An old friend from TM has been in touch to tell me she has terminal cancer. I will miss her posts on my farcebook page, but I am so glad to have known her and to have had those conversations over the years.

I am reminded I would rather have cancer than dementia...

So am I, but my sadness is tempered by the fact she turns 80 in a couple of weeks.

I think she is being very realistic about the whole thing, she tells me she is completely at peace with it. That is the advantage of having a functioning mind at our ending I think.

I agree, I would rather still have a functioning mind and die from something else.

Dianne has finally accepted that this will be mums last.. They are giving her morphine and if she is still with us on Monday they will put a pump in.

Mum was cheerful today, confused at times. She hasn't eaten anything since breakfast yesterday. But we are keeping the fluid's up.

With the help of the nurse who is one of the few wonderful ones there we have talked about the end of care, and Dianne will use the same undertaker that I did. I told her I would go with her to get the Funeral grant money, which mum is entitled to and everyone should use it. Insurance or not.

Mums Sister Aunty Bub (Norma) and her daughter finally came. Aunty bub is 96 and still living on her own. Her hubby has been gone for 50 years. Pity she left but it so late.. But they have realised this will be the last. It was funny tho when Mum dismissed her and told her to go home and have a sleep lol

I managed to get Dianne to come down to have lunch together, to give her a break.

I came home with two new dresses. Caron, Colleens daughter gave them to me. One is a little big but ill throw a couple of darts in and it will be good.

Dianne still wants to have the bbq tomorrow so its still on at this stage. I said to keep it on if she can. I always felt doing Normal stuff at this time helps.

Its very dark with rainy clouds, but its not letting go yet.

Its always hard when we lose people. And yes, having a functioning mind makes all the difefrence.



I'm starting to think that hospices should have a part of their premises for those who wish to legally end their suffering; it must be very hard for those are in hospice care who want to but are prevented by hospice policy, & so have to go elsewhere.

One explanation could be that politicians in general have big mouths but are quite stupid and can't see the full picture.

Somebody voted in this bunch of idiots so maybe there is lots of stupid around, more than likely actually.

BBQ is off. she asked if I minded.. Of course I didn't. Im happy to go with the flow of what ever she wants to do.

I quietly gave her the number of the same undertakers that I used for MrP and were used for both my Neighbour's.. And she's a cheeky one, she said I should be getting commission lol.

Aunty Bub says she wants a magic pill. I said unfortunately I know in Aussie it takes several drs and different lawyers to get that magic pill. My cousin looked into it.. I told her I am one of the lucky ones who can end my life without anyone being in trouble, or having to fill lawyers pockets for my freedom of choice.

I knew Aunty Bub and her Daughter when my mother was still alive. They helped Mum run Senior Citizens Club.. she told me I look years younger now. She was shocked at my weight loss but reckons its taken years off me too.. she's not the first, but it was Nice to hear it.

Dianne went to take the paperwork to the Nurse. So I was sitting there stroking Mums hair, and she grabbed my hand pulled it down and kissed it. I assume she thought it was Dianne. But it was lovely.

I know two others that passed today, one 6 years ago and my Uncle 8. If I had one wish, I hope Mum gets a day that doesn't have anyone's birthdays, Anniversaries or anything like that. She deserves her own day.

morning ladies Another lovely day on its way

What an awesome photo, zquerty. I bet her family treasure it. The funding for the children's palliative care runs out in June. Simeon Brown is 'looking into it'. I think it runs on donations with little help from the government. Ridiculous and callous that they need to go begging for it.

No plans for today, we'll go with the flow. Our neighbour has said we can have some apples off her tree so we will grab a bucket full for the freezer. It might just be a day peeling and cooking apples lol.

Morning all 
Another lovely day

We have been watching the fruit on the pear tree  outside our lounge growing and ripening up nearing time to pick a few.

House chores for me soon then street morning tea  we take chairs, drink and plate to share and sit out on our neighbours driveway fun  got some ginger crunch that I made this past week to share 

Got the big blocks completed yesterday  and have decided that it needs more so have fished in stash and cut out fabric will get on to sewing  that  up this afternoon

Morning everyone

Alot of fruit being processed these days. I still have the pears for mum but they are sooo hard I dont think I will even be able to cut them... For a plant man, and that's his business he knows nothing about fruit.

Caron brought Green grapes from home in yesterday, and David brought some. The difference was amazing. I haven't eaten grapes since I was a kid. I always said I ate a lifetime back then. I brought some of Carons home and that was my dinner. lol

And Madam thinks they were nice too.. she's a nut when it comes to fruit lol. Should have guessed she would like them since she likes sultanas too. But I dont let her have them.

Have to do some washing and put the recycles in the bin. and the litter bucket..

Ill be going up to see Mum at some stage. Taking some flannels. I find it a peaceful act to be wiping, stroking and just generally trying to be calming for the dying.. I rubbed my stepfathers back for 2 hours after he passed.

Geeze families can be utter idiots. One of Dianne's nieces visited mum in Hospital. Her father, Di brother told his daughter if she did there would be no contact from him to her... what he forgets is the women in that family are strong. she told him no one would keep her away from her grandmother.. so not only will he be losing his mother but he has lost his daughter. I hope I meet her.

Mum loves flowers , so now she has a Gerbera, sunflower, Caron brought in the small multi headed purple umm sort of looks like a cross between a daisy but they look like they would dry like a straw flower. Then David took in a Pink Orchid.

Dianne and I both spoke to Annie and asked them to please learn to get on. The Calming effect of Mum wont be there. We hope to take Colleen down to mums room. if she wants to go. Im a crazy driver but one of us will get her there. she may chose to just remember her as she was.

Well I never knew that existed. It does sound right for me. And certainly been through enough death, in all manners of ways. I will look further into it.. As fiesty as I get when things are bad for people. Im often come to for advice, support and being honest. I tell it like it is. I feel people need honesty. And they know thats what they will get from me.

I  prefer their ginger marmalade, now that Barkers hace stopped making their excellent ginger & mandarin one,dammit.

Madame le Cat was involved in another brawl this morning; didn't see it but heard it, somewhere over the back fence. I called her & she eventually  turned up & has been very subdued ever since. She's spent most of the day inside which is unusual for her.


That could be just the thing for you, Popeye, worth looking into anyway.

Roses is a great product; we love Barkers as well. I love love love Barker's cherry jam and refuse to share it

I've decided to have a go at making hummus. It doesn't sound too hard to make and we love it.

MrK has pickled onions on the go as well as more tomato relish. Our lovely neighbour bought over the last four peacharines off her tree for us to enjoy. Sent a message to our friend who planted the tree to show her how well it is doing. We have quite the garden community here, lots of fruit and veg swapping

I made hummus with beetroot, it was a glorious colour and tasted great. The beauty of making it is we can vary the garlic to our taste, or lemon, or ginger, or beetroot!

I tried Barkers Lime Marmalade, but it was too runny. Even my own lime marmalade is too runny. I need the squish factor of Roses, lol...
