There really is no end to the problems caused by our idiocy about our various gods & their doings..

Sadly I don't think this conflict will end any time soon.
I think the end goal for Israel is to occupy Gaza entirely.

The god thing is just an excuse it is a battle to the death for limited resources and an overpopulation problem in given areas.

Same with lots of the other conflicts as well.

Rats in overcrowded living spaces do the same thing.

There can no longer be any doubt; humans are idiots. Whatever else we might be, it seems that our idiocy outweighs everything else & may very well ultimately destroy us.

It seems likely Israel will occupy Gaza, & if they do & continue on the path they're presently on then they'll lose any moral high ground they may have had in the past.
There will then no longer be anything to seperate their actions from the actions of the Nazis who persecuted Jewish people; who during the holocaust confined some to the ghetto in Warsaw & proceeded to starve many, shooting any ( including children) who used the sewers to get out & try to get food into the ghetto. The ghetto was evntually annihilated with the few survivors being sent to the death camps.

The Israelis apparently no longer mind about killing children; ( they must have been well aware that there were children in the hospitals they targeted) no longer mind about killing those already wounded (they must have known there were wounded people in the ambulances they hit) & they surely must know that what they're doing now will in the future very possibly bring far worse than the Hamas raid.

Take the toys off the boys, call an immediate ceasefire & send in Medicins sans frontieres, Red Cross, Red Crescent & any other groups able to help. Arrest Netanyahu & his supporters in their govt, arrest any Hamas leaders & send them all to The Hague for trial as war criminals.
Deprogrammes the idiot extreme followers of both sides.

Form a committee of Grandmothers half Israeli, half Palestinian, all of whom have lost family in this idiocy & allow them to make peace, possibly a two country solution or whatever they deem best, & make sure they have support from everywhere.

Never happen...humans are idiots.

"Never happen...humans are idiots. "

That is absolutely true, even by our own standards. However, you must admit that we are both proficient and consistent at it.

If we didn't have religion to excuse our folly, we are not short of other idiocy that we can use to divide us up into opposing factions. It has been said that provided we don't manage species suicide we should all Or mostly) settle down in another 6 or 7 thousand years. (The person prophesying this is however often unaccountably optimistic.)

^^ Might pay to think that proposal over a bit, bearing in mind that a fair few of those grandmothers have recent experience in the mother-in-law regiment. We don't want that sort of attitude on the battlefield or in governments lest we all become maudlin thinking of the good old days of mere nuclear weapons.

Even without religion I suspect we'd manage to find other ways & means of having a pecking order - we're quite skilled at it, finding differences & all the while ignoring everything we have in common.

Most sides think they are already oversupplied with those shock troops, too much really spoils the flavour.   Smile   True, there's lots of good MILs, but they're not the ones getting the publicity or the notoriety.  Mother-in-laws of the militant kind are pretty much gross overkill for any known combatants. (Unless they are dropped on the battle.)   Also, it is virtually impossible to provide safe storage for them.
