Morning everyone

Very grey and overcast. A nice temp.

Im not going to bother to rush and get out to do the back lawn. I wouldn't get it done before it rains I dont think.

OMG Jan Horrible to think about what could have happened. I remember years ago when we had a dairy, there was a small IGA type supermarket store on the end of the block. We started work at 3am and noticed the door to his shop broken. So we called the police and the Owner. The latter arrived first carrying a pistol. he had had enough. But the police took it from him. The robber wasn't in the shop thank goodness, although he probably deserved what he might have got, but it wouldn't have been good for anyone really.

Im glad I didn't do any listings last week, its 50 % off selling today. So Ill do those listings.. And I got rubbish bags yesterday so will get a few bags ready.

Bobbie wasn't so good yesterday. Thankfully she had had her other sore tooth out. but she was in pain and couldn't really walk. So I pushed her around in wheelchair. Couldn't really get a real explanation of what was sore or why. She was tired and Nodding off at the table.

And Irene has Scabies, yes bloody scabies. So she wasn't allowed in the lounge. They get them quite frequently. The only one that has any skin to skin contact will be her two daughters, no sign on them so it has to be the staff.

They didnt have the residents meeting. The manager is sick Again.

Have a fab day everyone
Scabies is a laundry issue, common through all care facilities that are poorly managed on the housekeeping side. As if the residents didn't suffer enough...

Very dull skies today, but that will be good for my deck rearranging plans. Move, scrub, and rinse to get rid of all that wind blown dust and dirt. My peaches are pinking up and the harvest is looking good, making up for last years complete wipe out I hope. The neighbours are already eyeing the bounty, lol. Should be a very peaceful weekend, from the look of the traffic yesterday everyone has gone away for the long weekend, lol.
Warm & windy here but supposedly the wind will die down later. Hung out washing so fingers crossed it doesn't end up in Hokitoka.

Was outside earlier & Madame Le Dog was busily chewing a piee of bark as she does when I noticed Madame Le Cat also chewing something...surely not bark, I thought & hada closer look.

Oh dear; she had a small piece of sausage. I hadn't given her sausages nor do we have any in the house & I have no idea where she acquired it from; it seems she is a - cat burglar!
Smile

(Sorry, unablle to resist!)
We had a cat burglar years ago in Taupo. He loved wet clothes and regularly brought them home to us. One day he arrived with a very wet child sized wool kilt, he had a corner in his teeth, walking spread legged head held high as he dragged the wet load under his belly. Seeing the property was mostly fenced we did wonder how he got the thing over those, and he was so proud of his catch it was almost cruel to retrieve it!

Its not uncommeon for cats to be burglars apparently; a few people have problems with their felines 'acquiring' things. Shoes are favoured, but anything & everything can find its way home with a determined cat. Big Grin
The sausage was probably left on someone's BBQ, Lilith lol.

MrK is building me a new stand for the dish I use as a bird bath. The old tree trunk it is currently on is rotting and needs replacing. This one is being made from an old totara fence post and has that rustic look. New timber would look wrong with all my old fence posts standing like sentinels to support the taller plants.
My bird bath is on one of our fence posts, one of those big round ones that supports the gate. Must be decades old, it is original to this village, built back in the 60s. Still, the birds love it, they don't mind old stuff!
Our Bob cat was a kleptomaniac. He brought almost everything home. But the worst was a wooden spoon with batter on it, still wet.
He never brought a wallet packed with cash home tho lol

All their washing is sent offsite to a laundromat, so they are probably sharing with the whole town. Ill suggest to Dianne that she might like to do her mothers washing, she has a sister that could share the job.

The Blood came out of my dress, and the other doesn't smell of rotten Milk so Ill call it a successful day.

Gassed with a friend for 2.5 hours, missed our Tuesday phone call so had alot to catch up on lol.
morning ladies Smile We have reallllly thick fog here Big Grin And still people travel through it without their lights on!

We've never had cats that stole anything, you would think our last two would have as they were wild cats on a farm and had to fend for themselves for a while before they came to us.

The rain we have been promised hasn't come to much which means the hose will go on the garden. I couldn't live in town now with the restrictions, but I do try and restrict how many times I water the garden. And I'm planting more drought tolerant plants. The mulch helps as well.

I've 'discovered' Reticello embroidery and omggg I'm in love lol. It's an Italian style of stitching and is based around hardanger. Can't wait to try it.

MrK has finished watering the vegies, my turn to use the hose.

Morning everyone

Wet here again. Was slightly warmer overnight. But no fan this morning.

I got two bags of rubbish done yesterday. I figure its easier to whip through and biff what is too worn and old , which will make it easier to decide what is sellable and what can go to the Oppie for them to sell too. Ours isn't taking donations again at the mo. They are a big store but we also have very generous people who donate a lot or stuff. but when its over full out the back it makes it harder for the 'Staff' mentally. Which I totally understand.

I've decided to give FB a go for some sales, just in local groups for now. And what doesn't move can go on TM .

Ohh the final of the cricket today, Must watch that while listing things.

