  Chrome externsions
Posted by: king1 - 09-09-2024, 09:59 AM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (8)

with the upcoming removal of manifest V2 extensions,  I now have a list of 20 or so extensions under the heading

Quote:These extensions may soon no longer be supported - Remove or replace them with similar extensions from the Chrome Web Store

I'm thinking not much point in staying with Chrome now - when I check for alternatives via the provided link all the really useful ones like cookie/notice blockers, autoplay stoppers etc, just list generic extensions that aren't really alternatives at all...

Ublock has a lite version available but it looks like it's been neutered, feature wise

What to do? Some of them I won't miss but there are a few in the can't really live without category...

Firefox is looking rather appealing now...

  Cell phone WiFi
Posted by: brucem - 08-09-2024, 11:05 AM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (1)

I have recently bought a Moto G04 smart phone to replace my stolen dumb phone ( a Nokia 3310).  I have it connected to our Fritzbox router.  I now have my wife's phone book on my phone.  Some of the people I don't even know.  I would like to delete those that I don't want, but can I do this without deleting them from my wife's phone ( a move that could be fatal!)?  How do I do this?

Cutting rest home care & home support will leave elderly vulnerable
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-09-2024, 04:50 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (11)

How the devil can any politician be so short sighted & uncaring fgs?  This really is disgraceful, than any govt can even contemplate doing this in order to save money.  It shows vividly that politicians in general & this govt in particular is not at all concerned with the well being of elderly patients & is instead only interested in saving money.

Surely, its time NZ & every country, had laws prohibiting  this type of situation. Sad Dodgy Angry

"About 60% of people lack the means to buy into a retirement village, many rural communities will lose their care facilites due to underfunding & lack of staff. HealthNZ has been instructed by health minister Shane Reti to save 2000,000 hospital beds a night."

Setting up Facebook on new Tablet
Posted by: Pato - 07-09-2024, 04:22 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (16)

I have got myself in a bit of a tangle and would appreciate some help.

I have Facebook and Messenger on an old tablet and also on my PC.

I am trying to also set them up on a new Tablet and have ended up with an account in the name of another person which I can access.

Followed all the Facebook requests but to no avail. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed. Unfortunately I cannot recall the password I used
to setup Facebook some time ago.

Secretive legal advice may breach FTA. Charter schools
Posted by: Lilith7 - 06-09-2024, 11:19 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (2)

A select committee has revealed that secretive charter school rules may breach international labour & free trade agreements. They do seem to be being rather cagey about this.

Movie studios will need permission to use deceased in AI
Posted by: king1 - 06-09-2024, 10:54 AM - Forum: Movies & TV - Replies (1)

This is a good thing and definitely needed...

Without it studios could literally resurrect any deceased actor and use their likeness in movies, rather than an actual living actor/actress...

This is California only at the moment but expected to be implemented world wide in due course...

Prague names street after British holocaust hero
Posted by: Lilith7 - 04-09-2024, 03:41 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - No Replies

A new street is to be named after Sir Nicholas Winton, who helped save hundreds of Jewish children. Four of them - now in their 80s or 90s - attended the ceremony naming the street, which runs past the station from where tens of thousands were deported during the holocaust.
