morning ladies Smile Another stunning day here today.

Olive, I know that regret. And it is expensive to replace what has been given away. But it doesn't all have to be bought at once. Just the basics like good scissors. You probably still have pins and the like and I'm sure things like tape measures are buried in draws somewhere.

That blimmen army worm! We haven't seen it in our garden but I'll tell MrK about it just in case. Might have to do a bit of research about them. It's colder in the Waikato so fingers crossed they don't go any further than Hamilton. Our silver beet has been munched on by the sparrows of all things. But I have never heard of rhubarb being attacked by bugs. We also thought the leaves were toxic and pretty much bullet proof bug wise. The bok choy MrK planted is doing amazingly well. The cabbage butterflies have ignored them completely. Maybe they just haven't developed a tasted yet for Asian vegies.

I am so pleased Serina won the Sewing Bee in last evening's final episode of the Great British Sewing Bee. I had her pegged from the start to win. Everything she did, she sewed well. And that praise from Esme... just whoah lol. I loved her dress (glad I wasn't sewing it though lol) although Raphs gown was stunning but it needed hemming. The floral number wasn't my cup of tea. It wasn't the design, it was the fabric. I think it would have been a lot more elegant in a different fabric.

Today I have the lawn to mow and edges to trim. MrK suggested I use some very old telephone cross bars from a pole for the edging of the garden I have extended. Which means more concrete edging to get rid of. But he's offered to cut the bars to size for me and cut angles so they sit well together. I am slowly working my way through his stash lol. He will be 79 next month and I suspect his timber stash will still be there after he has fallen off his perch so he wants to see this sort of thing being used. And I am more than happy to use the cross bars and get rid of the concrete. I have a plan where all the garden edgings are railway sleepers or old fence posts eventually. A slow and steady process.

Time to get cracking. Washing machine has beeped and I see the bottom of my coffee mug.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning all
Another stunning day here too

Hope everyone's gardens stay predator free.

No sewing yesterday food hunting and went to quilt fabric shop for DD. We off up the  coast this morning to get some thread the right colour for the applique she is doing.

2022 Series 8 E1 showed on BBC 1 last Wednesday, I watched it yesterday it will be a fun group too. If people are interested when I am on my computer I will post a link

Trying our new slow cooker this morning pumpkin and coconut soup.

Have a good day

Heres the link to watch the current series, if it doesnt open try again later but watch it soon as it wont stay for long https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b0cEo7Y...jehwZ/view
Made pea'n ham soup yesterday and had some for dinner, it is a very good batch! As I never use a recipe each time it is slightly different, a cool weather staple in this home! And a neighbour handed me half a punnet of beetroot seedlings as he had bought too many for his potted garden, so those went in as well. Quite a productive day all told, especially having had my windows fixed so I can close them properly for the really cold nights ahead. In the process the guy pointed out a potential problem near my guttering, looks like an established leak has finally broken through so the community manager was round to photograph it for the maintenance people. Means more intrusive contractors making mess and noise I suspect but that is better than the problem getting worse.

Looks like a gorgeous day ahead, I intend to make the most of it!
Morning everyone

Going to be a stunner here too..

Im hibernating for the weekend. I ended up being out for a while yesterday too. MrP wasn't too good. Even asked me about our Bird Sparky who died years ago.

I went to the Junktion, recycling centre, I felt I had to go. And Im soo pleased I did. There on a shelf was a pull apart swiss roll tin, like the one that my so called friend stole from me.. Its rusty but Ill soon take care of that. and I always line trays anyway. Was soo stoked cos you dont see them around very often. My other one was my stepfathers. Also got some very retro single sheets which I will list on FB in a retro group I'm in. People pay ridiculous amounts for them lol

Then I went to St Andrews our only open oppy at the mo and managed to get a beautiful red cardigan with the big drapey fronts on it. And only an XL.. I was just crossing my fingers that the sleeve would fit as I have inherited my grandmothers big arms.. and they fit fine, so that's my winter clothes sorted lol.

I too thought right from the start that Serina would win the Sewing Bee.. Like I did with Giuseppe winning the bake off from right at the start... I liked the floral dress style but not the fabric. It looked like it would have been perfect for a toilet bag lol.

Im having a very quiet weekend letting the bones rest lol..

Have a fab day everyone
Hibernation is such a good thing to do now and then. It restores the energy banks. Like recharging our phones...

I think it should be encouraged during winter, with plenty of books, movies & chocolate - Whittakers, naturally.

Totally agree... And for some reason staying home and hibernating is different to being in lock down. Cos we are doing it cos we really want to.

I've done absolutely nothing today and dont feel the slightest bit guilty about it either lol
Good. I had a shower at 2.30, did dishes at 3 and put the chicken thing someone has given me (looks like meat loaf) in the oven at half past. Oh and I watered the beetroot. But that's it.

I had planned to change the sheets, but a book got in the way. Another one might do it again tomorrow.
I managed washing & the compulsory dog walk...& a bit of reading & mucking about with a painting or two.

Oh alright - it was quite a lot of reading.
morning ladies Smile It's a cloudy start to the day, we need rain so fingers crossed.

Hibernating over winter sounds perfect. And yes, it has to be Whittakers chocolate too. Although, the Quarter Past (spelling?) drinking chocolate looks pretty good too. The one Rachael Hunter advertises. If I can get all these autum garden things done, then that is exactly what I plan to do. With lotttssss of books. I might even be able to embroider and sew more. Except for the week the whanau will be staying and we have our Big Auckland Trip. No chance of hibernating then.

