New school lunches don't give kids enough energy
Posted by: Lilith7 - 31-03-2025, 02:48 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (22)

New school lunches fail nutritution standards &  give kids only half the energy they require.
"Given that 27% of children now live in homes where food runs out often or sometimes, the low energy content of meaks is especially worrying"

And now, the idiots want to defund Sesame street

Heaven forfend kids might learn empathy & compassion..

A comittee led by Marjorie Taylor Greene wants to defund NPR, PBS - apparently they're 'radical, left wing echo chambers for wealthy white urban liberals & are 'brainwashing & transing children'...

Insanity seems widespread in the American govt. Dodgy Angry

How much money do people on benefits really get?

Some adore holding forth about 'bludging beneficiaries', but apparently those people haven't the least idea what the hell they're talking about...who knew. Rolleyes Dodgy

Shamubeel Eaqub says data shows that inequality has worsened since the 1980s economic 'reforms'...no doubt Roger Douglas & his greedy mates are well pleased.

"Social cohesion can best be understood as the glue which holds our society together; the opposite is polarisation. Without social cohesion, societies become increasingly unstable, from politics to business, to civil society to day to day life in our communities."

  ACT, How to destroy equity
Posted by: Lilith7 - 29-03-2025, 02:52 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (10)

They seem determined to pretend that trying to achieve equity for everyone is really racism & they won't stand for that.

Somewhere in their hearts (assuming they have such a thing)  they must know that what they want is, if not racism then far closer to it than what's been achieved so far. Which would tend to make many ACT MP's  hypocrites.

They're going to stop 'services based on race' - & using an Indian member, Dr Parmeet Parmar to do so.

Warning, contains footage of a politician. He seems very proud of having scrapped free GP visits for Maori or Pasifikica & sems to believe thbat will bring about equity

Canadian anti Trump billboards in US states
Posted by: Lilith7 - 27-03-2025, 10:59 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - No Replies

The Canadian govt has launched an anti Trump billboard campaign in 12 republican dominated states saying that the tariffs Trump on their country will harm American consumers; the billboards read " Tariffs are a tax on hard working Americans:" & "Tariffs are a tax at the gas pump."

Outlook stuck at 'Preparing to Send/Receive'
Posted by: king1 - 26-03-2025, 08:35 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (3)

anyone come across this, I have a client suffering from this for quite some time.

After opening Outlook it works fine for a while, up to several hours, but eventually it locks up when the status bar message is showing 'Preparing to Send/Receive' - and it never progresses to an actual Send/Receive...

In one photo sent to me I could see the reminders window showing the start of a 'not responding' in the title bar...

sleep disabled
hibernate off
outlook in safe mode does the same
killing it via task manager allows restarting Outlook but not ideal...
Office 365, windows 11.

It's been going on for a few months now, mainly due to client not wanting to pay me to fix this up until now, must have been driving her nuts all that time...

a simple reinstall may well sort it but just curious to know if anyone has any insights into this...
