A much cooler morning for sure. The day is sure to heat up though!
Yes kiwimade, it was bedlam on that wee road with all the schools participating ... but a good day away from usual school routine. I'm glad my rabid cat hunter's  days of bringing multiple rabbits home are over, but he did earn his keep!
Christmas is approaching and the traffic in the Bay is ramping up. Most of us are spending time in the kitchen baking,  it would seem, happy days.
A bit more last minute pre-Chritmas shopping for me today.
Have a good day,  all.
Morning everyone

Looks like it could be a fine day.

Welcome Roma.

Ive always liked that the crafty mind3ed people tend to like gardening and cooking too lol.

Saw MrP yesterday, hes lost so much weight but has good colour in his face. He was more interested in his food than me lol. But I put up some lights, trimmed his mo and helped the new lady across the hall. Shes lovely a little wee English lady.

Our one over neighbour came and replaced the spotlights for me which was awesome. His dog came with him.. A beautiful white Bulldog with a hint of ginger spots.. Lulu.. And she is cuddly and doesnt smell so well looked after. I got heaps of cuddles. Met his wife too. They are South African.

Hopefully the trees will get a little trim today so TV will be watchable.

Im up to bake so had better get cracking.. Its nice at the mo.

Have a fab day everyone
Good was going to say morning but just glanced at the clock - where did the morning go - another very warm day my veggie pod is going berserk - will never plant so many lettuces again - the Cos ones are OK as they grow upright - will be able to provide the salad for the 30 odd coming to my sons for Xmas dinner no problem !
I remember Mum used to cook the ham every year in a blanket of dough - she was always running late and would decide about 10pm the dish was too small so would send Dad to the neighbours to borrow their big dish and Dad would stay for a tipple or two -so the ham wouldn’t go into the coal range until midnight - all us kids would be in a panic that father Xmas wouldn’t stop because Mum was still cooking - funny the things you remember
Five years yesterday since my old boy passed on - my 16 grandson sent me a photo late yesterday afternoon from up the Kawekas in his Grandads swandri - they used to go tramping together up there - he is a super kid - I still haven’t finished his blanket in school colours -
Mr P will be pleased with the baking Popeye - the food gets a bit predictable
Morning ladies Smile  A nice calm morning this morning even if it is a bit overcast.

I couldn't burn the garden waste yesterday as the wind was huge but I did manage to dead head some roses and cut the dead wood from Blueberry Hill.  Hopefully 'she' will be happier now and produce more of her gorgeous roses.  The compost bin is the sweetest smelling bin lol thanks to the lavender I trimmed back and threw in there.  My lavenders have finished flowering so time for a trim back to encourage more flowers. And our neighbour popped in yesterday and will take the concrete fill away for me as soon as he can.  He said he can use the lot, even the concrete I haven't dug up yet so I'm a happy camper.  So good to have the fill recycled rather than dumped.  And we're contributing to supporting the bank of the creek. A win-win for us all.

Jan, have you grown "Drunken Woman" lettuces?  You just pick what you need/want and leave the plant.  They are pretty lettuces too and look good in a salad or sandwich.  They are MrK's preferred lettuce.

We're picking our raspberries!  Soooo good.  And our tomatoes are ripening already.

Yesterday I worked on my tui and blended in the bluey-grey colour so now I have the head finished.  I'm thinking of what stitch to use for the chest feathers as in the photo the tui is upside down so the chest feathers are all fluffed out as the fall backwards.  I'll use stem stitch for the white on it's back and am using long and short stitch for the bulk of the body.

Happy crafting Smile

Sunny day here so another nice day
Made some mince pies yesterday. Made a double batch of g,uten free pastry so that I can make more during the week.

Starting to feel the stirrings of my creative mojo returning so might whip up a baby quilt for charity today. Have some ideas for a big quilt too

Had a wee lie in this morning now finished reading time to get up

Have a good day
Morning everyone

Its still here at the mo.

I too slept late. I took half a pill last night as I was Soooo sore from all the standing and the nastiest cramps Ive ever had. brought me to tears several times.. Im going to see if I can see my Dr and beg if I have to. There must be something they can do. I always used to get cramp but not as often or as nasty as it has been happening since my heart attack.. Its plain cruel.

Will be a much quieter day today.. Ill deliver some of the baking, and do the rubbish but that will be about it... I feel like a creaky old woman lol.

And Ill throw the uncooked slice together that I didnt make yesterday cos I run out of steam.

Might paint later.. Im missing it..

