I wouldnt even know if we have anything like that near here Mica.
I will do some investigating.. I could Possibly ask David to pick the bed up and take it to the oppy, but Im trying to avoid going down that path.
Hmmm wonder if my friends hubby would pick it up in the work van, but Id rather it was her. Another David that I dont want to see lol
They told me I couldn't, so I did.!!

Maybe one of the local churches would have a home for them? Our local Catholic has people who volunteer with St Vinnies, and they often know of families in need. My other suggestion would be to put a price on them, not a lot, but enough so people are invested in collecting. But it is easier in a city suburb.
Hang in there, it is a hideous job downsizing and moving, but once done the new place is going to be such a good life change for you!

morning ladies A misty start to the day again this morning.
Charities don't always want to take beds and mattresses due to health concerns. But hang in there popeye, someone will take it. OHH's suggestion of pricing it is a good one. People could think there is something wrong with it if it's free and as OHH says, payment puts a value on the bed and makes it an investment they don't want to lose. It's also why pets should be for sale and not free.
Back out in the garden for me this morning. I have almost done the worst of the pruning and digging. I'll move the begonias this morning to under the tree and there are a couple more clumps of iris' to cut back.
The lawnmower people come today thank goodness lol.
Happy crafting

I've given up giving away stuff to people from our local community FB pages. Someone will ask for, say, clean jars, I offer them, give the address and almost always they don't turn up then when asked give a weak excuse of having something else to do. I now just take foodstuffs to a community food shelf and other stuff to a community op shop. I don't understand why some people are so unreliable when they are essentially asking for a favour.

Good morning.
Sunny out there, if a little cooler start. A hot day expected again.
I find that with bigger stuff eg beds, the problem is in the buyer finding a method or means of pick up. We were gobsmacked once with the way a queen sized slat bed and mattress were contorted to fit into a people mover car. We wondered if the mattress was ever the same again after being folded in half, lol. The wife was somehow also fitted into the vehicle!
No plan for the day ... a good session in the garden yesterday, with spade work needed to get an oregano plant dug out. Bush type herb plants can sure spread far and wide. The first of my herbs to be moved from the vege garden ... should leave a lot more actual vege growing space.
School run done for the morning, now to get things done around here.
Enjoy the day all.

Morning everyone
The sun is up.
Im going to try and leave yesterdays crap there. Ive been trying to sell it for ages.. lol.
Shopping this morning then Im meeting up at the new house to get the key so Dianne and I can go there tomorrow and measure the areas. That way I can add more instructions to the boxes. Anything that saves me moving things is worth doing.
Started my little picture yesterday. Got all the black done. Alot of people dread it and leave it till last, Im the opposite I get the worst part done and out of the way. That way I enjoy doing the rest...
I do that with food too lol. Eat what I have to eat first and then enjoy the rest. A friend thought I was leaving the skin off my KFC once and went to grab it I said noo way thats the best for last lol
Have a fab day all

We also have the, ohhh.... you're rural, can you bring it into town? Yes, I mentioned that in my advert, and we are only 10 minutes out of town. You would be travelling that distance to go to the supermarket. And no, I won't be bringing it into town, I rarely go into town. For heaven's sake, it's free, the least they can do is come and get it.

My spring bulbs all unearthed from last years pots and paper bags and repotted - except for the tulips which will go into the fridge. I will have pretty pots for Africa this Spring, mixed bluebells, grape hyacinths, lachenalias, daffs and the garden wild ones as well. Half a big bag on mix already used up, I will leave the strawberries till the weekend I think. I have earned a rest in the cool breeze by the front door., with tea at the ready. A couple of Sikh contractors have arrived to do something at the refurb unit, I am deeply jealous of the new kitchen, new vinyls, new bathroom, don't know what these guys are doing, might be the heat pump installation or the fans, it must be close to finished now. Just as another of our flats comes vacant, and awaiting another complete refurb. Oh joy, the portaloo and waste bin will be back...
Never a dull moment round here!

My plans for the day went out the window around 7.30-ish. I went to start washing before I got dressed & had breakfast, turned on machine & loaded in washing, turned on tap - at which point the top of the tap came off & water showered everywhere - including the ceiling. And of course including me. Drenched. I tried to put the top of the tap back but it wasn't happening, so went out to turn water off at the main.
Couldn't find the wretched thing so went next door to the nice neighbours & he came & managed to turn it off for me, thankfully.
Plumber arrived ( obviously, this had to be the day when they're doing something or other to the power poles in our street, which means half a dozen trucks, makeshift traffic lights & several million road cones, some of which will no doubt be left behind) & managed to fix it with a new tap which looks extremely modern.
Managed to get washing eventually by which time I'd run out of energy & decided not to do the baking I'd intended to do; it can damn well wait till tomorrow.

