  Greta Thunberg deported from Israel
Posted by: Lilith7 - 11-06-2025, 03:51 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (51)

After the bid to reach Israel ended in arrests of protesters attempting to get food & medical supplies to starving Palestinians.

Israel is attempting to portray it as a 'selfie' opportunity - surely not very successfully, given the entire world has been watching events in Gaza. And I'd say that most of us have seen the desperate people & starving children on the news.
She's not lacking guts, that young woman.

Tough times for most, but rich listers doing very nicely
Posted by: Lilith7 - 09-06-2025, 12:34 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (8)

According to the National business review,we now have 18 billionaires - & our PM says 'that shoulld be celebrated'.

Ah yes, never mind the homeless people in ths streets, just step over them & look away. Dodgy Angry

Unbelievable, that any PM in these times could say:" Isn't it fantastic that we've got people with  ambition, aspiration & positivity & we should be celebrating success. I know how hard people work in NZ, & there are some pretty inspirational stories."  Dodgy

Oh really? How about the people - also hard workers who now have no job? How about the people - mostly women - who were in the process of attempting to get fair pay which your govt prevented so that you could balance your (clearly faulty) budget?

I'd imagine that most working people & people on benefirts might also have some 'inspirational stories' - granted, mostly about how to (more or less) survive on a shoe string, but inspirational all the same.
I wonder how many of those people are likely to vote for you delightful people next time round...?

  Query re "updates" C Cleaner
Posted by: Neil F - 08-06-2025, 09:37 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (3)

I am Win 11 Home 64 bit V 24H2 fully updated. I also daily update with Secure Intelligence.
I also use CCleaner Free. When I scan with CCleaner , at conclusion, I get all these "warnings" of "recommended steps' which I could only get access to by taking a Free 7 day trial with CCleaner Pro.

In view of my Windows actions above can i assume that all the CCleaner Pro "fixes" are unnecessary and are purely advertising to get people to subscribe to CCleaner Pro?

I also use Glary Utilities Free.

Guidance, please
Neil

Should we make it illegal to
Posted by: Oh_hunnihunni - 08-06-2025, 03:42 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

...pretend to be a human being?

A friend of mine recently ended up yelling down her phone at a One NZ staffer because she was convinced that staffer was a bot. A robot in fact. Can we tell a fake human from a real one? Probably not.

We already have ai generated images of human beings scamming us, acting as sales people, help assistants, mimicking celebrities, even advising us and acting as our therapists - we can even create them ourselves. When though will this destroy our ability to trust other people? Something being a community relies upon.

Should we make that illegal? Use ai by all means, but maybe we should be able to know it is ai, not a real person. Just a fake. Something different, and to be treated accordingly.

Counterfeit people. If counterfeit money is illegal, imagine how dangerous fake people could be...
Regulate? Or not?
