Thank you for the birthday wishes - my non existent birthday according to Robie - so he arrived at my birthday luncheon with he claims is an appropriate cake ! Told him it brought back many childhood memories of being fearful of everyone forgetting my birthday as there was no 29th February on the calendar - had a lovely seafood lunch at The Mission - would have loved the recipe for the watermelon salad -

Happy Birthday Jan.
A friend in CHCH has a leap year partner too. Not sure how old he is.
WINZ are idiots.. But the Dr shouldn't use auto check , he put New Clothesline not Dryer. So I had to phone and get a new letter.
Think Im the wrong colour sadly. and I shouldn't say that but I feel like it today.
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

WINZ staffers are operating under a new policy directive popeye. One that says get tough, no leeway, all boxes must be ticked. It's not you, it's their jobs.

Todays one was the worst I've ever struck, Waited 90 minutes for a call back and she didn't want to help. Just wanted to make an appointment .
Told her getting into their building is hard for me. Either steep stairs or a long steep ramp.
Don't think she wanted to do her job really

morning ladies We have some nice cloud cover this morning, perfect for germinating lawn seed.
I was in our WINZ office the other day and a man who had moved from Auckland commented on how lovely our WINZ staff are compared to Auckland. I know there shouldn't be any difference, but I think living in a small town makes things easier. And you can't 'hide' in a small town, everyone knows you.
Today I need to patch a few holes in the lawn I missed yesterday and keep watering the seed. If I have the oomph, I'll do some housework. Hopefully it will rain and I won't need to water three times today
Happy crafting

Morning everyone
The sun is up, that's about it lol. Not sure what we are in for today. Missed the weather.
I agree about the smaller areas being nicer. Our Best Case manager was in Tokoroa. Even crochet her a baby blanket and some toys when she had her first baby, who is probably 25-26ish now lol.
Gave myself a telling off last night. And have got some listings to do on FB. Im not farting around with trade me for stuff that needs to be picked up.
Hardest part will be getting myself away from the TV.. Have totally enjoyed all the Kapa Haka.. My friends whanau are on just before 3pm.. Which is great cos I have the BBQ to go to about 4pm.
So I wont see who wins, but I will see their performance. Mum was Tainui and they have just performed.. Tainui weren't offering to help when it came to Mums funeral costs. She was an 8th. Ill get my friend to text me when the winners are announced tho.
Have a fab day everyone

Fine breezy
Just finished the Saturday deep clean bathrooms, and wash floors. Today is first weekend of month so its filter cleaning
Done range hood, just vacuum, dishwasher and washing machine to go. I have set times to do these chores otherwise I forget
Tracing patterns off for DGD's today might get them cut out and sewing started
DH on Gk9 sitting tonight as DD family away .
KM hope your grass seed takes off and the birds don't get too much of it. The gardeners here commented that the grass that they replanted outside of our fence has taken really well compared to the rest of the walkway Lol had to tell them that DH added more soil and seed along with a bit of fertilizer. We don't have to worry about watering as the system comes on every night at 8.50. We have to make sure the door is closed otherwise the k9 goes out to play a soggy dog not good at that time of night.
Enjoy your day
It's fun to have fun but you have to know how

I also have set times to do things for the same reason, mica lol.
Fingers crossed the seed takes. It's the Tui brand and has an orange coating to deter the birds. We've been watching and so far, the birds have left it alone. The last time I threw grass seed around the coating was blue and the birds loved it lol. I've put extra soil down with the seed to fill the holes made by the tree and the dead broad leaf weeds I killed earlier in the summer.
Time to go and water again... this better be worth it

Beautiful day in the Bay today - great day for the cruise ships - summer is nearly over
My Grandaughter just brought me a lovely little bucket of tea from a new Bubble tea shop that has opened - not sure if I like the tea - it’s got all sorts of things floating in it - but it’s very cute marketing
PaknSave send out surveys periodically - some of the replies are unbelievable can only think their children answer it for them - the computer goes through the replies and pulls out anything unusual