Cant wait to see the Tui Kiwimade.. and its Awesome that the concrete is being re-used.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning.  A lovely day, with some breeze to help with the heat.
A bit of vege garden weeding first thing, the best time.
Up to the arm ribbing on my wee west, but will probably get back to it after the holiday season now. Too much happening with family coming up from the SI and other family around.
Trip along the coast a bit to visit son/partner and their 2 mo BC pup this afternoon ... an energiser bunny for sure!
Enjoy your day.
morning ladies Smile  It's a foggy start to the day today but that's OK.  Will be lovely when I go out to trim the edges and mow the lawn shortly.

Yesterday MrK and I went to Hamilton and did some work around our son's shop.  It meant we had a car load of MrK's tools and all the stuff he thought he would need... all except the stud finder he left behind lol.  Luckily he had marked on the wall where the studs were.  The new bench is in, his table (which arrived packaged with no screws to put it together) is all set up and the trim is on the wall to divide the top and bottom colours of the walls.  His shop is looking really good. We are both so proud of him.

There was no crafting for me yesterday.  By the time we got home it was hot and we were both pretty tired.  Hopefully I'll get some done today.

happy crafting Smile
I spent a lot of yesterday pottering with plants, indoors and out. Then sat under the big brollie in the courtyard with a couple of neighbours and a wine or two, and stitched loops into a mask for one of them, so he could secure his new nose cone into place. After dinner it was such a lovely evening I went out and ripped out a few seeding parsley plants and lopped off some new rose growth that was threatening passers by.

I have too many indoor plants, but I now also have more clear space for summer salad seedlings. I must find some seed...

I take celecoxib to keep my pain down to swearing level. Without it the post exercise pain and cramps are vicious. Ask your doc if celebrex might help. It is an anti inflammatory and is perfectly safe for most of us to use, it certainly makes my life bearable.
Morning all
Blustering wind here.

Started charity baby quilt yesterday. Started free motion quilting but the upper tension on my machine is off. Sewing tech closed until mid January. I have the service annual for my machine so will check and see if there is an easy fix without ta,ing the covers off. At least I have other machines I can use for normal stitching. Just a nuisance ce cause I usually.make a quilt in xmas NY break.
Errands to run this morning will tinker this afternoon

Have a good day

Sadly Hunnihunni I cant take anti-inflams cos Im on warfarin. very limited in pain meds. No Brufen either. So I live on Codiene and take oxyNorm when its unbearable. But I try and take it before its Unbearable cos the drs said it makes it too hard to work

Morning everyone

Another still day out there so far.. A nice temp too.. I could handle summer if it was like this lol.

I had a total day of rest, sitting in my chair reading a good book I got free at the oppy the other day. Its had 10,001 timesaving ideas.. Would be an awesome book for young people just starting out as it starts with setting up your hojme etc.. Ive just got to a list of cleaning products you can make yourself.

Poor MrP was actually worried about me, when we talked on Saturday night he realised how much pain I was in. And he is now getting arthritis so has a little more understanding too..

The lawn boy didn't arrive to trim the trees, disappointing.. Ill ask our neighbour if he can help me.. I dont watch alot of TV but its background noise for me.

Making MrP a bacon buttie before I go up this morning. He will love it.

Ill deliver the baking later too, I didn't get around to it yesterday

Have a fab day all
morning ladies Smile  Another hot day is on the cards by the looks of it.

I'm back in Hamilton this morning to take a piece of the wall trim back to our son.  MrK had to use his jigsaw to cut out where the fire alarm goes.  It's only a small piece but it will finish things off.  While in Hamilton I'll get the groceries and pick up son's Christmas present from Bunnings click and collect.  I love click and collect, saves a lot of time and mucking about.

The lawn is all mowed but I swear you can watch it grow.  Even  our farming neighbour has said he has never seen grass and  maize grow so fast this spring/summer.    I have a huge cane on Ingrid Bergman with 11 buds and can't wait to pick it.  I am hoping it will be ready just before Christmas Day.  I noticed we have our first pumpkin growing, hard to believe they start out so tiny.  And we have figs on the fig tree too.  Plums are growing and some have a bit of blush on them already.

No embroidery for me yesterday.  I can't think why I'm procrastinating over this piece.  I must get it done.  Maybe I've just lost my mojo for a bit or maybe it's simply that time of year where there is lots to do.  I think I'll set some time aside each day and work on it.

Happy crafting Smile

Crazy windy and dull overcast here

Didnt do much yesterday errands and did fiddle with SM tension can get a balanced straight stitch but not when free motion so she will be going to the SM hospital in the NY.
Got to get k9 food from vet and pick up a script this morning. This afternoon might sew a cotton knit cardi for DGD use overlocker and coverstitch for that.

Have a good day
Good morning everyone

The clouds are coming in so it looks like we might get rain.

