Good morning all.

An overcast morning so far. Hopefully will improve seeing as I have a load of washing on the go!

It was nice to have a day away yesterday, passing through fog on the Kaimais into the sunny Waikato. The road was easygoing with not too much traffic to contend with. A traffic jam at the door though, going in to see my mother at visiting time with swab testing happening!

A trip to Bunnings planned to get some bits and pieces including veg and flower seedlings. The flowers for my half wine barrels that have been sitting empty for the last month, now nice and damp ready for replanting.

I've know a few people with fingers (or half) missing. My DH came close with his wedding ring, a lesson to take it off out working. I went to school with someone who had their heel missing after getting the foot run over with the lawnmower as a toddler  Sad

Have a good day.
Good morning - still a bit of drizzle around and definitely a bit chilly - just been out to check my veggiepod - I spread a packet of lettuce and carrot seeds that were short dated on Tuesday - I have a carpet of seedlings already popped up - thinning them is going to be a nightmare - won’t do that again - I thought I would be lucky if any were still viable - the seeds were dated 2019 my sister found them amongst Mums stuff she’s probably up there having a chuckle
The worst thing about my Dad chopping his fingers off he could no longer play the bagpipes so he swapped to that great big drum - I don’t think he was very good at it but his enthusiasm got him through - often he would wince when he missed a beat
Only have the ends to do on the blanket so will do that today - was looking forward to watching the new series of Bridgerton - watched the first episode last night - very disappointing they should have stopped at the end of series 1 - storyline is so weak - costuming is beautiful though
Well coffee machine is beeping
Oh I cannot imagine dealing with a missing heel. I have enough challenges with a fused ankle! Mind you, I noticed yesterday my feet and ankles have lost their summer puffiness and I have one elegant foot and one notquitesofat one, which is a rather nice thing in these years of slowly and not so slowly falling apart at the seams. It inspired me to give some thought and time to browsing ankle boot listings on Trademe, and I have found a pair - well a couple really, that do appeal to me.

But I wonder, is 70 too old to be wearing black combat boots? Even if I swap out the standard laces for red satin ribbons? They have zips as well...

Nonsense - of course 70 isn't too old for boots, of any kind. There is no age which is 'too old for boots'. Smile
I still wear them at every opportunity, although I prefer calf length & I'm presently wearing my oldest pair, (bought around 2000 I think it was)  sort of 'cowboy' boots, despite having been made in India.
They have moon & stars on, & when she was younger, one of my granddaughters used to refer to them as 'gran's witchy cowboy boots'. Big Grin

Like me, they're getting older but still have some wear in them, & have only been re soled once; from memory they were around the $100-$150 mark back then so have done quite well.
Wear boots! Wink Big Grin
lol oh_hunnihunni, never! You are never to old to wear those boots! You go girl lol

I have sorted out the curve in the garden that didn't sit too well with me. My sister-in-law pointed out to me where it wasn't right and how to fix it and that was the light bulb moment. Sometimes I can't see for looking lol. So three hours later I have another pile of concrete fill (oh yay) to get rid of. I am so damed over this concrete. Just when I think I've gotten rid of it. Now I'm thinking when MrK falls off his perch I'll get rid of the concrete edging and not have one. He likes it (sigh) and thinks of the $$$ to get rid of it. So far though it has only cost hard work. The lawn edges are half done, I'll finish them tomorrow. I think lugging and breaking large concrete pieces, back filling the new edge and moving small river stones is enough for today. The lawn desperately needs mowing but that can wait too.

Better get the dishes done and have a shower before lunch. Smile
I wear boots, a lot of them, truth be told - but the combat style is making me wonder. Thing is the laces AND zip means I can adjust them to fit the bionic foot and leg, as well as the other one so very tempting.

I shall see if anyone outbids me! And then decide to fight over them or let the universe decide, lol...

And yes, dishes and shower sound like a very good idea!
Go for it Hunnihunni. Ill cross my fingers you win the auction.. And I love the idea of using ribbons rather than laces.

I wish I could wear boots but unfortunately I inherited my maternal grandmothers "Kauri Stump" legs and ankles. Short and fat lol.. Although I have wonderful arches, but no one sees those lol.

