This is some of Mums knitting on display at Art Deco - we donated a lot of her work to the museum- there were beautiful long fine knitted gloves that went with the outfit - hopefully haven’t been misplaced
She wore it to a soirée held at the A&P society - she was hopeful one of us would wear it at our weddings - unfortunately none of us inherited her body shape !

Reminds me of the baby shawl my grandmother knitted for me, in one ply, it could pass through a wedding ring, which she delighted in showing me...
Such skills are a lifetime in building. Unfortunately I spent mine doing other things, lol...

Beautiful Jan ... lovely the outfit has been preserved.
1 ply! That would have been a painstaking exercise! 2 ply fiddly enough, but oh so light and soft.

Utterly ridiculous in truth. I was terrified to use it. I suspect my daughter was too when I passed it on to her. Not that I would ever have told my grandmother that...

That brought back a memory Hunni - she often would run her knitting through a ring - she was very meticulous - would undo the last row that had been on the needles overnight until somebody made her something very like the cables you use now with screw in knitting needles and she would thread it on the wire overnight
I am sure she was thankful when we played up as she would shut herself in her room and craft while we ran wild until Dad arrived home -

Lovely work in that shawl Jan.
Been out this morning to get a new toaster as mine turned up its toes yesterday; luckily I had the trusty old spare to tide me over. Naturally they didn't have their cheapest one did they dammit, (much to the disgust of my Scots ancestry ) so got the next cheapest one..
Its going to be hot & muggy again here today, much like yesterday but hopefully without thunder & lightning.
On my way out this morning i was cutting through the park when I spotted a familiar dog so went over to say hello - she's an older dog who prefers to walk off the lead & is now getting slower so the walk takes a while. her human says that when she goes they'll get another rescue dog.
I could readily recognise her anywhere but her human not so much..oh well.

Lovely shawl Jan definitely an heirloom piece.
Finished sewing the rows on quilt so now have a flimsy next step sandwich and quilt

Beautiful knitting, Jan Knitting using fine ply seem to be a dying art, everyone seems to want something done quickly or store bought.

And easy care, which hand made wool garments are not. Still, those who know better will always love yarn and the things it can make.

That must have taken ages Jan.
We used to have a dress which was white crocheted cotton of some kind, my Grandmother had made it for Mum years ago.

morning ladies Rain again this morning by the looks of it. Can't complain lol but it does mean more weeding.
I'll do a recycling run this morning to the transfer station and deal to some more convolvulus in the garden. That stuff grows a mile a minute. Other than that, we will potter along as we do
Happy crafting

Morning everyone
Wet here too Yay.
A day out of the world yesterday.. Apparently I take over everything so I have decided after Friday, I wont go to the home for a while or forever.
After Lunch.. I will apologise for doing all I have done for them all. And thinking about it, it is a lot.. I will also ask the Fat Head for Bobbies Pictures back that he was going to take to Bobbie, before Christmas.
I talked to Dianne about it yesterday and she suggested a break. She is taking one too.. If I go back is another story. But if he wants to rule the roost he can have it.
I will raise my Glass at 9-30 this morning as that is when Mum is being cremated.
Have a good day
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

Someone much wiser than me said we cannot control what others say or do, nor can we know why they do that. All we can control is our response to it, and that is the extent of our responsibility. You get a lot of pleasure from being with this group popeye, and they from you, so don't throw that away forever because of one person's silliness.
Contractors on the park this morning, my flat is filled with the scent of new mown grass, and lit by fresh sunlight. Nice after a few silver days. The cicadas are out in force, I have nothing on my to do list for today, so I am going to start a new book under the sun umbrella and just enjoy my world with all its blessings.

You are right Hunni.
It wont be forever. Thats not my style. but it will be a while.
I text him and asked for Bobbies pictures. And he can make payment for the walker he asked to buy from me.
But I will be staying away. Until Im good and ready. The others know what he is like.. he needs to know how he affects us all when he is drunk.
But I need to step back, for me.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

I learnt something practical yesterday. It's possible that everyone else already knows this but I will nevertheless pass it on.
Our dishwasher, a no-frills Bosch, was playing up and we had an appliance repairer look at it. The first thing he noted was that we don't use rinse aid and instead use the tablets with rinse aid built in. He said that this practice messes up the timing programme and it is far better to use powder plus rinse aid. So we got these things, filled up the rinse aid dispenser and when I turned it on the beginning length was 2.40 hrs instead of the 2.45 hrs that it has been showing from the beginning. It is now purring away showing a much reduced completion time and I have every hope that the dishes will emerge clean and dry instead of wet and oily as happened a few days ago.

I didn't know that Olive, mind you we don't have a dishwasher unless you count me
Stepping back for a while may be a good idea, popeye. Maybe visit once a month instead of weekly.
Recycling done and dusted and MrK is cooking the apples our neighbour gave us. We munched on her peacherines and ommmgg they are so good. MrK wants to try and grow one from the stones. This will be interesting lol. The sunflowers are beginning to drop their seeds so maybe in spring there will be quite a few sunflowers. Awesome as I can plant them where the soil can use their root system to loosen it all up.

I saw a fabulous little reel yesterday, about American birds and sunflowers. Apparently the seeds can ferment in the sun, and when the heads droop and dry the remaining seeds are a bit alcoholic. And the birds love them, get drunk, and fall asleep on the back of the downfacing heads. So this sunflower farmer was walking through the drying plants and picking up these sleepy little birds and they just lay there in the farmers hand. It was magical, and not just because those birds they have over there are so pretty...
Good luck to Mr K and his peach stones. I know it works, my trees are the proof. This Autumn I am setting nectarine and apricot stones in pots, and one for cherries, though I suspect cherries might be like apples in that they do not breed true, unlike the peaches, which usually reflect a parents qualities. It doesn't matter though, for me a tree is a gift, we need more of them.

That makes sesnse Popeye; having a bit of a break isn't a bad idea & gives everyone time to think calmly.
Out early to get dogbiscuits which were down to $20 this week also needed paper towels so because you get one minecraft card with each $30 spent, I managed to make it up to the $30 by getting peas & also some tissues whch I don't need but a granddaughter might & when I got back the lawn mowing people were just starting so good timing for once.
When the Minecraft thingy promotion ends I'm going to post them to the wee boys - I checked with Granddaughter & they love getting mail so that'll be a nice surprise for them.
