I have Kuaka and Sunflowers on my fb.

Haven't seen Sunflowers for a wee while now I think of it. but Kuaka is going well. Shes been selling garden pots on there, so might be downsizing too lol
First sweetpeas showing colour in the bud, and I have a flower on the single surviving hollyhock, despite slugs finding the leaves irresistable, and I think the quince flowers may have fruit set - might be too early to declare it, but I have hope. If only I could say the same for our avocado, but I think the wind has destroyed the first flowers. Still, next year...
morning ladies Smile It's overcast... do I or don't I put the hose on the garden...hmmm

Yeah, I think it was Jenny reading the midday news, popeye. I tune her out now too.

I have kuaka and sunflowers on my FB page too and 'see' them occasionally. I read in one of kuaka's posts she is thinking of downsizing.

We have another family member thinking of downsizing also. Makes me very glad we did it pretty much as soon as our youngest left home. It was on a whim that we sold our home lol. Woke up one Saturday morning and I said, let's sell and find something smaller. MrK, to my surprise, said, good idea, let's get our friend (a real estate agent then) to sell it. Three weeks later we had moved. There was no time for mucking about that's for sure. TM made a killing in fees from us as we sold a lot of furniture and stuff.

I bet your Ukranian family are missing their dad, JanW Heart And fingers and everything crossed he comes home soon. The Furry One says thank you for the update on the smackos lol and thinks he will follow Madam le Dog's advice and try the peanut butter treats his mum can buy online as well as the straps from the supermarket. Spoilt or what lol. Staffis are great dogs, your brother and his wife will have a very loyal dog for life.

The dahlias are starting poke through the ground, thank goodness they missed the late frost, and one of the azaleas I moved the other day has a flower on it Big Grin

Housework today then I can spend some time on the kotare/kingfisher. We had a mad influx of flies last evening. The big buzzy ones so I have heaps of them to vacum up this morning.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning everyone

Its a little cloudy but no rain as yet.. When I compare Waiuku to other places we have lived we dont get a lot of rain here.

Downsizing is good. When we moved into our mobile home we cut down to the basics.. And even tho I like my stuff the odd times we have stayed in motels I always said to MrP that Just having 4 of everything in the kitchen really is all you need.

Kiwimade your 3 weeks beat my parents 1 month to move.. And I thought that was pretty fast. No such thing as trade me that time tho. Or when we went into the bus.

Im sitting here feeling very sorry for myself. The pain is unbearable. But Ive had meds so hopefully they will kick in fast... I live with hope that one day I wont have this pain. Thankfully the meds also help with my back, that doesnt seem to bother me as much since I lost weight too which is wonderful.

Gosh I got a surprise last night. I had a feeling that Kiwibank charged you $1 to make more than one over the counter deposit a month.. But its now $3.. And as its the only way I can get money into my TSB bank, as they closed outer branches, I have to deposit into Kiwibank and then pay myself to the TSB. But Im not going to pay $3, so Ill wait till the 1st of November and do it. Rip offs. So I will eek out my joint cream.

Off to see MrP and Bobbie. Yes I could easily stay home but he has been good the last couple of days. Including being cheeky and joking last night. So that will be all I do today.

Have a fab day everyone
Good morning.

Gorgeous day again.

Sometimes,  I think it would be good to downsize especially from the housework perspective! At least the garden is a massive downsize from rural life! At the moment it's a good gathering place for the ever increasing whanau!

Fingers crossed that the dad can get home sooner rather than later Jan.

I've just told my DIL 2B about the bee sting honey remedy. She got stung yesterday and nothing working for relief  Sad

Lol, I check my emerging dahlias each day, mainly for slug/snail invasion!

Time for dog walk before it heats up.

Enjoy the day all.
Downsizing is an interesting process. At one stage in Auckland we were three generations in a five bedroomed house and within ten years I went from that to this 30 sq m studio flat. And it is not furnished minimally, lol. But slowly I am getting things sorted, as time goes by I can let precious things go more easily.

This morning though, while the washing works its way through the machines I have repaired the bottom beam on my wooden slat bed. The beam is fixed to the legs with dowels, which have dried out over the years and are inclined to separate in the joint at each end. A cabinet maker lives on my scooting route so I accosted the poor man when I was out and asked if my proposed fix (wood gluing dowels and beam faces) would be enough or did I need to screw as well... Seeing I am not handy with power tools I was delighted when he told me gluing would work fine, and he suggested I be generous with it so as to seal the edges of the joint. No gap allowed. So that is what I did this morning, bent double, lots of swearing, and very pleased I held on to my rawhide mallet from all those years ago. Perfect for tapping wood joints open without leaving dent marks. So now I just have to live with the bedding chaos for twelve hours to let the glue cure and then I can test my efforts...

Very satisfying job jobbed!
Morning all
Raining which is a pity as there is a market day being held in our local main street

This site was down for long time yesterday went to post and poof

Went   into cbd yesterday all masked up as a  cruise ship in town lots of people with cameras walking around.