Ive done the "cookie" baking and very pleased with all. The ginger snaps worked good but they need at least double the amount of ginger. MrP will like them as they are tho. But I will now write the recipe into my book. Decided to make some cheese muffins for my lunch.. Haven't made them for a while, didnt bother with a recipe and they turned out well. I was a right guts and ate 3 while still hot with real butter on.. Yumm.. So no dinner for me tonight.

Ive got my leg up with a cold Hottie , but it has behaved nicely. I thought it might be worse.

Enjoy your afternoon everyone.
morning ladies Smile  Another calm start to the morning, it's been lovely not having the wind.

I wear boots too but thanks to having an ankle ligament reconstruction 22 years ago I have one fat ugly ankle and one 'regular' ankle.  Because of this I have problems finding boots that can fit over the fat ugly ankle and can't fit zipped boots.  I have a pair of pull on ankle boots I have had resoled several times as they are easy to wear.  It also means I have to try boots on before I buy so can't buy online.  On the plus side, I don't sprain my ankle nearly as often as I used too.

Autum is in the air and I think this is our last week of daylight saving  Sad and it also means interesting things are happening in the garden.  We spotted some toadstools the other day and then yesterday some interesting (well I thought they were lol) grey fungi.  When MrK saw them they were flat but by the time I got the camera and came back, they had curled their edges up.  I thought I would share the pics with you as they have interesting lines, shapes and colours.  Inspirational for embroidery  Heart

I'm still working on under the wing of the falcon and should finish that part some time today.  Then I can begin embroidering from the falcon's shoulder down the outer part of his wing.  Am happy with it so far  Smile

Morning everyone

The season is def changing and Im loving it.

Love the toad stills Kiwimade. Beautiful photos.

Off to See MrP this morning. But I have a date with the oven before I go. Date scones on the agenda for our lunches. I will cut his hair while Im there. Its starting to look very long.

Wasn't the story on the Topp twins sad last night. Had me bawling .. The Twin thing for me and mine is becoming more stronger the older we get. I fully "get" what they were saying about being apart. My twin Brother is in Brisbane. And especially now that he lost his Wife to Cancer in January we have been in contact far more then ever before.

I better get moving and then throw these scones in the oven..

Have a fab day everyone
Morning all
Bright but a sprinkle of moisture on car windscreen while driving home.

KM interesting fungi candidates for embroidery project one day???

Yum dates scones a favorite in this house.

Made another long s,eeved onsie yesterday  I think these are good as they don't ride up like tshirts do.

Met my knitting Waterloo last night just can't figure out the instructions. Very annoying as it is 10 rows in not sure what I will do. I learnt to knit when I was six and have managed all sorts of complicated patterns I will try again later today perhaps fresher eyes and brain might help. Might be calling on you lot here for help Big Grin

DH has medical appointment this morning not sure whatnI will do this afternoon

Have a good day
Good morning all.

A definite autumm feel this morning and the need for a jacket on the school run! Hopefully it warms up enough later to plant out the lobelia and snapdragons I got from bunnings for the barrels ... gd 'helping'!

A series of embroidered fungi would look great Kiwimade .... I like the idea of embroidering flowers, but I need to walk before I run first, lol!

Yes, that was a sad Sunday episode regarding the Topp twins ... here's hoping their treatment is beneficial.

Have a good day.
We are at that age when Time starts to find ways to slow us down before we fade away, like the toadstools. I don't mind it so much except when it happens too soon, to the younger ones among us. I have a lovely friend in Brisbane who has survived breast cancer twice, and now her docs suspect it is back. She has just had her 50th, it is very unfair. Another friend is dealing with liver cancer, but she's late 70s and it seems so much easier - more appropriate somehow, to deal with it at that age. Or am I being ageist?

Still, I remain convinced I'd rather have cancer than dementia, if I ever get to choose. Best out of all though a nice quiet departure in my sleep, lol, I never was much good at patient suffering!

