Morning all
Wildwind overnight and now.

Quilting group today I can only stay for the morning then drive back to city for medical appt.

Got the hang of the crochet granny squares not sure how many I will get from 200gm ball of wool.

Got to move and make myself a snack to take for lunch

Enjoy your day
Morning everyone

Fine and calm here at the mo.. Chilly tho.

My moan.. Im over being in severe pain 30 minutes after getting up., Transmission as normal.

Ages ago I got a gingham red and white of course, teddy bear someone had made. Well I assume it was home made cos it doesn't have a label. It reminded me of when I used to make those Hush puppies. They laid on their tummy with the head between the front paws , had big floppy years and big dark spots on. They were quite the rage back then, Im thinking the Mid 80s maybe.

Anyway since Im enjoying sewing more than knitting or crochet I might see if I can find a sewing pattern for a teddy or animal of some kind. So I will dedicate some times to finding a pattern, online. trade me or spotlight maybe. And I wont make them of typical colours, I have plenty of fabric which will work and make them different.

Lol terriers love their Fake sympathy... Missy is a bit creaky at the mo so I have installed steps for her to get up on my lap where I share my baby hottie with her.

Have a fab day everyone
Good morning.

Wet and gloomy out. I've been and got food supplies, now for coffee and another day in.

Popeye have you ever tried gentle stretching exercises. Your doctor should be able to advise you ... google might help. My DH lives with chronic pain (back, but manifests in hip/leg) and he wouldn't be able to move, if he didn't keep up the stretching (uses an advised plan) ... even goes into the lounge to stretch during the night.  I should join in as I think I would benefit greatly! Nothing worse than living with pain.

Maybe some baking and continue with knitting on the cards.

I have a bag of peggy squares I add to every now and again with scraps, easy way to fill in some time/idle hands.

JRs are real characters for sure.

Enjoy the day.
I scooted down to Devonport to do the groceries early, beating the rain but overdid the shopping a bit. So coming back up the hill the scoot refused the steepest bit of the hill and I had to get off and walk it up over the top. Definitely going to need new batteries before next Winter. And I did beat the rain, as well as scored a couple of good meat bargains, a small roast pork down $5 to $19 (just as well it will do me several meals and some nice lamb chops. Special treats for the oncoming cold days. Dropped off another big bag of goodies to the Sallies to balance out a wee bit of Trademe naughtiness over the weekend so I can feel pure about that bit of frittering. I found a long macrame table runner at a silly price and fancied it as a drop on the inside of my glass front door. The curtain there now needs to come down for a wash and this runner will make an interesting replacement both from inside and out. I am tempted to paint the glass a la Lillith, but can't think of a subject I can live with.

I know how you feel popeye. The weather and the chill are into my bones too, waking up the rust and making me swear some very rude words. Hopping on and off the scoot is best done warily on these chilly days, so I don't offend passers by with the language! My Mum would be horrified how unladylike I have become in my old age! But I am not eager to go on the surgery list with covid surging everytime I consider it. One of my oldest neighbours - 96 - went in after a fall and got covid on the ward which has set her back so badly she has been put into a resthome. She was determined to die in her own bed so I have sympathy for her, but also am grateful we can stop worrying about her. There definitely comes a point when relying on neighbours is not recommended.

Now I shall get back up, sort the last of that shop, put an apple out for the birds, make coffee and relax. A good day's work and it's not even lunchtime yet!
Yep Ive been doing some stretches etc.

I found a good one by luck and my dr said it was the best one to do.

I think its as much pain as it is frustration. I have things I like to do.

Yep OHH I say words that would curl some ears in my family lol.

I cant believe it but I found the sewing pattern which has my teddy in it. In Spotlight... When did patterns get soo expensive? With discount it will be $18-90.. But I think it will be worth it.. Its Simplicity S9441. The Blue teddy. The others will be a bonus. The Dinosaur is cute too. And I have felt I could use for the bits down his spine. I have buttons for joints and eyes and always sew on well so not danger to young ones.

Need to stick to the short food list and get the pattern. Need to buy a couple of little things for Birthday presents too this week.

