Oh Jan, I am so sorry to hear this.

One of the first lessons I had in grief was realising that once the fuss dies down, the world just rumbles on regardless and those in trouble are simply forgotten about.

It is an incredibly hard lesson.
Did they give you 60 days notice Hunni? I think thats the law.

Decided to make cakes for my birthday.. Stupidly I only decided today... So I'm sitting with my pain. Both egg free. Banana and chocolate cakes.

Will read your post Jan when Im stronger... I sometimes bury my head but I want you to know, I know what its like. It hurts like Hell and its ok to be sad, angry, frustrated and the whole lot.
That's just awful, Jan. It seems that after any disaster there's an initial rush to help which slows & then eventually becomes a trickle in fits & starts. I'm really shocked though that Red Cross is reluctant to get off their bums & help; they're usually the one source which can be counted on to help everyone regardless of circumstances.

I hope those affected can somehow get media attention about this; it should never have been allowed to reach such a stage & is a bloody disgrace that so many have opted for suicide.
Wow,

Talk about people being left high and dry.. I could feel such immense anger but also drive.

I hope to see John Campbell, talking to people. Cos he isn't scared to tell it like it is.

I asked a couple of friends if they had seen the Redcross at all in all the footage there has been on Tv.. None of us had.

And as for the Mayoral fund being closed tomorrow night.. I kinda think people are busy trying to restore their life, which will take a long time. There simply shouldn't be a cut off time. No one will know what is damaged or missing for many months yet.

Hugs for you Jan.. It certainly cant be easy... I will share your page to get the word out. The one person I know over your way is out of the country at the mo but Ill make sure she sees it.
Good Morning everyone,

No didnt wet the bed lol... Just have a bit to do today.

Bloods very shortly and then home to cut cake and get ready to go and get fish and chips for our lunch together, then up to the girls , hoping to catch them at lunchtime with cake too.

The Royal Hype has started.. Wont be forgetting the date that's for sure. Smack in-between 4 birthdays in our mixed clan. Us today, his "adopted" to the family Brother and MrP's Sister was Sunday and his eldest granddaughter on the same day.

The last bulb blew in the hallway yesterday, went and asked if the Neighbours hubby could come and put new ones in. She said yes but he didn't arrive. So might have to ask someone else.

Have an awesome day everyone. Ill be the crinkly one at the end of the day.
morning ladies Smile And there's more rain...

Happy birthday, popeye Smile I hope you have a great day today Smile

Today I need to call Harvey Norman and tell them the brand spanking new oven has died. The elements aren't working. Believe me when I say the air was blue last evening.

Total incompetence, OHH. To date a letter to a future date, wrong address and spell your name wrong? We were watching that programme 'Sunday' the other week where they were looking at pensioner poverty. One of the ladies said as soon as we have a pay rise, within two weeks my rent goes up. This sounds very similar to you.

Jan, I am so sorry to hear what is happening to people affected by the cyclone. I really have no words. Heart Heart
Morning all
Still wet here supposed to clear this afternoon

Belated happy birthday KM, bummer about your new appliance, I hope it gets sorted quickly.

JanW I am so sorry Heart its very difficult times.

OHH so many mistakes couldn't hold their excitement at raising the rent pity the improvement didn't have the same urgency.

Busy day yesterday and another one have a big shop today as we seem to have run out of everything

Looking forward to meeting friends for dinner tonight they live 1 hour up the coast so quick zip on the expressway.

Need to hem the 6 merino singlets that I have made for The Nest, Collective still have lots red  merino scraps that  was left for me last week . I will try and make a batch once a month till they are used up.

Have a good day

Today I need to call Harvey Norman and tell them the brand spanking new oven has died.  The elements aren't working.  Believe me when I say the air was blue last evening.

Total incompetence, OHH.  To date a letter to a future date, wrong address and spell your name wrong?  We were watching that programme 'Sunday' the other week where they were looking at pensioner poverty.  One of the ladies said as soon as we have a pay rise, within two weeks my rent goes up.  This sounds very similar to you.

The landlords use the legislated maximum rent - 30%of gross primary income - as their guide and as soon as we get a super raise the rent goes up. It ignores many factors, but there is nothing we can do about it, and it is always done to the letter of the law. On top of our rent, they also get around $300 government funding per tenant per week, so it is a good earner for Selwyn Trust. No wonder they are eager to get the contracts for new social housing builds.

But, we are very fortunate as tenants, despite my regular vents here. We have safe secure housing, at rents we can afford, and we cannot be moved unless we are truly stupid with the rules. If disaster happens, like the floods, we have to be housed elsewhere immediately, so we are a great deal more blessed than many - and the waiting list is long. So it may have lots of downsides, but really, for those of us with very limited options it is a saving grace. I just wish they had better management.
kiwimade64, check the timer settings and programmer, you have probably knocked the correct setting to off when wiping the panel.
Good morning.

Overcast ... could be rain later on.

Happy birthday Popeye ... enjoy your day  Smile

That's terrible to hear Jan, those poor people with their whole lives destroyed and no end in sight. I hope their plight comes to media attention so there is more action to help.

We watched that Sunday episode also KM, I feel very lucky my nearly 70 yo dh is still able to do casual work several days/week despite various physical ailments. Damn about your oven ... how frustrating as you were probably trying to prepare a meal! Hope it's sorted quick smart.

Will decide on a plan after gs dropped off at school. Such a lovely day yesterday, nice to be missing out on the rain but feel for them back home.

Enjoy the day all.
Thank you everyone

It's been lovely. the home had table set for us in the dining room. A cupcake with a candle and sung happy Birthday. It was lovely.