And on a side note, so nice to come across someone else who understands the trials of good foot bad foot when it comes to shoes and boots kiwimade! And you are right, at least we can still walk without wobbling the weak one yet again! Boot auction today, someone is trying to outbid me already, so keep all digits crossed for me ladies, looks like a gorgeous autumn day out there!
Boy time flies when out in the garden Big Grin We have a very old corn husker and MrK has it bolted to an old fence post. The fence post is coming close to it's use by day so I have made a new space for the next post in the 'old new' garden - the corner I had the digger in. I've always felt that space needed something special and it was right under my nose the whole time.

I was thinking along the same lines, mica. A series on the fungi we have had in the garden would be fun to do and something different. Roma, you can do it lol. It doesn't matter what your flowers look like, it's the learning and the journey that matters.

Very very sad about the Topp Twins. Their grief for each other is immeasurable, I hope they either pass together or they both get through this terrible journey. I can't imagine them being without the other. Dementia really scares me. Not being able to remember family and friends is unthinkable. My sister-in-law's husband had dementia and it was awful watching him trying to remember and asking the same questions over and over and over. He was so frustrated.

Kettle's boiled, time for a well earned cuppa.
Lovely fungi images, KM.
Saw the Topp twins item last night; hope they may be able to get together soon, if covid eases off, & that their treatment goes well. Those two have been around so long & are a big part of Kiwi history; I wouldn't be too surprised if when they finally die, its fairly close together.
Good luck with the boots Hunni, fingers crossed.
Mine! Cost me a bit over the odds but they are good boots, so I'm not too cross with myself...

Excellent result then.  Wink

Awesome. Do enjoy.!!
morning ladies Smile I was awake early to see Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and a quarter crescent of the moon line up in a row but sadly the skies were too cloudy to see it.

I'm glad you won the boots, oh_hunnihunni, let there be many happy years of wearing them!

I saw Will Smth slap Chris Rock on the news last evening and thought, that's one way to get an audience. Sad he felt he had to hot someone though. Don't we teach our kids to use their words, not fists? And also sad that it has overshadowed Jane Campion's win. I loved her movie but MrK hated it. He just found the story line long and dull and said he felt he had to wade through a lot of 'cr**' to get to the twist in the end. But I love a story that has a long burn to it, where little hints are scattered through out.

Today I have some clean plastic garden pots to take to Mitre 10 for recycling. Of course, it's anther way for Mitre 10 to have customers through their doors but it's no different to Countdown taking soft plastics I suppose. And I must take the rest of the recycling in as well.

Yesterday I finished under the falcon's wing and am happy with it. MrK is still building my stand. It will take a bit of getting used to but I like the idea where both of my hands are free and it should take the pressure off my shoulder.

Time to get organised for the day. Washing machine has beeped and coffee is finished.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning all
Bright sunny here

Had a full day yesterday gym, DD over to collect my spare square up ruler, then after lunch  DS asked if I wanted to go to the zoo with him and DGS. You all know how hilly the Wellington zoo is. So I slept well last night Cool
Decided not to persevere with knitting pattern ripped it out and started a different pattern much better Big Grin
Showed my knitting friend and she couldn't follow it either so don't feel too bad/dumb

Got some friends coming for lunch today soup and chocolate cake

Neighbour has covid they went to a funeral in Taranaki 100 people and one of the relatives hosted people in their home and attended knowingnthat they were +ve  total dipstick.

Glad the boots were won  Big Grin

Off to vacuum and ice the cake

Have a good day
Morning everyone.

That would have been cool to see , if you had been able to Kiwimade.

Yeah Will smith made a total dick of himself, then turning the tears on later just made it worse in my Opinion. Ive always thought he was a bit "precious" with a big opinion of himself.

The visit went well with MrP and Bobbie yesterday. The bedroom on the shared en-suite has been allocated unfortunately, so they will have to stay where they are. They went outside for a walk yesterday. I asked them at the meeting if they could take MrP out in his wheelchair and Bobbie go with them. so carer was pushing MrP. And he loved it. I got his hair cut so he looks heaps better. They enjoyed their date scones I took up. And I must say I did too lol.

Im going to paint later. Time is whizzing by and it will be his birthday soon enough lol.

Have a fab day everyone