Bought chicken summer roll for lunch from Vietnamese Place I used to frequent when I worked in city yummy with satay sauce

You lot here are evidence us women can turn our hand to most things  Big Grin : Cool

Re Shmacko treats my local Countdown had multi flavoured packs for $16 when I did my food shop on way home

I buy the k9 treats from Petfood Club have monthly delivery of pigs ears and k9 cookies. DH cuts the ears up into halves or thirds, two get the ears the other the cookies  because he just hides and guards any ears he is given

Having a slow start this morning with a cup of tea kindly supplied by DH going to cruise sewing stuff before I get out of bed.

Enjoy your day

Have good day
The bed held together overnight, so I declare that a success, though I will give it a wee stress test once I have my contacts in. Looking like a quiet silver day out there, so I might so a bit of vacking...

Not a lot else on the cards today.
morning ladies Smile We have a bit of rain, long overdue as the garden is so dry!

Well done with the bed, OHH Big Grin How satisfying to repair it yourself.

Popeye texted me yesterday asking about the site and saying it was down. I hadn't noticed as my nose was in a David Baldacci book we borrowed from my sister-in-law. We'll be seeing her next week so if I can finish it, she can take it home with her.

I thought today I might have a tutu with this triangle pouch/purse. It's made out of five or six inch squares and I thought it would be a nice little stocking stuffer filled with lollies or small bits and bobs. And it's a good way to use up those scrappy bits of fabric and the gazillion zips I was given years ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_1xOlgh...nxGuCUhedM

I'm up to the kotare/kingfisher's tail Big Grin It has to be stitched before I can finish the flight feathers on the wing as the tail and bum are tucked under the wings. And I need to find a closeup photo of the feet so I can see how the claws look. The photo I am using is dark and it's hard to see them. But overall, it's starting to take shape and if we have a couple of wet days, I should be able to finish it or at least get close to finishing.

Happy craftingSmile
It’s warming up already- heading to 27 today so off to put out washing, machine just beeped, then a bit of a potter in the garden before it gets too warm.

Sister is getting new carpet next week so I’ll go and help her empty drawers etc so furniture is a bit easier to move she has already put several boxes of stuff in my garage and the contents of her deep freeze will come into mine this pm to make it lighter. I’m hoping to gain a few of her lettuce seedlings as “payment”  Big Grin
Good morning.

Has been drizzling, with the sun trying to come out.  We are expecting rain today, even though it's very warm already. Pleased that the garden is getting a free watering.

Well done with the bed repair OHH, clever you.

Mica, imagine being on one of those Cruise Ships with Covid on the loose ... the confinement alone would drive me bonkers! That's if the rules are followed!

I think it will be a 'vacking' day here as well, needs must! Baking also awaits, I didn't get to it as planned.

Back to baby cardi knitting ... determined to not let baby beat me.

Better duck out for dog walk while it's clear.

Enjoy the day all.
Morning everyone

Still no rain here.. send it our way Pleeease lol. It is warm tho.

Im hoping that I won't suffer with the heat as much this summer, without the 47 kilo blanket I was wearing lol.

Awesome re the bed Ohh.. Us gals can do anything lol..

Ive taken a few photos of things to sell already, they were mostly in the garage so did it while I put the washing on.. Bog load lol 2 tops I got from the oppy yesterday. one had a mark on and is all white so I soaked that. Fingers crossed it came out. Managed to get another red pillowcase so Im just about set with my red linen.

MrP has been in a good mood for the last 3 days now... I hope its the same today. It makes it soo much easier on me. I have my weekend off now which I enjoy.

I discovered on my pain killer packet that I can take them 4 hourly now. Which will make my life soo much better. Sadly i have another bruise near my ankle, I did it on the walker wheel when visiting yesterday. But the place it is makes it harder to find a good spot for the bung knee and the massive one lol.. Wish I could just unclip the leg, hang it up and leave it there while Im sitting lol.

Was a 2 car crash on the Kaimais yesterday one dead sadly. I hate that piece of road.

Have a fab day everyone
An update on my kotare/kingfisher Smile

He's going to be a beauty KM, will you frame him?
Oh KM your kotere is so beautiful
Thanks for work in progress peek

Kitchen and bathroom cleaned vacuum after a wee 5 min rest
Cheers for that Mica, with luck schmackos will arrive down here eventually. Smile

KM, your Kotare is looking gorgeous.

Managed to get tomatoes planted yesterday & put mulch around them, still got quite a few left so may need to extent garden a bit & give the rest away; sweetie darling might want them with any luck.
Site was down for quite a while yesterday, longer than I'd expected but good to see it back again.
It reminds us of its value, these tiny wobbles...
Thanks Roma and Mica, yes, I am going to frame him, and he will go next to the fantail.

Seven police cars went screaming by our home yesterday to that car crash on the Kaimais, popeye. You know it's bad when the traffic stops. Both lanes were closed. There was also another fatality just north of Matamata on SH 27 yesterday as well.
It has Rained... woohoo.

Enough to stop the tv for about 5 minutes lol

It did! The pots and the garden got a good slow soak, with a side order of thunder. I finished the movie, played on the sewing machine, cooked asparagus mornay for dinner (burp!), and didn't vack. But the rug is covered in threads now, so tomorrow for sure.

Unless I sew some more that is! Now I have my mojo back! Now a fluffy coffee reward I think...