A kind man and his family came around last night and trimmed the trees last night so the TV should be watchable again. he has this snazzy long extending little ryobi chainsaw the blade only being 6-8 inches max but it chews through things.

Glad I hadnt got around to distributing the baking so I gave some to them. And I still have some for the older couple next door.

Today Im starting my work through of decluttering and biffing. But Im going to put a post up in a local group asking people to list anything they collect, beit craft stuff for kids to anything they collect , incase I can find homes for stuff, rather than binning it.

MrP loved his bacon buttie and it was nice just to visit not have to do any jobs for him. lol. The new lady across from him is lovely. We have worked out she is easily 80, still carries a broad accent, she said you never lose it.. She is starting to lose track in her conversations, but its sad cos she knows it and it annoys her. But Ive adopted her and will always visit her too.

Have a fab day everyone
Interesting about the warfarin. I was put on a heparin analogue after my PE earlier this year and taken off the celecoxib as a routine order by the consultant. 'Because it would interfere'... except because it put me into real trouble with the arthritis my GP started researching and discovered the celecoxib was not contraindicated for heparin as the incidence of clotting with it was so minimal. Apparently there has been a huge multiyear study just completed after celebrex was thought to be involved in heart problems, and the drug has been totally cleared of those potentials. Which is great for those of us with severe osteoarthritis. So she put me back on the celebrex, along with a mild drug to protect my tummy, and everything has been much better for the last six months. Just panadol for bad pain days. Just as well as being a cheap drunk, opioids and narcotics make me very ill and ibuprofen is almost as bad.

Mind you the sooner I can get off these anticoags the better. For some reason I dislike taking them a lot - age denial probably!

Anyway, I hope your pain is better. It is a hard thing to deal with.

Yeah  Warfarin is a pain the butt really. If I had known the limits to pain meds that come with it, Id have risked having a pig heart valve.. in saying that I would have also chosen it if I had been told they were in the learning process of putting them in via the groin.. I cant have any anti inflams, no brufen or anything containing it. No voltaren topical creams etc.. And I wont try gabapentin as it turned MrP and my Brother into really nasty men, and a friend started having suicidal thoughts.. My twin brother was addicted to opiates, so Im very careful when I use it. Arthritis sucks too so I understand what you are going through... but we have to remember the good times, lol says she who is still hobbling around like a 90 year old with pain in the muscles that keep cramping... I wish we could get quinine still.. Im taking to my DR tomorrow,. she has to do something.
We can't get quinine any more?

I better hang on to the vial I have then! Funny thing, a quarter of one of those tiny pills saves me a night of agony if I have been a bit too busy during the day. And that really is a rare occasion thank heavens. I do remember ferocious cramps in my thigh muscles though after the first hip replacement and asked the nurse for a hot water bottle ( that being my other reliable cure), only to be told they didn't use them in hospitals because they were dangerous.

Mmmmmmmm!
morning ladies Smile  We're inching closer to Christmas!  Another lovely day here today, perfect for pav baking.

Yesterday was madness but I have finished all the shopping.  MrK is going to find a few of his dad's tools for son's new tool box then I can wrap it and the gift wrapping is done too.  He's having a blood test today and while in town will pick our half a ham up.  Our butcher will cut it in half again for us so half in the freezer for the new year and the rest for Christmas.  I must admit I'm really happy it's not our turn to host Christmas this year.  A lot less fuss and I don't have to worry about the garden being up to scratch and so on.  I know they come for the family day but most of us are avid gardeners so the garden is something we tend to gravitate too over the day.

I'm setting some time aside for stitching the tui, now I'm determined to finish it.  But am wondering if I should have used the glossy silk type threads.  Oh well, it is what it is.

Happy crafting Smile
Good morning, ladies. I enjoy reading these posts about your endeavours. I don't do crafting, but (surprise surprise) I repair cameras. Sometimes, looking at the containers of parts I wonder why I got into this, but so far I've managed to get most of my victims back together and working.
We're having our big Christmas dinner tonight - normally we would be at our daughter's place on Christmas day, but she is going to have a full house, so we thought we would reduce the stress for her, and have her family here tonight.
Morning all
Sunny with a breeze gale force winds have died down thank goodness
Welcome Praktica enjoy your Xmas dinner

Sewing mojo returned and made a sleevless body t with shoulder frill for DGD and a cardi using some lovely soft cotton spandex fabric from For Fabric Sake. Think I might make same pattern and attach a wee skirt we will see.
DH has been laid up past 3 days with bad pain. He can't move so no way to get him into car to see Dr. Thank goodness for nice medical practice and phone consults. Improvement today with pain meds he can sit on dining chair for short period lets hope he continues to improve as we have xmas lunch away an hour drive up the coast
