Good morning.

Sunny and warm already.

Such a thrilling rugby game. The whole country behind them with such inspiring players. Love the way poi have featured  Smile I bet there are some sore bodies today though!

A good day out in the garden yesterday ... the rain has been so beneficial. Each time I hang out the washing there are more passionfruit vines having to be detached from the line!

A go with the flow day here as well today.

Enjoy the day all.
Morning all
Steady rain here DH happy as he has replanted some of DD lawn.

Played with fabric yesterday now have 6 star blocks for a cot quilt 3 more to make today.

Late breakfast this morning when I am finished will pop over to neighbours to turn on the water system for the glass houses. There might be some strawberries to pick first Cool

We have a resident Morepork love hearing the calls at night.

Enjoy your day
Morning everyone

Has been raining here too. Was warm through the night.

I didn't see the game, and haven't looked yet to see who won. And None of you have said lol

Once my pills kick in, cos some silly cow got on the floor twice yesterday and is suffering for it now, I will go back in the sewing cave, cos it looks bad.. but is a work in progress.
What surprised me is my 9 drawer scotch chest was chokka of wool. Yet it only filled 10 of the 12 cubbyholes.. My aim is to tidy both tables today.

First time I ever heard a morepork was a few years ago when MrP had an early MRI appointment. It was about 7amish and broad daylight.. We decided he was singing his mates home from a "Tree Crawl".. A beautiful, almost haunting sound when compared with a Tui. We are soo lucky to have so many native birds... Its just popped into to mind, do Fantails make a sound? I will have to look online.

Kiwimade are you doing the quail with the little tuft thing on its head?

I have Susan Calman on and I could sit and listen to her speaking all day. And shes such a hard case. Its like being on holiday with her.

Have a fab day everyone
They 'peep' repeatedly and with great excitement. Easy to talk back to them and they are so nosy they will come closer and closer when you do it. They are a favourite of mine when they come in to our garden...

Awesome. Thanks OHH
Fantails are quite 'squeaky' lol. You can rub some damp polystyrene on glass and that will attract them too as it makes a similar sound. And yes, popeye, I've stitched the quail's top knot Big Grin The males have a very pretty blue chest too.
How on earth did you learn about the damp polystyrene on the glass lol?

Ther was a massive family of the quails by the Whakamaru Dam in South Waikato. They were often out sunbathing first thing in the morning as we went through to Tokoroa for shopping

Yay we won lol

I think Pepsi is trying to tell me something. On Thursday I dropped some bottles off the walker I was using to carry far too ,any and have bruises on my arms and a knee. Then this morning I was minding my own business opening an already opened bottle and ended up havimgn a second shower. from Boob level to nearly my feet, the chair the floor and my mousepad lol.... Thankfully Not the Lappy.

Does it want me to stop buying it????

You should, it is addictive stuff, lol. Almost as addictive as that coffee stick stuff I emptied over my pretty rug yesterday...
Yep I'd give up if I were you Popeye - both Coke & Pepsi are quite addictive & not really good for us.

Finally some rain here last night; if they keep predicting it every day, sooner or later they'll get it right.

Made a bit of progress today & made a template for cover & linings for notebooks ready to go once I get my hands on some decent paper. Then cleared some weeds, did a bit of washing & took Madame Le Dog for her walk, did a bit more painting & started another, (a transcription this time) from an image I came across & love.
Good afternoon from a very warm HB - lot of cloud - rain seems to have gone but we needed it
Have been seemingly swimming against the tide for the last couple of weeks - our Ukrainians are heading to Oz - the immigration lawyer can have them all together over there by Christmas with the baker being allowed to bake . The immigration lawyer received notification from our govt that it could be 2 to 4 years before he can get back in the country to work -even though he had been working here for 18 months before he went home for 2 weeks to help the family move after they finally got a space in MIQ -then the war started. The family went down for a meeting with an MP - who has been referred to as a bully in the media - the school headmaster arranged the meeting - he was not interested that the job wasn’t just a baker but it was teaching  kids from the local high school who were dropping out - many of these kids are so creative that baking gives them a real sense of purpose that learning history doesn’t - they absolutely thrived under him - he was used to having multiple apprentices - the MP wasn’t interested in the info from the parents of the kids - or that  two kiwi bakers had tried with the kids but couldn’t do it - they didn’t lose their jobs for the Ukranian they are working in another part of the bakery -but the govt are not interested - told her they should never have tried to settle here - she can stay as a refugee - the kids are  devastated but they want to be with their Dad .The immigration lawyer told her even Doctors are leaving because they can’t get their families in - one Canadian doctor who had been given a visa sent his belongings ahead of the family precovid - their containers  full of all their belongings are here but his post covid visa still isn’t through - absolute madness - the baker was turning the lives of young people around - the MP claimed it was a money making scheme but the kids were being paid $25.74 an hour which is the normal starting rate - two of them are out at EIT doing apprenticeships purely because the baker let them blossom - yes kiwis come first in the job queue but there just aren’t enough kiwis
The latest thing from the jobseeker job applicants is to use the very worst swear word you can call a female interviewer so they ensure they don’t get offered a job and so remain on the  benefit -
Alls not well with our world that’s for sure- but one thing is for sure my grandkids will be better for the experience
Thats such horrible news Jan.

I hate some of the laws we have cos there's simply no sense in some of them. The only good thing is they will be together again.

