  Tiwai smelter to close

Was only last year they had reopened their mothballed potroom to increase production!

I really hope we see cheaper electricity prices as a result. Shame so many jobs will be lost though.

Tough news for the 1000 employed.

Bad news for my Meridian shares.

But at least with all the excess power generation, we'll all get cheaper power... yeah, right.

Is there any island they could set up camp or something?

Alot of the islands in the Hauraki gulf were used as quarantine facilities back in the day.

So how long a prison sentence for Michelle Boag? Could share a cell with Dame Jenny Shipley. Wouldn't that be nice.

Boag saying that sending it to Walker was okay because she thought he wasn't going to leak it is possibly the strangest part of the story.

Given the Nats tepid response when it happened - "oh, it's a bit shabby" - you have to wonder Toddy and Big Ears knew about it earlier.

Sister is in one of the locked down postcodes in Melbourne so she's got that fun to deal with.