Hoping for fresh fish for tea - my brother has put his kontiki out so hopefully he is lucky - there has been a lot of fish caught lately which is a good sign that things are getting back to normal after Gabrielle

morning ladies Please, let the clouds stay, it was lovely having a cool start to the day yesterday.
lmao Jan, the things people write in surveys, too funny. I haven't tried bubble tea, just the sound of it doesn't appeal to me at all. One day I will so I can actually decide if I like it or not.
More lawn watering today. I was watering yesterday and there were clouds of those little copper blue butterflies. I haven't seen so many of them for years. They were thirsty and were drinking from the damp soil.
We're going to have an easy day today, neither of us slept well last night. There is a stray (dumped?) cat hanging around and the Furry One spent some of the early hours chasing it off. It's been eating the neighbour's cat food. I haven't seen it, but our neighbour says it's an entire male, a beautiful big grey. If it insists on hanging around, I might borrow a cage from the vet and see if I can catch him before the Furry One does. We occasionally have people dumping their cats out here. Makes us all so angry at their laziness.
Happy crafting

Good morning.
Almost clear, blue sky ... expecting a hot day.
Poor cat KM, some humans are a***s, I make the mistake of looking at the local FB Lost and Found page ... upsetting to see the obvious dumped/left behind cats
Lol Jan, 3rd world problems for some people! We noticed a whopper of a cruise ship in port yesterday ... no thanks to that sort of travel!
No plan today, watering up to date thanks to the rain. I'm still getting beans, a hand full of blueberries every few days and a few passion fruit yesterday. The feijoas have also started dropping.
Enjoy the day all.

My Rose had a taste for bubble tea, but the sago thing - it is sago isn't it, that makes the 'bubbles'? - put me right off! Being a 50s child that stuff is too reminiscent of frog spawn, lol...
We had some awful food back then. Brains. Tripe. Sago. Tinned spaghetti on scone base pizza. Though I have to confess the pizza was edible, so long as Mum added pineapple...

Morning everyone.
Sunny here.
Had a lovely time at the BBQ last night. The snobby Daughter in law didn't even say hello lol.. But I had been warned so didn't expect it.
Paul is a Butcher amongst other things and he did lamb with a mint crust topping. I dont like Mint but it was beautiful. They sent me home with garlic bread, 3 pieces of sirloin steak and they're not small and some mini muffins.. Kids had a blast in the pool. It was 32 degrees on their deck.
Sat outside watching the clouds until it started getting dark. Turned out one of the families there knows David, so they got warned. lol.
You can see The Sky tower, Manukau City and the new Mormon Temple from their deck. They got an awesome property with ever changing views.
Unfortunately Dianne showed me a new game page and well yeah I turned the lights out at 1am lol. It was finding the hidden objects. and Man they are sneaky. The biggest one had 1300 items.. Its good tho lol.
Dianne gave me two more Jackets.. I feel very honored. She has tried selling them for a couple of years. 5 wool jackets for $70 for the lot, with no takers.. I said they are probably worth hundreds each.. Popel are buying blankets and turning them into clothing. We dont understand why they arent selling... but I know I will be wrapped up warm for years to come.
Have a wonderful day everyone

lol@ the sago description, so very apt!
And I agree roma, cruises are not for me either. I see them as big floating petri dishes.
Glad you had a good time, popeye It's always nice to get out and about to socialise for a bit.
Our daughter phoned devastated. The cat we gave her as a kitten 13 years ago had a heart attack and died this morning. She had a good life with our daughter and her family, better than we could give her with the Furry One. She was a rescue and could have ended up anywhere.

Once the sting of grieving dies back a little, I hope your daughter saves another cat km. It is a lovely thing we can do for abandoned fur people. And they give so much back...

Brains, Tripe & sago - I remember them well...
Not a chance I'd eat any of them now but they were very common back then.