Lilith there's no chance I'll ever give up Pepsi lol.. I am totally addicted. It's my equivalent to other people's coffee or tea. I drink sugar free tho, can't stand the sweetened stuff lol. It just better stop harming me lol.

In 2018 when I had my hernia repair I had a bottle sitting on the table in the hospital and one of the nurses said to me "Do you know how many chemicals are in that stuff?" I said yeah, but probably way less than the pills you make me swallow.. She conceded I was probably right lol.

Im am Totally worn out but love the order now once again set in my sewing room. It gets soo hot in there in the full afternoon sun. Im considering making curtains and putting up some wires. The stupid vertical blinds in this house are a mess and there's a lot missing in there. I have some thermal drape fabric that with a wing and a prayer might be enough. I won't need to have them all gathered etc. Just enough to cover the gaps really. Then they might be ok in another place..
morning ladies Smile A beautiful start to the day so far with thunder storms due this afternoon. You're right, Lilith, sooner or later they will get it right. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

What a blimmen shame, Jan. That poor family and after being through so much. I wish them all the very very best for their futures.

I haven't drunk fizzy drink for years but the other day I had some L&P. OMG it was so sweet, I ended up tipping it out. I asked son, when did it become so sweet, and he said it has always been that way, mum. I guess my taste buds have changed quite a bit over the years since drinking water, tea, coffee or whiskey Tongue. Yesterday we had a farewell doo for friends, and I was drinking my go-to soda water with lime and a dash of bitters as I was the sober driver. Speaking of drinking, hells bells, when did $11 for a glass (not even a handle) of beer come in? Just shows how long it has been since we have been to a pub lol.

No gardening today as both bins are full of garden lawn clippings and weeds I can't/won't compost and a few more pieces of concrete.

The top of the quail's head is done, it looks a bit odd as the angle of the stripes make the head look square rather than curved.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning all
Lovely day again

Finished star quilt top and even got it sandwiched up to quilt.

Off to dentist soon to get broken tooth seen to then food hunting. Hope to get time to quilt this afternoon.

Don't like fizzy sweet drinks either KM.

Enjoy your day
Morning everyone

A stunner here too...

Meant to go and visit MrP today and cut his hair and tidy him up, But once again he threw a wobbly and hung up.. so his hair cut will be delayed. He wont see how much pain I live with.

KM theres a sugar free L&P, which is rather yummy when fridge cold. I havent had any of the Non sugar free ones for years , cant handle them either.. And to my Utter delight they now have Sugar free Duet... It does taste slightly different but still yummy.

How is your Son's Shoulder KM?

Soo since Im home Im going to hobble around and vacuum.. So Badly needed, but Im glad I left it until after my Construction sessions on Saturday.

I do love my lovely tidy sewing room tho. It was pretty much the last bit to tackle. Well apart from MrPs room and I just leave the door closed and only go in when he asks for something.

Do need to go pick up some pills later but Ill ring them first.

Have a fab day everyone...

Both will hurt the pocket for sure Mica.
These products are labeled sugar free but in reality they are sweetened with a chemically devised alternative, usually aspartame, though some use stevia. Both come with real risks. Natural sugar is safer if used in small quantities, but in most commercial products the quantities are far from small, which is the problem.

Homemade is always better because we can control the ingredients. Including fizzy drinks.

True OHH.

But I figure with the amount of chemicals I have to put in my system daily to "keep me alive" adding something I enjoy is worth it.
Life is to be lived.
Good morning.

Lovely day, will need to watch the burning factor with it being grandies day!

Jan I hope the Ukranian family have a great life together in Oz after our Government's disgraceful performance.

I avoid anything with aspartame after a session of headaches while taking berocca  ... a pick-me-up after a lengthy cold .... a bit of research alerted me to that fact! That includes soda water with the odd gin rather than tonic water! Agree, real sugar in moderation better than the fake stuff.

I've been alerted to the fact it's morning tea time by the 3yo GD, who has finished her doll's house playing, so had better hop to!

Enjoy the day all.

Yes I saw that.. Do they do the Pepsi max or the raspberry Pepsi Max?  I dont know how it would be cost wise.

Ive had a good morning.

Vaccd the whole house. Turned the washing, put recycles out, tidied my shelves beside my chair and wrapped two wool parcels.
Im a demon with tape but I try and make them as small as possible to keep the cost down for my buyers, in this case a Sister friend and my Sister in law.

The lady messaged me that she wouldn't get here for the drawers today, so it will be tomorrow. So nice when they let you know in advance.

Time to enjoy Emmerdale and then go get my pills. I have a $10 voucher for the chemist so might see what pretty little something I can reward myself with.
Cool and dull again today although yesterday was nice and hot.

Sorry to hear of all the problems your Ukrainian friends are having Jan W. Hopefully they can settle down and make a new life in Australia.

Apart from the health issues associated with those fizzy drinks I don’t know how anyone can afford them on a regular basis these days especially the big brand ones. The Christmas cakes I make soak the fruit in ginger ale and I was quite surprised at how much the price of a bottle had risen in the past year.

Have a healthy stevia plant and use the leaves to sweeten stewed fruit and make a refreshing lemon drink from it too. Ok there are bits of green in the finished fruit or drink but I don’t mind that and obviously visitors don’t mind either or are too polite to say anything  Smile
