morning ladies We are supposed to have rain today, bring it on!

The bricks were picked up yesterday, the buyer is building a crazy paving path, and they will be used in that. She loved them, am so glad they went to someone who appreciates their rustic-ness

The oven needs cleaning so will do that shortly. The sooner I start, the sooner it's finished. It's one of my pet hates but at least this oven is easier to clean than others we have had. And at least it shows we cook lol.

MrK phoned the Men's Shed the other day and they will be coming out to look and hopefully, clear away some of the timber he is unlikely to use. He's also talking about selling some of his woodworking gear. I've suggested he wait and see what is happening with his hip first as he may regret selling his tools. At least he has agreed to that for now.

Time to dig out the oven cleaner, it would be a shame if I didn't have any...

Rained last night up here. I know this because around 9.30pm I was all tucked up in my nice warm bed with the laptop watching another episode of The Magicians as it hosed down when I thought I heard my name being called from 'out there'. So I went and investigated to find my very large neighbour had fallen getting out of her car, and was unable to get up. She refused to let me call the ambos, so I went next door and got our nice strong young male helper to come and pull her up enough for me to slide a stool under her bottom, and from there she could get upright. We all got soaked... That is her second fall in two days.

It made me do a count of my own whoopsie daisies over the years here, four outside ones, three inside, but none of which required other people to rescue me, so that pleases me. Doing those kitchen bench squats on regular occasions is not just sensible as we age, but saves having embarrassing incidents like last night. I am so glad that wasn't me on the ground. Yet. But a good reminder to watch where we put our feet, falling as an adult is not only embarrassing, it is dangerous.

As for Mr K and his tools, I'm with you. Wait and see. The longer we keep doing the things we love, the longer we live...

Morning everyone

Think it has rained here too. Quite gloomy outside.

So Long as it stops for opening and closing my gate Ill be happy.

Need to pop out for bread and apples. I finally have the piece of corned beef in the crockpot. Im not fussed on it hot, will eat it that way if I have to. But Id rather have it cold on thick white fresh bread. Nothing else just the meat and marge.

Also think its a good thing to wait re MrK's tools... MrP gave his up way to early then sat and stagnated. Part of the reason he went downhill so fast.

I do like vacuuming wooden floors rather than Carpet. Soo much easier and faster.

Hopefully my bond money should turn up soon and then Ill buy the two cabinets I want and a new rug for the lounge. Ill save the rest.

I still have at least one box to find. It has my cats and pigs in. Im guessing they are either under my bed or right in the corner of the spare room under a very tall pile of boxes.. I will find them once I've built the cabinets.. Im looking forward to that. I like flat pack furniture..
Although some of the reviews say they were tricky to put together.. Me Im very methodical , and read instructions. So fingers crossed it will be ok. And I can do it in the kitchen with plenty of room. Ohhh I normally sit on the floor to do things, perhaps Ill bring them in the lounge and use the coffee table like I did with Missy's litter tray house.

Speaking of her she has put on 300 grams. Which may not be a lot. But as a long skinny 3 kilo girl its 10%. I can feel the difference. So pleased cos she has always looked thin cos of her length. She is a long skinny mini.

Good morning. 

Wet this morning but it stayed away for the walk to school.  Fingers crossed for the same this afternoon. The garden and new grass will enjoy the dampness. 

Lucky (for her) you heard your neighbour OHH, otherwise not the best outcome in the rain.  She could do with an alarm. I ripped out a page last night from a magazine I was given, on balance exercises. As you say very important as we age. 

No plan today,  will wait until tomorrow for groceries to take advantage of the GC discount. 

A lightweight moggy Popeye ... mine have all been 2x that weight at least.  Saved them from being molested more by the GC when they were little,  lol! Too heavy to pick up.  I've only ever had male cats though.

Had better get something done.

Good you were able to help your neighbour, OHH in spite of being soaked through. And yes, it is important we manage our strength and weight. Not just for ourselves, but for others who come to our rescue too.

Oven is almost clean. I'm waiting for MrK to finish organising his breakfast before I wipe it out. Racks are done.

I do hear them shutting car doors over the back tho. But I dont hear anything from the front.

Yes Roma she is my lightweight chickie.. Previous Millie and Bob were both 8 kilos each. Also long but they were on the plump side despite their activity.

I think Missy will remain being a "Pha Lap" breed really... I have noticed she is achy in the rear end some cold days. She thinks about how she is going to lay down for the best comfort.

Right I best get my bones moving. Need to drink more the kidneys have both been complaining. Left yesterday, right today.

I agree - balance (and strength) are really important to keep us safe as we age.   In many towns there are oldies' exercise classes initiated by ACC and if you can get to one you should try it out.   Our local class is called "Strong and Stable" and costs only $4 per session.  The classes are not particularly strenuous but include a lot of invaluable balance work.   I've been attending for a a couple of years following ankle surgery that left me immobile and weakened, and I can really feel the improvement in my strength, balance and physical confidence.

Grey,overcast day so far - hung out washing earlier but perhaps I was too optimistic. We'll see; if it gets colder when we venture out for the walk I may bring it in again before I head out later on.

Although if I do, no doubt Murphy's law will kick in & it'll rain.

Thing is though, we cannot/should not rely on neighbours in this situation. It's unwise. She has an alarm., she could have used that as soon as she went down. She has family living close but she refuses to rely on them, instead putting the responsibility on us - "so they don't worry"... But it's okay to worry us. And it weighs heavily when someone does that without understanding that we might not want that job. While I am happy to do the odd thing for neighbours, I am not happy to take on caregiver roles - it is simply burdensome. What if in trying to help her we caused her an injury? Or strained our own bodies? It comes back to this thing about boundaries. I'm going to have to have that conversation with her I think, and don't I just know it's going to put me in the norty corner, lol...

Dammit, I hate it when life gets complicated!

ahhh now that's different if she has an alarm. That's why you have it! And as you say, why give you the worry when you aren't family and she has family close by. They say you should never lift a person, either let them get up by themselves or call an ambulance. I would have pushed her alarm button and held an umbrella over her. She's lucky she has you lol.

Ahhh, email note from New World, free delivery is back on for us till the 17th August. Easy to remember, that's the day I gave birth. The universe is rewarding me for my good behaviour last night, so I better take advantage before it figures out I'm going to renege! I shall stock up on heavy essentials, wine, kitty litter, chocolate...

I just received a very welcome email from my GP - she is using her increase in funding to offer home visits to pensioners and families with young children over the winter .I very seldom go to the doctor but in the middle of winter going out in the weather when the asthma is being a bastard is not ideal - but for Mums with young kids it’s brilliant - can remember having a sick kid in the waiting room it was truly awful - she sure is a keeper

That sounds really good, Jan. Perhaps other Drs might also do that.

They will do home visits here too if needed. I had them at home when I had my tummy done the first time.

It sure is a blessing when you really feel too unwell to go anywhere.

Yay got my bond back. Thats the last I need to have any contact with the property managers of the previous place. They were good but the one I have had the most recent contact with was nasty. To the point that she didn't tell me I needed to show the Tenancy people MrP's death certificate.

Thankfully they allowed a photo of it, which I sent at lunchtime and the money is there now.

So I will purchase my two cabinets, I still had the money for one of those from last week... And my rug. Not going to worry about a hall runner. It will probably just move around on the slightly polished floor like the kitchen one does. So Ill keep my eyes out for an old school heavy one.

The one in the lounge will be under the coffee table so wont be able to move anywhere.

Went in the garage there has been a wee trickle of rain in there. But no where near the freezer. And the rain was driving straight at the door. And I really must notice and see where the light switch is lol..
