#1
Hanif Kureishi (not writing about Luxon but spot on nonetheless):

"We've replaced the search for knowledge with the pursuit of metric-driven self-optimisation. The power of the narcissist is always based on exclusion, oppression and humiliation, sucking the life out of others and using it for their enhancement."

Hanif Kureishi, born in Bromley, London, together with David Bowie, Billy Idol, Siouxsie Sioux and others, they were all of what is known as the Bromley Contingent, I was born there as well but I got taken to Africa by my parents and missed out on exciting times in post war London unfortunately.

It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

Following his terrible accident Hanif set up a blog at Substack, which is well worth subscribing to and helps support him.
