I am off to the hospital for an x ray to check out a bone bruise that seems to be hanging around a little too long. Fingers crossed the rain holds off...
Morning everyone

Safe travels Kiwimade.. and enjoy your Hugs.

Hope all is ok with your bone bruise OHH.

I just spent a good 10 minutes trying to get the tape off my thumb lol.. I will replace it after Ive baked.

Ive wrapped the knee. Its not too bad this morning... But I will be standing on it when I bake.

Everything is measured out. Just need to mix and cook. It saves an hour of standing. I think there's 7 things on the list. The July Babies will be happy. But Ill be freezing some to stretch it. Only one thing for me, a good old weetbix slice.

While I was doing the ingredients I thought Madam had gone too quiet.. So I looked around and there she was Lording it on my chair on the hot water bottle. She's no dunce lol... She knows how to find heat .

Honestly she is like a two year old. She will be doing something, like attacking MrPs chair and look over to see if I can see her do it or not lol

My coleslaw was Lovely last night. It wasn't so rich in flavour as I thought it might be.. Now Ill have to pace it lol... I managed to peel the reduced down label off. It was originally $4 for half a cabbage. So a good buy at $1.

Right better check FB then get in the kitchen.

Have a fab day
Hope your jaunt to Whanganui goes well, Kiwimade & your X ray shows the best result, Hunni. Popeye, I read somewhere that dogs are the equivalent of the age of a toddler - I suspect that its slightly older for cats sometimes.
Cold, miserable & sunless here again - it was 9 yesterday & probably about the same today.

I remembered the Inca hat when we went for the early walk & very glad I did - the benefits of getting old enough so you do not give a toss what you look like as long as you're warm! Smile
Nice easy trip in, only one in radiology so got straight in and no worries with rain or pain, so home just two hours after leaving. Now I can waste the day away having had a good excuse!

The bone bruise is a left over from going through a rotten stair back in 2019. I just dealt with it at the time but it took a long time to heal and has left a lump on the bone and some discolouring on the skin, so just best to get it checked out. Probably just calcification according to the GP, but she's a stickler for details, a quality I am very grateful for seeing it was that that picked up my PE and probably saved my life. This won't be nearly so dramatic thank heavens!

One thing I noticed on my trip in was a huge new development going on by the hospital. Looks like the retirement village we called the 'prison camp' has been so popular they are at least doubling the units. Thing I cannot understand is if there is so much money to be made in that industry, how come kiwi companies aren't in there matching the Aussies? All that profit going offshore...

Is is a Radius care place do you know? They seem to be quite prevalent in rest homes. They do several radio ads which I do one or two awful things to; one states that they 'only employ people with strong convictions' & I often wonder aloud exactly what their convictions were for, which earns me a weird look from the dog.... Glad all's OK & you weren't stuck there for hours.
Glad your trip wasn't too long OHH.

I hope its not bad news re the bones.

Mine are doing a Mild Scream at me. I had an Oxy at lunchtime but just had to wheel the recycle bin down to the road.

I enjoyed my baking session and have bagged it up for MrP. Dishwasher is busy as is the washing machine. these labour saving devices are certainly wonderful. Although I reckon the old wringer machines cleaned clothes wayy better.

Had a lovely chat with my Sister friend I met in CHCH from trade me today. We both have the same taste in soo many things, right down to our fav cooks lol... Although she has one more Jo Seagar book than I do lol..She was telling me about a Spice called Cassia which is an alternative to cinnamon and she loves it especially in Belgium Biscuits,, Which I nearly made today lol

MrP has some Anzac biscuits, Hokey pokey Bis, chocolate cream biscuits, Banana cake and Sante biscuits. I also made a weetbix slice which I will keep here for me.

Time to finish my games and then decide on tea, but I suspect it may be a piece of weetbix slice and a hot chocolate maybe.. I havent sampled any of it yet lol

Oh what a rosy picture they paint of 'the Poynton'

"At The Poynton, you’ll mix with a community of like-minded residents,"

Oh really - like minded you say. So then no Nat/Act supporters, no one who's anti gay, no racist minded folk, no one grumping at length about 'the young people of today'.....???! Big Grin Big Grin
morning ladies Smile  It's cold outside, boy the temperatures have dropped.

OHH, your doctor sounds great.  You were lucky to be in and out in a couple of hours too.

lol Lilith, when businesses through their  advertising make those grandiose statements, we wonder too, and often make smart ar** comments to the telly.  But it's those funeral insurance adverts that really tick us off.  Why should we leave our assets to our 'loved ones'?  What if we want to blow the blo*dy lot or donate the lot to a charity.  And why shouldn't we.  We worked for it.  Even our son said to me the other day, don't worry about leaving the house to us, mum.  Sell it and spend it lol.  I'm sick of adverts trying to make us feel guilty.  As long as there is money to cover the cost of our funerals and pay any outstanding bills, that's all that matters.

Yesterday was great.  Lots of driving but even that was good.  The kids have grown so much since Christmas.  Real beanstalks lol. Great to have those hugs.  SH4 got a bit hairy closer to Whanganui where slips had been but I just took my time, pulled over when I could to let others pass and toddled on.  Thought I would share a pic of Mt Ruapehu on my way home.  The sun was setting and it looked so pretty.  It was a quick snap of the camera as it was freezing out there lol.