Will do my shopping price check online then try and keep the walking to a minimum.
Cute teddy pattern Popeye and the others also. That looks a good idea with buttons to enable legs/arms to move.  Indeed, the pattern prices are terrible. By the time you buy all the fabric and accessories it's no wonder people buy ready made! I have a couple of boxes of patterns for myself, kids,  dolls clothes and a few others from 40 or more years ago ... something else adding to the "need to clean out" list!

Rain had stopped, should go for a walk .....
phew, made it home before the rain and the washing is mostly dry on the line. I feel almost saintly!

The pak n save I go to have a trolley with fruit and some veg seconds in it and this morning bought a nice sized bag of apples for 99cents for the waxeyes. But looking closer at them they will be fine stewed with our rhubarb too. So I've cut three in half for the waxeyes and the rest are in the fridge for now.

I complimented a mum today on her young son's manners. Excuse me please and thank you as he went around me. I thought mum needed to know what a lovely young man he was. We are often criticized for our kid's behaviour but not complimented that much.

Lovely pattern, popeye, you should have some fun with that Smile And yes, patterns are expensive.

The Furry One is legal Big Grin, now the tricky part is getting collar back on him lol. He loves not wearing it so we have to be devious to get it back on. Yep, he's spoilt Heart

Jack Reacher is calling me Tongue time to read another chapter.
Some dogs aren't above the odd fake limp for a bit of attention; I think its an indication of intelligence really. That, & cunning. Smile

Years ago when my grandkids were smaller I let the two eldest paint on a window each in my workroom. It was a day or two later - & far, far too late to remove it without a scrubbing - when I noticed the eldest had included the word bugger in her window. Its still there.

Did the dreaded grocery run & only once I was back again did I realise I'd forgotten bananas so will have to go back tomorrow, weather permitting & then after a quick coffee managed to get the front lawn mowed & did a quick prune & weeding once I finished. Thankfully no rain but its getting a bit colder now so who knows what the weather will do.

I've decided to always compliment people when its warranted, because a while ago, a young woman came into a mall I was in & she had the most gorgeous bluey-green hair colour. Without even thinking about i said 'I love your hair, its gorgeous' - & her entire face lit up, just from one small comment which obviously made her feel really good. So I decided thsat the world needs more compliments. And colour. Smile
I totally agree Kiwimade, re praising the Mum

Yesterday I nearly cried when the neighbours son came and took the recycle wheelie bin from me and asked where it went.

Im not used to asking for help and still very flattered and thankful when people do something nice for me
Just spent a lovely hour watching my 14 year old grandaughter live on YouTube playing under 16 Hockey for Hawke’s Bay in Hamilton .I wonder if it is because of covid that school sport is now being live streamed - not so many parents willing or able to travel maybe .But it was great she must be so annoying to those trying to defend her - she reminds me of an agile flea -she was brain damaged at birth was supposedly never likely to walk - has dyslexia but it sure doesn’t hold her back on the sports field
My grandson has had not such a good morning - all the chiller staff are off with the flu - didn’t take advantage of the free flu shot - so he went down to help out in the chillers - a shopper recognised him and gave him a mouthful about him working there instead of his father paying somebody - you just can’t win - lucky he is very sure of himself - enough about my grandkids
Popeye the pattern is lovely - I used to use a doll needle and use buttons on both arms to fix them on and make the arms movable - strong cotton and go right through the body - one button to the other
Next door are having some work done on their lawn - company is called Pimp my Lawn which tickled my fancy
Saw a hilarious video on Facebook of a cat who didn’t like using the cat door - he would limp over the deck and sit outside looking mournful - the owner would open the door and in he ran perfectly fit .
There are so many animals being given up presumably because the owners can’t feed them -some of them are grey round the muzzle would break my heart - the food rescues have pet food - hope they have explored all their options before breaking their pets hearts .Being a but hypocritical when I think about that we had two Pekingese way back in the day and after about 3 years one decided she was going to kill the other - we tried to keep them apart but the kids were quite young and would forget to shut the door - the vet bills were horrendous but it was just the sheer cruelty of trying to keep them made me decide to do what was right - she went to somebody I knew well which made it easier
The days just about gone already - no crocheting done again today - my heads full of crafty intentions - but !!
My Grandmother had Pekes, so I grew up with them and have loved them ever since. We don't see many these days, they are beautiful dogs. Very loyal.
We have had a rough time re dogs in our lives.

Someone hurt our first Foxy by yanking her back legs out. And the vet said the surgery was thousands and probably still wouldnt work. And she would never be a normal dog again. We stopped her suffering.