Then the ladies at the other home gave me a box of choccies. Didn't talk to Bobbie much cos the music was on so I told her I would see her another day. But She had cake.

Ohh the eggless banana cake was lovely. It's on the Chelsea sugar website. Meant to have ground ginger and cinnamon in, but I didn't put them in this time as MrP doesn't like Ginger. but you couldn't tell there weren't any eggs or butter. It's a small cake I just made it in a square tin. I'll write it into my book's now I've tested it.

I unwrapped my new 50sih years old Tupperware bowls, taken the labels off the lids and have them on my display. Two square rounds and one small tumbler to get and that's my display.. I'm patient and I know it will happen one day.

https://www.chelsea.co.nz/browse-recipes...airy-free/ You can use any milk. also doesn't have butter
Happy birthday Popeye, hope you have a lovely day. Smile The cake sounds yummy & easy too.

Miserable here especially after it being so warm earlier in the week, but Madame Le Dog has made a new friend - new neighbours down the street have a very friendly dog who rushes out to say hello when we go past.

Within the letter of the law it may well be Hunni - but what it is is plain greed, imo. The miserable sods must be well aware they're causing difficulty for tenants every time they raise the rent yet continue to do so, because they can. And because our greed based system says its legal. Bastards.
But - its a roof over the heads as you say, & so better than living in the park.

Thanks Lilith.

And I totally agree.  Im waiting for my next increase, but Im not sure how often they are allowed to do it. But the stupid thing is this big house, which is miles to big for me is dare I say it Cheaper than anywhere else now
Once every twelve months, with 60 days minimum notice...

I got a reply to my email, lol. A long list of excuses - including tenants abused contractors (!?)and no, no rent reduction.

So I have popped the letter on the noticeboard in the laundry for everyone to have a good giggle...

Bad hunni. Bad bad bad...
Morning all
Another wet day

Belated happy birthday Popeye.

Hope your oven/cooktop is functioning again KM

Had lovely evening with friends last night.
Need to tidy up a bit today and my sewing room and machines need a good vacuum.

Not sure what else I will get up too no DH at home he is at DD dog sitting and doing some painting while he is there.

Enjoy your day
morning ladies Smile It's a bit clearer outside, I might have a go at mowing the lawn. Now that's going to be a mission.

The oven is working, it was electrical and not me Big Grin The oven was well and truly still under warranty so no charge to us. And yes, roma, MrK was cooking my birthday dinner when it all went pear shaped. We ended up getting the camp cooker out lol and finished cooking using that. We use the camp cooker a lot as we have power cuts.

We have two chrysalis' now Smile The first was starting to blacken yesterday so won't be far away from morphing into those beautiful butterflies. The last three caterpillars are munching away and getting fatter. It always amazes me how nature works.

Time to get cracking and make the most of the break in the weather. It will be good to be outside too.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning everyone

Grey here, not cold tho.

Oh Hunni Id have done the same thing.. They know that if anyone felt the need to move, they would have a new tenant within hours.

Glad the Stove is sorted Kiwimade. Rather frustrating for sure. I love watching the process of nature.. Its the simple things in life that make it worth living.

My plans are pretty cruisy for the weekend. I may see a school friend today, to pick up a newspaper she doesn't get which has an article about her uncle being the Oldest Living baby from the rest home MrP is in. And Im hoping Erin will be around to change the lightbulbs in for me. The neighbour's must have forgotten.

May have to nip up to the supermarket to get a couple more bottles of drink, while on special. If they have any, cos they are good at not having it.

Was talking to MrP last night, I think he must have dropped his phone. But he hasn't hung it up. So I rang the home and asked them to check, I gave up trying to ring about 2 hours later cos I didn't want to wake the boys.

Have a fab day everyone

He has broken the charging point by the sounds of it. Got shitty when I said we can't afford another one. And hung up. He was using their phone.. My fault of course, he should be at home and not need one blah blah blah.

I will look at all our other chargers, when I feel like it, But Im not taking any up until Monday.. Im having my weekend off. And tough for him.. he will insist on messing with things.
Good that your stove is sorted KM, & so it should be.

Youngest great granddaughter's third birthday - no clue where the time went but she was pleased with her presents so all good.

Haven't done much apart from dog walk earlier & a bit of washing.
morning ladies Smile More rain....

We're both a bit bleary eyed this morning as we watched the coronation. Neither of us are royal fans but felt we should watch history being made. And the Brits know how to do pomp.

Today I have a small area that needs weeding so we can plant the camellia we bought the other day. MrK wants to espalier it so we have espaliered camellias mostly along the roadside. Easy care and flat to the fence for easy mowing.

My sewing machine needs a good service, it's running roughly. No machine sewing until I can get it done. I'll take it with me to the Janome place in Hamilton and they send it to Auckland. Hopefully it will be back reasonably quickly.

Our neighbour's large dog stuck her head through the Furry One's doggy door this morning wanting to be let in. She's stretched out on the floor with the Furry One. I suppose I should let them know she is here but they are so blasé about her wandering.

Happy crafting Smile
Morning all
The rain may have stopped.

We watched the coronation until 11pm last night  cant beat the pomp and ceremony.

Espaliered camelia sound nice.

Sewing machines got good spa treatment yesterday. I cut out and sewed some ponti pants, New to me pattern not too bad. Fit might need small tweak but this pair will be comfy to wear at home.

Neither of us felt like cooking last night so we ate out at local Thai place which is usually very busy on Saturday night it was very quiet as was the other local Chinese sign of economic times ?

Not sure what I will get up to today  feel a baby quilt might be on the agenda.

Enjoy your day
