  Activists scale building in Rolleston
Posted by: Lilith7 - 03-03-2025, 02:55 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (1)

Rolleston is incidentally, not in Christchurch...

Peace Action Otautahi says the building they've scaled manufactures weapons. Barret Firearms Manufacturing is an Australian owned, American based company. The aim is to highlight the killing of innocent civilians with weapons supplied by the company. Their customers include sports shooters, law enforcement agencies & the U.S. military.

Maori Party Scumbags nowhere to be seen
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 02-03-2025, 11:17 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (9)

And not fronting up, these clowns dont respect democracy and serious questions need to be answered.
Rawiri himself is proud to admit it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CXWFONylwI

The head of Stats NZ has even stepped down over all of this, so its clear that the Maori Party was illegally using peoples data in an effort to gather votes.
If this scandal happened with NZfirst or ACT, you wouldnt hear any end of it by the media, but we were lucky to get one day on TV1 covering this, now its almost forgotten about and meanwhile Rawiri Waititi is nowhere to be seen and Debbie Ngarewa-Packer  stuffs off to the cook islands.
I hope this ends up in a bi-election, That seat should have rightly gone to Labour.

  Remind You of Anything?

From Reddit:

Seems everybody is always waiting for somebody else to do something with no leadership. From "They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45", an interview with a German after WWII.

Quote:Each act, each occasion, is worse than the last, but only a little worse. You wait for the next and the next. You wait for one great shocking occasion, thinking that others, when such a shock comes, will join with you in resisting somehow. You don’t want to act, or even talk alone; you don’t want to “go out of your way to make trouble.” Why not?—Well, you are not in the habit of doing it. And it is not just fear, fear of standing alone, that restrains you; it is also genuine uncertainty.
Uncertainty is a very important factor, and, instead of decreasing as time goes on, it grows. Outside, in the streets, in the general community, “everyone” is happy. One hears no protest, and certainly sees none. You speak privately to your colleagues, some of whom certainly feel as you do; but what do they say? They say, “It’s not so bad” or “You’re seeing things” or “You’re an alarmist.”
And you are an alarmist. You are saying that this must lead to this, and you can’t prove it. These are the beginnings, yes; but how do you know for sure when you don’t know the end, and how do you know, or even surmise, the end? On the one hand, your enemies, the law, the regime, the Party, intimidate you. On the other, your colleagues pooh-pooh you as pessimistic or even neurotic. You are left with your close friends, who are, naturally, people who have always thought as you have.
But your friends are fewer now. Some have drifted off somewhere or submerged themselves in their work. You no longer see as many as you did at meetings or gatherings. Now, in small gatherings of your oldest friends, you feel that you are talking to yourselves, that you are isolated from the reality of things. This weakens your confidence still further and serves as a further deterrent to—to what? It is clearer all the time that, if you are going to do anything, you must make an occasion to do it, and then are obviously a troublemaker. So you wait, and you wait.
But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds of thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions, would have been sufficiently shocked—if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the “German Firm” stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. But of course this isn’t the way it happens. In between come all of the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D.
And one day, too late, your principles, if you were ever sensible of them, all rush in upon you. The burden of self-deception has grown too heavy, and some minor incident, in my case my little boy, hardly more than a baby, saying “Jewish swine,” collapses it all at once, and you see that everything has changed and changed completely under your nose. The world you live in—your nation, your people—is not the world you were born in at all. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves; when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed. Now you live in a system which rules without responsibility even to God. The system itself could not have intended this in the beginning, but in order to sustain itself it was compelled to go all the way.
Suddenly it all comes down, all at once. You see what you are, what you have done, or, more accurately, what you haven’t done (for that was all that was required of most of us: that we do nothing). You remember those early morning meetings of your department when, if one had stood, others would have stood, perhaps, but no one stood. A small matter, a matter of hiring this man or that, and you hired this one rather than that. You remember everything now, and your heart breaks. Too late. You are compromised beyond repair.

'Gandalf the green fairy' & the cops
Posted by: Lilith7 - 02-03-2025, 10:46 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (2)

Supported by Chloe Swarbrick, a former cop who once helped bust Gandalf & a widow whose late husband was helped by Gandalf. The treatment he needed would have cost them $400 a fortnight; they paid Gandalf half of that & when they were unable to pay after a house fire, he gave it to them free of charge. So very obviosuly this isn't someone trying to make shitloads of money; this is someone actually helping others.

It just doesn't make sense to continue busting people like this when he's doing good for others, & when there are far,far more serious crimes which police should be looking into first.

PM expects Seymour to give school lunches his 'full attention'

Warning, contains images of politicians.

Apparently, there are "teething problems" with school lunches which Seymour will 'work his way through'...
"Seymour is accountable for delivering" & Luxon " has no doubt he will be able to. I think he knows exactly what needs to happen."

  Smart TV file sharing
Posted by: driftwood - 01-03-2025, 03:03 PM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (9)

I have a USB drive plugged into my wifi router.
I can access it from most of my devices, both Windows and Android.
I would also like to access it from my LG Smart TV.
Google tells me I should access it via the TV's media player.
As yet I haven't found the media player.

Has anyone been down this road ?

  New build occasional Bluescreens
Posted by: Dugimodo - 01-03-2025, 01:55 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (30)

So it's been a couple years since I was on this forum, hope we are all still well.

I built myself a new gaming PC this month and I'm having some issues hoping for suggestions.

Ryzen 7700x (2nd hand from trademe, the rest is new)
G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5 6000 32GB (16GB x 2)
Asus B650M-E WiFi
Lexar 4GB NM790 M.2
Zotac RX4070Ti (from the old machine)

I'm getting very occasional bluescreens with a "your pc has encountered an error and needs to restart" message - maybe once a day at most. Very difficult to diagnose due to how stable it is most of the time. There was a weird graphics issue during setup that made me roll back and reset windows and graphics drivers etc, wondering if I killed something (turns out the monitor went fauly right when I reset the PC and sent me down a rabbit hole)

What I've tried:
Disabled AMD Expo - RAM clocks down to 4800 - seems to be a lot better, took 3 days before it crashed again right as I was shutting down - thought I'd fixed it.
Tried setting the FC clock to 1800 (from an online thread suggestion) - seemed better but crashed again the next day.
Updated BIOS, Chipset drivers, Sound drivers, still have Wifi and Bluetooth to go (trying to only do one thing at a time between crashes)
Most recently as in last night I disabled the onboard GPU and uninstalled the radeon software and ran DDU. Waiting to see if that's helped.

Also the RAM is not on the QVL list and is 1.25V while all the QVL stuff seems to be 1.35V or 1.4V - shouldn't matter right?

Any suggestions welcome. This is turning out to be the slowest problem solving ever, taking days between crashes.

Sorry for the long post.

Edit: sorry forgot to mention, can't see what the bluescreen code is as it goes away too fast and event viewer only has unexpected restart faults which is not helpful.

The last 10 minutes of this will turn your stomach.   If this is what Trump and Vance regard as diplomacy then WWIII is not far away.