Boy my body knows it worked yesterday lol. More concrete fill edging was dug out and moved to make way for the telephone pole cross bars. Heaven only knows how many tonne of concrete we have gotten rid of so far. This morning I'll dig the new bit over to even out the soil and MrK said he will help with cutting the posts. Then I can have another shuffle of some plants. When the kids were babies, my mother-in-law gave us some pretty cream primulas but when we sold our home in town, they were left behind. My sister-in-law gave us more when we moved here and I have been babying them along. Now I will have the perfect spot for them. When spring comes, there is going to be quite a bit of new planting with two extended gardens. Wasn't planning on two extensions, it just happened. Like Lilith, one thing becomes two and so on.

I am hoping I can embroider today. The falcon is staring at me accusingly demanding to know where the rest of his body is.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning all

Overcast today.
Having a wee lie in reading  Big Grin

My sewing mojo has up and left home hopefully it returns soon refreshed.

Seems like there is alot to do in gardens at this time of the year my DH has been out in ours and DD every day this week.

No plans other than DD invited us to hers for mothers day brunch today only a week early Big Grin Big Grin we had a laugh about that.

Enjoy the day
It was a red dawn this morning, so staying in might be the best option.

I had fun this week, I bought a punnet of four mini cyclamen plants and have planted them up in a very old cracked Wedgwood tureen. The look so good on my pretty white table on the deck, everytime I see them it makes me smile.

Sometimes it is the little things we do that are the best.
Good morning all.

Just back from the supermarket and it's pouring.  Just as well for the underground parking!

Your garden sure is a work in progress KM ... but doesn't the result give satisfaction.  Just as well I now have boundary wooden fence on one side and concrete edging the other! I was once good at extending garden size  Big Grin

OHH, a good example of life's simple pleasures with your cyclamens.

Might be some reading on the cards here ... or there is a wasgij half completed that the family started! We got engrossed in E1 of the current drama My House and HAD to watch it all ... 11pm finish!

Mica, my DIL also sent me a Happy Mother's Day message  Smile

Have a good day.
Good morning everyone

A stunner here but chilly...

I noticed last night that the jonquils or daffodils are taller than the old violets in my massive pot. Im like gee its still only Autumn lol... I only have flowers on my white geranium, none on the pink and still no sign on the mystery. I have more pots so I might take cuttings from the three I have and see if they out do the originals.

I did absolutely nothing yesterday and enjoyed it lol... This morning Ive already done my bed. Figured Id get it out of the way first lol..

MrP was in a bad way yesterday. They gave him an oxycontin, which is a first for him. but last night he was giving in. The GP will see him tomorrow.. I would prefer it if they sent him to Hospital, so will see how he is this morning. And Im talking Auckland hospital as that is Hearts and Heads, Middlemore is Burns and Babies.

While this new pill means Im losing weight (17 kilos now) Yay, it also leaves me Never hungry, so I have to force myself to eat and Ive been trying to Tempt myself to eat.. The other day Valerie Bettinelli made a really simple Alfredo, as I only needed to buy the parmesan cheese I treated myself since like Kiwimade our birthdays are this week. So I've decided to skip lunch in the hope that Im hungry enough to want tea... Ill make the Alredo and have some bacon with it. Cos Cheese and bacon works lol... So fingers crossed Ill actually be hungry enough to want to eat it lol..

Have a fab day everyone.... Don't do anything I wouldn't do lol
The new part of the garden has been dug over and the old fence posts are in place. Tomorrow I'll dig them in properly.

My sister-in-law phoned today as she said it's raining in Tauranga. Lucky you Roma! We need the rain here!

Those cyclamen sound so pretty OHH. I love the teeny tiny ones. And nothing like upcycling cracked pottery, they make awesome pots.

Yep, it's our birthdays this week, popeye. Family are coming for lunch which will be nice.

And wait for this one ladies, lmao. Our daughter phoned at the beginning of last month to wish me happy birthday and mothers day lmaoo. Wonder if she remembers this week lol. Sounds like our daughters would get on very well lol.
I put two potted hydrangeas into the corner garden under the peach tree. Both were grown from cuttings and after their summer prune are bursting new buds, so perfect time to do it. I hope they like that sheltered wee spot, spring bulbs at their feet, mirabilis to keep them company in the summer. I will need to get some mulch - that bed is pretty much all potting mix and some made compost which drains very fast.

But it should be easily managed for the future as I become more of a crip...
Took dog for a long-ish early walk so she was a happy camper. Haven't done that much apart from a few paintings & another strudel for the freezer - have to hurry up & sort out the freezer, need more room as I'd rather not waste the last of the apples & there's not a lot of room left.
Lol Kiwimade

Now that is Getting in early. And considering April is already a busy month lol...

Well I broke out of my hibernation.

I got the leads and weedeater out and 2.5 hours later Ive done some of the edges lol.. and the patch under the Yukkas with the Hornet two storied abode hanging on it.

But I have also learnt how to thread the cord through. And having done it 3 times, each time I was getting faster. I admit to nearly having tears of frustration for the second time, but I told myself off and got on with it.. So I have one little patch of the edges then its a free for all on the lawn.

An Update on the rest home stuff. The Ministry of health have handed the file over to the DHB and they have been in contact and are investigating... So I guess it might Hit the fan soon ..

MrP still isn't good so Im going to ring in the morning and ask if I can go up earlier , so Im there when the GP is with him.

I had depleted my system this afternoon and my fingers were cramping soo badly I couldn't even open a bottle of drink to help replace the potassium Id lost so I had to go next door to get them to open it for me lol. They have a new kitten, Black and white and her name is Pearl which I think its a pretty name for a pretty kitten.

Time to check FB and then catch some tv
Good luck for tomorrow, and sorry the hibernation fizzled. But it was a glorious day out there. This is my little cyclamen dish...

Good luck Popeye, I so hope it all goes well & brings about the changes needed.