Our Foxy boy ended up being pts as we didnt know that the old fella naxt door was hitting "Digger" and shacking his walking stick at him. This when MrP started using his walking stick Digger was petrified. The vet said he was mentally damaged and would always flinch and run.

But one of my saddest things is not actually knowing what happened to our girl Foxy. When we moved she went and stayed with a friend. She loved him and he loved her. Sadly our friend died out in his garage, and it was actually MrPs ex wife who noticed "Bella" sitting on Tommies front porch where she waited for him to come home. And she realised she hadnt seen Tommie around and Bella had been there for days.. I can picture her sitting there... But I know they found Tommie, but I dont know what happened to Bella, and another friend said its better not to know... I think its worse as I have this picture in my head.

But Ill always be grateful for the happiness they all brought us and I know that Bella loved Tommie.
It is awful not knowing their ending. We had a wee Cornish Rex who 'disappeared' after a contractor visited the property. It has stayed with me ever since. It is so much easier and better to have been there than to not know.

I totally agree.. Not knowing or imagining is horrible. But I know she was loved ..
Yippee had a good sale om TM

Definitely buying the pattern. I just hope they have it in Pukekohe.. Ill ring tomorrow and ask. Before I walk all the way in lol.

Soo excited

Ohh should look at sewing machine oil too lol. Since the safe place is too safe
morning ladies Smile Another wet day today.

Jan, I feel for your grandson. The customer had no right to say what he did as it's none of his business your grandson was working there. He should have been grateful someone was doing the job. Streamlining the kids sport is such a good idea and I bet you get a better view of the game too.

We have luckily never had a pet disappear on us and have always been able to do the deed at the end.

Well done on the sale, popeye. Fingers crossed they have the pattern. Years ago the staff would get the pattern from the cabinet for you, now you do it yourself. So prices up and service down.

I love the sound of your 'buggar' window, Lilith lol. Now you can buy liquid chalk for glass that wipes off.

Today I'm taking our friend to Hamilton for another appointment, he has one next week too. Both different departments of the hospital.

Friday should be fine according to the weather people so I plan to spend the day pruning roses and MrK wants to finish pruning the plum tree. I won't let him do that without me around 'just in case'.

Hopefully I can spend some time with the butterfly today.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning all
Lots of rain but no wind
It will be an indoor day today.

Got the appt for smear this morning then I can get on with my day. Plan on sewing something.

Wouldn't be surprised if DD turns up today due to weather and fact the groups she attends aren't on in school holidays.

DH prepping a nice beefcassorole to put in slow cooker

Enjoy your day
100 pages! Gee we yak a lot!
Good morning everyone

Yep 100 pages.. But I would miss it if we couldnt Yak. It keeps me sane.

I think I may have been doing more harm than good. I realised I was walking different, trying to not use the bad knee so much and actually taking bigger steps.
So Im making myself walk smaller more normal steps, and even tho it doesnt feel as safe, Im hoping the strength will rebuild. And Ive done all my morning stuff and Im not sitting here crying or feeling sorry for myself. So maybe Im on to something.

Im meant to be going up to see MrP, but Im going to disappoint him and not go. I need to do my blood and Ill get that done today and I need a couple of things from the supermarket.
He probably wont be happy but I have to pace things out and around taking pain meds. And it wont be forever. And sometimes, like Monday he barely spoke.

Wise woman Kiwimade, never leave a man on his own when Pruning lol...

Right I need to ring Spotlight..

Oh a bit of advice, is there anything else you can use to oil your sewing machines? $15 for 125 mills sounds disgusting..

Have a fab day everyone
Machine oils are specially processed I believe, hence the price. And they do last, I must have three or four tiny bottles scattered around the stash!

I took a bit of sandpaper to the kauri chessboard my husband made (with chess pieces) for my Father as a Christmas present in 1980. It is a massive slab inset with cream and green tiles to match the pieces, and over the years has gathered lots of watermarks and stains. So I sat on the stool and worked away at it and then wiped it down with olive oil from the kitchen. Boy, what an improvement! I could feel the two of them looking over my shoulder and telling me that wasn't a bad job at all...

It is a pity I do not have room to set the board up with the pieces, but it makes a great lamp and coffee table surface!
