinking of new ways in which to help people. Mainly people like themselves & usually to the detriment of those on low incomes...

And no doubt 'action on the pension age' isn't going to involve lowering the age at which we become eligible. Probably just as well really, any announcement of this govt helping superannuitants might very well trigger multiple heart attacks across the country...

But with any sort of luck this just may be the thing which triggers Winnie to throw a massive berky...let it be so.

Every government raises this issue. And quietly forgets about it, because it is in the too hard basket. Putting a means test on it like any other welfare benefit - which it is - would upset too many of its own support base, and raising the age though sensible is also fraught with negative political blow back.

Meantime, we continue to have one of the best super systems on the planet. And I am very grateful for it. But then, it is my only source of income.

I'd rather see that than the age raised, too many impoverished elders miss out now due to shorter livespans, especially those with heavy manual labour employment backgrounds. And let's face it, those are the sorts of jobs AI will not replace, but that the community utterly depends upon.

That would make sense, as long as it can be ring fenced somehow to prevent future meddling politicians making 'improvements' to it, which might mean making it all far worse for those who rely on it.

Better than what's there now. As long as politicians can be legally prevented from 'improving' it by moving the age for it being available to all slowly but steadily to a later & later age.
