I like Chloe. I liked her when she stood for Mayor, and I still like her now she's co leader. She's not perfect, but she's young, hugely intelligent, committed, and personable. And she doesn't wear a suit, nor is she conditioned into the ways of the patriarchy, like so many of the other women in governance. I have never met her, but I get the feeling she's pretty honest for a politician. And she treats people well, I think.

I don't like Duncan Garner. Never met him either. Funny thing though, I get the feeling he and I wouldn't like each other. But then I know someone who has known him since he was a boy, and I have heard her talk about him and the way he relates to women. That and his public performances have probably influenced my attitude. He doesn't treat people well. I don't think he is honest. His Mum though is apparently a lovely woman, not someone who would be rude about anyone.

It's interesting how the way we present ourselves influences the way we are seen. It's a choice we make. So if someone comes across a certain way, maybe we should believe it. Authenticity is just so important, don't you think? We choose the image we present. Hat, or no hat...

The fact that the local troll doesn't like her suggests she must be pretty good. The right obviously see her as a threat!

Chloe presented herself fairly well during a pretty intense grilling by Jack Tame. The base premise here is that under spending in infrastructure and social services are baked into the system and correcting that won't be quick or easy.

No doubt today's Budget will demonstrate how effective the current government's strategies are directing solutions to these and other issues. I'm not holding my breath in that regard.

Greens are a long way from leading the country so we're all good there. Greens have good intentions mostly but I wouldn't want them in charge of the finances, in the same way I don't want Act in charge of the finances.
This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

Duncans definition of communism (1.42)
"where you tax the living bejesus out of any one making money"

He has no clue what he is talking about and throwing in emotive words like communism to appeal to a certain type of people...

and conveniently ignoring the 200,000 lives saved by labour policies during covid.

he's gone full on conspiracy theorist hasn't he ?

Garner is very cross about losing his 750k salary, and blames the changing world for that demotion. He thinks by joining the billionaires chorus he'll get rich again.

As for the Greens, hell, they can't do any worse than the other lots surely, when it comes to budgeting? After all, none of them are wealthy, (unlike both the current lot AND this country) but they still seem to know how to pay their bills...

Just spotted the latest Green post on instagram. The caption reads 'Today the Government will tell us what it values'.

Bear that in mind this afternoon. It beats the hell out of the NZFirst's Woke Bingo card, on farcebook, which is a shocker...

She's not wrong.

And given the previous govts over the last 40 odd years, if the Greens were to become govt then it is crystal clear that they can scarcely do worse - in fact that would be extremely difficult.

Imo, there really is NO good reason as to why a very wealthy person should be involved in politics at all. I'd like to see a ban on very wealthy people being able to enter politics, lest we end up like America.

Well no, I was well prepared. No contact lenses so I could just yell 'I see nothink!' at the screen and pretend it was just another day in my continuing fascinating life.

I just need to make sure I avoid all post mortems and my pearls can remain unsullied by sweaty fingers. If I had any that is. Pearls I mean, not fingers... Tongue

She's doing a lot better since she went international. All those speaking engagements must be very lucrative. And a hell of a lot less stressful, even in Trump country.

Good on 'er. She's earned it.

I've said it before and ill say it again, no sane person would vote green, I dont need to explain the reasons, they dont even try to hide their agenda anymore, even going as far to respond to media asking them the question what is wrong with socialism?
Its bad enough now with Albanese in Australia, some Aussies saying they will come over to NZ which is good for us I guess.

That is a horrible term to apply to a woman. Makes you come across as one of those loathsome basement dwelling virgin imbeciles who've given up bathing CT.

Not a good look.

As for socialism, good heavens, you live in and benefit from the socialist nature of this country. Don't be such an ingrate.

heisenberg is an extreme right wing plant on this site to disrupt at any opportunity any sensible discourse.
It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche

Given this budget & their previous actions I'm now wondering if the plan all along was to be a one term govt, & do as much damage as they could while in office.

Having kicked women in the teeth, they've now gone after both the environment & (predictably) those who are struggling, partly in order to please their donors. How the devil people like this sleep at night is beyond understanding.
