That reminds me of a family .... many moons ago .... who wouldn't have one in their house. I was amused one year when I had a birthday party for my daughter (a rare event) and invited 2 of the sisters ... at near to pick up time turned on the TV for the afternoon kids' shows. Guess which 2 sat in front of it mesmerised ... the others all outside playing  Rolleyes
I couldn't live without a tv. Its my background company lol..

And I like cooking and house maker over shows lol.

Yeah I think I will stay away from the home. Cos I have to be ready for myself and MrP. Wont be easy tho.

MrP was in a good mood. I fed the birds. Fun watching them fight over the food. Even the smallest wax eyes are not scared to chase bigger birds off so they can have a turn.

Ive had a sale on TM Yay.. just need to decide if Ill buy extra wood pellets which is the "Right" choice or two stools which would put the plant tubs up and save me some pain.. I know which it will be lol.. The wood pellets.

They are soo good to use , and I can throw the waste under the stupid yukkas, instead of the rubbish bags
Yup, that is what I do too, scoop the poop and compost the dust...

Its amazing eh Hunni. Its basically dry.. I reckon its better than the crystal litter. Goes way further too. And now I wont be struggling heavy rubbish bags either.

Ill be buying another bag from my sale money. Keep a supply up, Im trying to think if I've had it 2 or 3 weeks, Ill have to check on the bank I guess. I know it was a Wednesday tho.

Decided to have a look at what MrP had in his area of the garage and decided to use a table that is on wheels, so I cleared it off. Put it out the ranch-slider, played around with the pots. Weeded and I have the chives and two long troughs on the top, geraniums around the bottom.  I will get lettuce and maybe strawberries if there are any left for the troughs.

My friends sold out 1000 kumara slips in less than 48 hours the other day. Have ordered another 1000. Not surprising considering the cost of kumara.

Feels good to have done something useful, instead of sitting moaning about pain lol
I find my grandmother's advice about dark day cures to be absolutely true. She said 'get your hands in the dirt darling, then the dark feelings go into the soil'. Just seeing new growth lifts my mood, and talking to plants is very satisfying. They don't argue the point.

Today's successes are more beans germinating, and three New Zealand spinach seedlings are up. I will need another big bag of vegies mix to sort that lot out...
morning ladies Smile We've had lots of rain again Smile You can pretty much guarantee some rain over Labour Weekend.

Great idea to use the trolley, popeye Smile Amazing what we have at home and can use when we look around.

I'm with you there. OHH Smile Gardening is where I solve the world's problems. Everything seems to melt away as weeding is done, plants planted, and compost shoveled. And there is that feeling of accomplishment even if only a small area has been worked on. Embroidery is another of those 'places' where everything goes away while I concentrate.

This morning I need to go to the supermarket. There was no flippin way I was going there over the long weekend. The older I get, the more I hate crowds. Especially on hot days. And while I'm at it about crowds, my pet peeve at the moment are those damed kids trolleys with flags on them at Bunnings and the like. A kid nearly bowled MrK over the other day and not a parent in sight.

Morning everyone

Overcast a little today.

I agree with your grandmother Hunni. I enjoyed it yesterday. One part of the country I couldn't garden was Mangakino, for some reason the fine pumis in the dirt aggravated my skin.. And Noo I dont like gardening in gloves lol.

I will move the geraniums around a little bit more so I can see them better. And I might raid the Huge tub of old fashioned violets and plant some in each of the geranium pots. To make more, and they help prevent weeds. A little at a time so I dont bend too much. I do have some 4 x 2 that I might sit the pots on for a little more height too. Need to investigate MrP's area again.

I noticed the swan plants at MrP's home are budding up. He watched a lot of golf yesterday.

Had said I would go to the fist home today. But I dont think I should go. I will let Dianne know but Ill also see if I can talk to Bobbie too. The others will understand more than Bobbie will, although she wont like it I am pretty sure she will agree. Ill try ringing her more often to give her a little of outside contact.. until they give the all clear again.

Tempted to go up to Mitre10 but Ill leave it and do it tomorrow, need to do my bloods as well as seeing MrP.

Have a fab day everyone
Yay vege punnets only $4 at mitre10.. Ill be there tomorrow lol
Did the dreaded shopping & then weeded around the garlic & pumpkin & got the spinach planted finally.

The cat has got used to us. And revealed herself as being somewhat weird.
I've not the least idea how she accomplished it but somehow, using the step stool she managed to get herself, not just into the airing cupboard but the top airing cupboard. She must have had to leap at least a couple of feet to do it but it seems she was after the dog's dental sticks which are kept there. Happily she couldn't open the bag so they're safe. For the moment. Probably until she gets herself some mountain climbing gear.

Oh joy - another weird one, dammit! And she seemed so normal too.
Ahhh well, we both know cats find their perfect match...

I got one who likes to sleep. A lot. Except at 2am when her favourite toy exerts a magnetic call. The toy? A rather large macadamia nut in its shell. On polished wooden floorboards, that thing is loud. Perfect!
I just typed heaps and it vanished.