I've decided to have a look at the Missy diamond painting I made for MrP and see if I can simply change the frames. Pick out any glass shards that may have stuck to the picture.

Have a fab day everyone
Morning all
Overcast and wind
Good dollop of rain yesterday morning but the with wind and sun everything will dry out quickly.

Like the look of reticello embroidery KM. I did have a look at fabric for hardanger project I want to replace  my red table runner. No red.. been a while since I bought any fabric back then the local shop sold material by square  cm so prettymuch no waste projects.

Started making new quilt yesterday because I can going well  so far.

DD calling around later so we can sort out our holiday accommodation

Enjoy your day
Well hell. I do believe I'm finally going doo lally... was sitting at the table this morning, waiting for the coffee & thought I heard it bubble.
So put on my reading glasses to hear it better with!

Oh dear. Well, at least it gave me a good laugh, & a very odd look from Madame Le Dog.
lol Lilith, that's up there with looking for your glasses when you are wearing them!

We picked our very first handful of blueberries a few minutes ago, soooo good! And the grapes are ripening up.

Our son tells us it is pis**** down in Hamilton and to expect the rain. I'll believe it when I see it.
Its absolutely hosing down up here Kiwimade.. it will come lol
Solid silver cloud, lots of pitter patter, but no heavy stuff yet.

Ooops, spoke too soon. Let's hope no repeat of our previous disaster...
We could do with rain here, way too hot again & its very dry on the plains.

Sweetie darling no.2's three kids turned up earlier, having said they'd all come over for a visit & what's more, they're going to make it a once a month visit.

Hmm..I suspect they've worked out that we don't often see each other much, they're all so busy working or parenting & eventually I'll exit stage left so they'd best visit while they can.
I don't mind at all,in the event it was those three & an honorary granddaughter (partner of a grandson) & of course the gorgeous new baby (5 months) & it was lovely to see them & have a bit of a catch up; the youngest started his new job & is enjoying it after Uni but still talking about maybe working in Oz at some point.
I can understand why but dread them heading to OZ in case they never come back.
It is hard, doing family at long distance. But then I think of my grandparents in Edinburgh, and my great grandparents in Cornwall, and in Bombay - they went through the same dislocation. Even my own parents, when me'n him did our Melbourne thing...

Human beings migrate. It is what we do. It might be what all living things do, that seeking better lives...

Well, yes it surely is. All our ancestors moved around to some extent, starting with the move out of Africa. It must have been awful for the families of convicts sent to Australia, they'd almost certainly never see or hear of them again.

The thing is though that youngest grandson's partner is the only girl in her family (she has five older brothers. He's a brave lad, is youngest grandson! Big Grin ) so its unlikely her family woul;d be keen on them moving away. Mind you, they're a fairly determined pair so we'll see what happens.
morning ladies Smile The rain came and left Big Grin Now I need to rescue one of the standard roses that was battered about in the wind. I must admit I enjoyed the rain, it gave me a chance to work on the runner.

Nice that your family has decided on regular visits, Lilith Smile Heart

Yesterday I posted for sale our boat rods, spare reels, a field tool kit and some bricks on FB Marketplace. Two reels and the field tool kit have been sold already. I think the expenses of sending kids back to school have slowed the sale of the rods though. I remember when our kids were at school, we would save during the year for their school uniforms and books for the following year. It's different today though, times are a lot tougher.

SH29 is really quiet, to the point where we haven't had a car go by for a while now. I know it's Auckland Anniversary, but it makes me think there is an accident somewhere. The Kaimais will be slippery after all the rain.

Morning everyone

Still damp here but not raining at the mo.

Had a call from Maureen last night. Her Daughter had got her an electric frying pan and she was trying to cook some fish cakes but it wouldn't heat up. So I popped over, she had the cord stretched and it must have only just been not making contact. So I cooked those, she didn't want anything else and made her a good strong cup of tea. So I moved it over a bit and told her all she had to do was turn it on at the wall.

Her Daughter and family are away at the mo, so Im happy I can help out. Must remember to get her milk on my way home today.

Off to see the girls today. And Im taking the wheelchair up for David to Borrow. They are having a family gathering for a memorial for his Uncle. And he was worried his Mum might get too tired to walk. Im just happy it can be used. I will probably sell it at some stage. But thought Id hang onto it for post my surgery just incase I have a bad day. Not something I want to be in all the time. But If Im sore or tired and need to do something it will help.

Sold a few things on FB too. Some to one of the receptionist at the med center. Who goes by Yvonne but her real name is Clarice. Now that's a very old name, and I've not known a Clarice before. She is retirement age. And didn't know how to do PMs on FB so I left a message one the post and said I would ring the med center today.

I've decided to be ruthless. Things can go on FB for a week, then trade me for 2 listings then off to the Oppy. I have a lot of stuff to get rid of. I want to be sort of minimalous (sp) and only keep what I need and what is my colours.

I wish now that we still had our Bus. it would be plenty for just me. Oh well we cannot see into the Future.

Have a fab day everyone
