Motueka Hotel, one of the bars hosting a "celebration" party following the PM's resignation, received $229,117 in wage subsidies during the pandemic courtesy of the Labour government.

One of the good things about these hate speech outbursts in real life and the abusive vitriol laden posts online is that they do clearly identify the idiots among us. The fact they do, but these individuals still keep on doing it simply proves their sheer stupidity.

And their inability to keep their benighted views to themselves  makes them readily identifiable, so easily avoided. Rolleyes

And the owner of Shooter's bar, where a relative of mine worked for a short time, is extremely foolish to pop his head above the radar given the background of his bar and the marginal way it operates.

I'd be more worried about this, if it was at Sky City - then they might have a problem...
This world would be a perfect place if it wasn't for the people.

It is interesting though, how many of those reporting decent end of year profits never bothered to repay their corporate welfare handouts.

To then turn on the government that provided them is just plain dispicable.

It's not like the wage subsidy made them rich or anything. In most cases, it barely was enough to make up for the loss of business due to covid and lockdowns etc.
Sure, some have exploited it but I know people who recieved it and they were lucky to survive.

The wage subsidy was just that - a wage subsidy to tide over the fact that without it everyone would have been out of work. It should have been paid to the workers. Business owners only received the benefit if they were also on the payroll, or if they were self-employed.

Exactly, and there is nothing suggest that the funds they received didn't get distributed among their staff.
