120 families lose access to respite care but 'not a cut'
Posted by: Lilith7 - 20-09-2024, 11:40 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (4)

Despite the clear similarity to an actual cut, this is apparently not a cut. At all. Not even slightly. Rolleyes

120 Wellington families have lost access to respite care support, but according to ministers this is not a cut - because the programme's budget was intact.

Outlook Email 2016 not longer accepting emails
Posted by: neilmcc - 19-09-2024, 11:41 AM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (9)

Looks like I've had it for using Outlook 2016 as Microsoft have changed the rules for getting emails. I've always downloaded Outlook.com emails to the PC,and not left them on the server  I don't download my gmail ones.

Have got the new "Outlook for Windows" free one on the PC now so can see my emails on my PC, laptop and phone. But that doesn't allow me to download them onto my PC. But it will allow me to see my older emails on my phone like the gmail ones if I'm not downloading them to my PC.

Probably can live with that, but my Mailwasher program that first checks emails has also stopped working. I use it to delete any emails I don't want. But thinking about it I probably don't need it if I'm not downloading my emails to PC. As I can delete them on my phone.

But I do have separate folders in my Outlook program for Work,TradeMe ,etc, instead of all lumped in together.

Technology!!
I guess the answer is to upgrade my Outlook or go to 365.

Fiddling with the free Outlook I see I can create new folders to save emails into, so that's a relief. But how do I reply to older emails that are in my Outlook 2016! Copy and paste I assume!

Ongoing!!

Huh? What just happened? My PC restarted from 'new'
Posted by: allblack - 18-09-2024, 05:15 PM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (5)

So I got home and turned on my PC, and I get the set-up process I got when I first bought it and turned it on for the first time.

Just spent the last hour setting up the PC like a brand new one, but it's a bit different because it asked me to restore some things from my previous usage, that being this morning when everything was fine.

I thought it was maybe a MS Windows update, but why would that put me right back to the intial setup process?

And I've lost Pictures, Videos and most of my Documents from Explorer. A MS update wouldn't do that, I assume.

Anyone got any explanation for me? Is this just a me thing?

I'm assuming the PC downloaded something when I was using it this morning and when I turned it back on it did something ...

  Drs confront Health minister
Posted by: Lilith7 - 18-09-2024, 03:46 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (7)

Drs concerned about what appears to be a hiring freeze have told the minister that its not true that the hiring freeze isn't affecting front line staff. Matt Doocey has said that he'll step in if that is the case.
He said that mental health is a priority & there is no impact.

And the nursing shortage doesn't seem to be improving either.

email a/c in new Outlook Win11
Posted by: ruuptoit - 17-09-2024, 02:06 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (12)

email a/c in new Outlook Win11

Been backed into a corner and forced to update to new mail / outlook account. I have tried to set up a SMTP account using my ISP (Slingshot) without success, each time I am told that it is wrong. I would love some help here as Slingshot can not or will not help me and Microsoft when called refer me to the internet. Both are blind alleys.

Using Windows 11 home latest edition. I have successfully set up two outlook accounts, but my Slingshot account eludes me.   Angry

Also, I have tried my previous account (ruup) but it will not let me log in, any thoughts appreciated.

  Another assassination attempt on Trumo

Someone with a rifle has been arrested at the golf course where Trump was playing. With the amount of guns they have there, you'd think they'd all be better at using them.