Cats certainly know when they have the right place. I cant think of anything Missy does that can be annoying. Shes the best alarm clock. Woke me when my heart was doing its thing. She knows that "Beep Beep" means to move or she will be run over.

I have my appointment for my echo, just over 3 weeks away which is fast. Gives me 3 pays to save for the petrol.. I then rang about my knee again. The lady said she would email the team. I said that's what everyone says, and I never hear anything, I wish I could email them. She gave me the address... Not sure if you have a superclinic there Hunni but it was customerservices@superclinic.co.nz worth a try.

I sat the pots on timber, moved them into a workable but also seeable area. Im very pleased. Will get lettuces this week hopefully.

Been a good day
They sent me a phone number in their apology letter, but as I am assuming there are more needy cases ahead of me I'm not pressuring them. It is really only on days like today when the weather is changing that I feel truly crippled. I have got so used to chronic pain I can manage till my number comes up.

And, after all, I am past my three score years and ten now, so every day is a bonus!

I know how you feel Hunni.

I can cope when its just my knee, but my Cartilageless spine and hips along with sore Hammies , that its truly become too much. Stretching helps a little but I look about 190 getting in and out of the car. I need a higher one, but cant get another. If I could take the knee out of the equation it wouldn't be too bad.

I dont like driving when I've had pain meds so its a juggle.  And to top it off the ones I take are on the list for when they start drug testing. so I try and avoid taking them if I have to drive

I am pleased that the echo is sooner rather than later tho, that will be good for the preop
morning ladies Smile Lots and lots of rain this morning and last night. Perfect for those new vegies and the rose.

I'm out once this morning to take my friend's granddaughter to work. She has a midmorning shift and has no transport. No biggie, it won't take long. MrK also wants to buy some timber to support another spot on our fence. The fencing contractor is coming Friday afternoon and will fix it for a box of beer Big Grin In days gone by MrK would have done it himself but not anymore. The boys drink Speights so I bought a box when buying the groceries yesterday. Beats paying their hourly rate and nice to know people still do things 'for a box'.

Seeing as it's raining, I'll get the windows cleaned this morning. I like doing that when the days are overcast. And hopefully some time will be spent on the thrush after I've come back from town.

Morning everyone

Wet here too and a little wind. Not cold tho.

Thank you Kiwimade, I knew there was another job worth doing when its wet. A friend got "Rained " off from water-blasting. I said that's the best time to do it, that and washing your car and also Buying a car. Cos you will know if it leaks.. yep the Aussie lol. She still hasn't done it. She is the most laziest person I know.

The rain will be good for the violets.. I took them from the "other" side of the big tub so I dont see the gap from inside. My chives are doing well this year. Every time I use them I think of my friend whose mother always added it to her salads. Id never eaten them before but a salad aint a salad without them now. They are the most oniony thing I eat lol.

Bloods and MrP this morning, then Ill pop into Mitre10 for the Cat pellets. I need milk so will get that, and buy plants tomorrow instead.

Have a fab day all
Good morning.

Overcast and we've had a bit of rain.

Your cat sounds quite at home now Lilith. I wonder how long my "no more cats" mantra will last after my old boy is no longer!

Is the "for a box" payment a rural thing do you think KM ... certainly a painless method!

Supermarket this morning and library after.  Looking like an inside day ... I shall try and get housework to inspire me.

Enjoy the day all.
Yes, if it settles I too will be librarying and a few last groceries, if it doesn't tomorrow will do as well. Another advantage to being old, calenders and timetables don't have the same imperative...
We've always had the 'for a box' thing even before we moved rural, roma.  It must be the circles we move in, lots of beer drinkers lol.  When we looked after a young woman's car after it broke down outside our home a few years ago, her dad dropped off a box of beer as a 'thank you'.  We didn't ask for it, he just did it.

lol Lilith crazy loves crazy Heart  I wonder too how long our 'no more dogs' thing will last after the Furry One goes.  He arrived after we said no more dogs when our labby died.  Sometimes cats and dogs find us and we are the better for it.

Windows aren't done but the cupboard in the laundry looks good lol.  And the ironing is done.  We can't waterblast in the rain as our waterblaster is plugged into power and it's hard enough keeping the cord dry as it is.  Weeding in the rain is good too as the weeds are easier to pull.
I lasted ten days after CoCo... but I did opt for a senior cat to adopt, and made my age really clear to the person who had her. If something happens to me, she will come and get her, so as to minimise issues for the poor friend lumbered with sorting out my affairs.
Bloody, bloody cat! I had to shut her in her crate this morning, to prevent her 'helping ' me change the sheets. She was not best pleased but is now having a nice snooze in the sun so hoping I'm forgiven.

Its not often I buy anything on impulse, but this morning I was unable to resist a lavender plant, Red fire, which has the most gorgeous big flowers. Not as though I desperately need another lavender but I thought the flowers will be just the thing for the Xmas lavender bags. And it was only $8 so not a huge disaster for the budget. But now I'm not sure whether to plant it outside or put it into a bigger pot, will have to see.