Today back to reality and finishing the Big Kitchen Cleanup.  Door frames (blo*dy flies) and the pantry left to do.  Once I buy a new bottle for the Karcher window vacum I'll do the windows.  The plastic has become brittle and there's a hole in it.  Karcher have a shop out at Te Rapa so I'll call in when in Hamilton next.

I'm hoping I can work on the butterfly sometime today.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning everyone

Bit of a blustery old day out there and not terribly warm either.

I enjoyed my weekend and baking session... The bones are mending.. but its always worth it lol...

I tried the Sante Biscuits OHH. Nice flavour but I really like crunchy biscuits.. MrP will love them tho.

I need to try some crafts again to try and get my fingers moving again... Haven't had the drive to do anything for a while. I might start by dissecting an very thin sheet that I caught one of my rings in the other day and overlock some rags out of it.

Im doing a town pick up of ice cream containers on my way to MrP today.. I dont know what he does with them but I never seem to get them back. I need some for measuring my ingredients into. So his bikkies will continue to go up in bags so I dont lose them.
I seldom eat ice cream and he used to eat a container in less than a week. So I dont have my constant supply lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Totally agree Kiwimade, re the funeral adds etc.. I told my parents if I ever caught them skimping on anything to leave money etc to us Id smack their backsides.. We are all adults and dont need to hang on their apron strings.
I agree completely and told my parents the same thing but there is a downside to be free of loving encumberances as we get older. Who will I leave the family things to, the ones too big to pop in a box and send to Perth? I took out the funeral insurance, and am making sure most of the stuff I leave behind won't be worth much but there are a few things that are well into serious antique status and carry so much family baggage I worry about them...

Still, no doubt I'll find a cousin or something to solve the problem. So long as I don't cark it overnight!

As for the sante bikkies, they just need a few more minutes in the oven next time and they'll be crunchier! Just watch them, they brown fast. Don't ask me how I know this...
Good morning all.

A bit nippy out but staying warm inside with gd. She's currently chatting away while doing puzzles  Smile

Nice for you to have a day with the family KM  .. a long trek but it does seem to whizz by faster when you are the driver. The mountains look stunning.

Are sante biscuits the ones made with condensed milk? A good idea for a change ... I haven't had c milk in the cupboard for yonks ... used to in my days of homemade salad dressing!

Need to decide on some wool/colour choice to get some baby knitting underway.  Mum and dad don't care what colours ... which doesn't make it any easier for me, lol. Anything goes in the colour range choice nowadays for baby wool.

Puzzle time has ended ... better find another activity.

Enjoy the day all.
Yep Kiwimade, I find myself often answering the more daft/stupid ads with smartarse replies - the dog gives me a very odd look but I think its a way of letting off a bit of steam rather than heading into doolally territory...I hope!
And have told that lot that I'm not having a funeral - I'm having an unfuneral; body straight to the crematorium no mucking about( & they can pick up the ashes & scatter them later) & they can play some of the music I like (THAT should be interesting!) & tell those stories they so enjoy trotting out about the daft things things Gran did. Mostly highly exaggerated, obviously.

Cold again but at least the sun has made an appearance, despite the forecast for all day rain.

Still attempting to sort out workroom in fits & starts - its a far bigger task than I'd realised or I probably would never have started.
pantry and the rest of the kitchen is done.  How on earth did we end up with so many platters and dishes?  Off to the op shop some go.  A total revamp of how the pantry is organised and suddenly things fit.

Lilith, that's exactly what MrK wants.  And his choice of music will be fun lol. He loves Elvis so has a list.  And every time he hears a song he asks what it is and that also goes on the list.  So a real eclectic mix. Mine will be metal, classic rock and Ave Maria so also a real mix.   The Ave Maria will have them thinking lol.

The roofer is here, half an hour after phoning so not bad service at all Big Grin Big Grin  Mind you, we were one of his first customers when he started out on his own.  We have a leak in the kitchen so better to get that fixed.  If expensive it may be an insurance claim - our first besides broken windows ever for the house.

well that was a simple fix Big Grin and work done in exchange for a big bag of lemons off the tree.
Yup, that straight to ashes deal is mine too, but even so it is an expensive process, hence the funeral insurance. More for my peace of mind than anyone else's.

Btw, I checked the bathroom fan on all night safety issue out with our maintenance people and am told the units are rated for 24 continuous use, which is a bit more peace of mind. I can stop keeping an ear open for a smoke alarm at 2am, lol...
Yep no funerals for us either.

My stepfather went straight to the cooker as he would say. We had a service for him with the ashes there.

Mum was the same, she didnt want a service, just wanted everyone to gather for a cuppa and natter but her Brothers wanted a service so we had one out of respect for them.

MrP will be cremated and then Ill sprinkle his ashes at see at some stage. And Me I dont care cos there wont be anyone to do anything anyway lol.

MrP was still asleep when I got there, So was a quiet visit. gave him all his goodies. so he's a happy lad.

Yes the Sante Biscuits have condensed milk in them. Thankfully I had a little bit in the fridge. I have a good stock tho cos I too used to make salad dressing for MrP with it. And I got quite a few tins that were in the marked down bin.
Years back after my Dad died, he'd wanted his ashes scattered at sea so we organised with the Lyteltton tug to take them out to the heads where i could do it.

It was only as I was about to tip them over the side that I remembered one of his favourite stories about another scattering of ashes from a cliff top, in which the ashes were promptly blown back by an updraft so that all those gathered got a mouthful...oh dear!
So I muttered 'Don't you bloody well dare!' as I tipped them overboard.

He didn't. Smile