But wait...there's more. The fates hadn't finished with me; light in laundry was on & stayed on when switched off. Sent message to sweetie darling no.2 who's working nearby this week so he came & had a look at it, said he thinks water may have got into it in the roof (the manhole's in laundry) but it needs an electrician.
Oh joy...so apparently some time in the next 4 or s0 hours, the electrician will be here...
That's really annoying Popeye, had a similar problem a while ago so know how annoying it is.

Morning everyone.
Too dark to see what the weather is doing.
Up early cos I have a slightly busy day on.
Taking cookbooks to my friend and she leaves at 9-30 am to an appointment so Ill see her first, then pick up More pills that have taken 3 calls and a visit to get.
Then Im taking the foam topper pad to a gentleman who has been looking for one for a long time.. I say looking which is sort of a play on words since he is Blind.. His carer contacted me last night. Even offered to pay but Im paying it forward and giving it to him. So Ill drop that off then come home.
Dianne is coming in, bringing rolls for our lunch, Ive got hot cross buns for a treat and armed with the tape measure we are going to measure the house.
Just wrote a note, Ill take my two folding chairs so we can actually sit while we eat.. On the front porch is my choice lol.
I got heaps of boxes at the supermarket yesterday and David brought some more around and this huge crate thingee..
I asked him if he had a spare hug going.. which he straight away opened his arms.. Some men are good huggers. MrP was one and David is too... Which is funny really cos they are/ were both Davids lol.
I understand now why the solo ladies at senior citz used to seek MrP out for a hug. You just need them now and then.
Im going to try and spend more time with Missy over the weekend.. Shes unsettled, which doesnt surprise me. She knows when Im stressed, worried and sad. Which is all hitting at the mo.
Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies We're supposed to have showers this morning, bring it on!
OHH, your spring garden is going to be gorgeous!
Missy will be unsettled as she sees you packing everything, popeye. Might pay to organise a cat cage for her if you don't have one already. Our vet's cat cage is always being leant out.
Housework for me today, time to get back into the routine of things. There is still a bit to do in the garden but I'm winning this I have some dahlias, and iris leaves to go on the compost this morning. And the zinnias have finished
so they can also be composted. I'll miss their bright orange cheeriness over the winter. Has anyone tried collecting petunia seed? I have a 'Matariki' and want to try growing it from seed.
An appointment for the cardiac clinic arrived, things are finally moving along It will be so good to have this all done and dusted.
Time to get cracking, happy crafting

Morning all
Raining
Spring gardens organised already I am impressed.
Not much on today thought we might go across city and try new cafe reconicence to see if it is ok for our lunch meet up we have time to find on our next turn is in June. Getting harder to find one we haven't been to in past 6 years.
Did a bit on coat yesterday pockets now attached. The seams are lapped so think I will tack to prevent any movement while sewing.
Enjoy your day

I woke up with a sore throat and a little cough, so I am hoping it is just the flu vax doing what it should. It would be annoying if it was that other thing that I will not name, because I really think the sore arm business ought to put me in credit on the health front for a while! Whatever it is, I will let a nice cuppa cure it and sail on regardless, seeing my sleep bank is now fully recharged and I want to sort out some Autumn trimming over the next couple of days.
But, if it gets to me I have scored the full set of The Godfather films on dvd, so I won't be short of entertainment. I think I saw the first one many years ago but never caught up with the rest and I believe they are even better, so I grabbed these for wet winter watching. But if needs must, they'll stop me feeling too sorry for myself! And if by some chance I happened to have baked a batch of choc chip bikkies I reckon I might just enjoy staying indoors with my sniffles...

Needs must lol, OHH Hope you are on the mend soon.
My sock order arrived along with the slippers I also ordered a couple of weeks ago. My feet are going to be toasty this winter. I hate having cold feet lol. Now to buy some thick gumboot socks for out in the garden. MrK's thick socks look ideal, wonder if they will fit...

Have had a lovely time measuring and planning at the new house..
Everything will fit in. And be safe and secure. Its helped my head to know everything will fit, I think I was worried it wouldn't.
Met the over the back Neighbour, he came and got some feijoas. He has grandies so I said just help yourself cos I dont eat them lol. Dianne took some home too.
And Dianne brought my lawnmower etc too.. she has a little area that is really too little for her son to mow it with the ride on , so now she will do itn herself. lol.
Its been a good day
