morning ladies Smile It's going to be a scorcher today. MrK is out watering the vegie garden and when he's finished with the hose, I'll be using it on the garden pots.

Today is the day the Christmas shopping gets finished. Well, that's the plan, anyway. And we start looking after our friend's dogs for a week this afternoon. MrK has told them this will be the last time he does this as he's getting wobbly on his feet and two big dogs jumping up at him (naughty dogs!) will bowl him over eventually.

Our granddaughter is reading The Hobbit much to my delight as I love Tolkien. And she is smitten with the characters and thoroughly enjoying it. Another generation of Tolkien fans lol. Seeing as I bought her brother a NASA t shirt, I think I'll pop out to Hobbiton and buy her a Lord of the Rings t shirt for Christmas. I'm wondering if reading tastes are in the genes as our granddaughter is the third generation fantasy reader. Tongue

MrK is finished with the hose, better head outside and water before the day becomes too hot.
Morning everyone

Yesterday was a stinker. I was surprised by the cracks in the ground especially down the back fence. There are Well established trees right down and the cracks on our side of the fence are massive. The hill is on their side. Its a terrible section. Hope no more trees fall through the fence.

Off to see everyone today. The Manager rang yesterday to ask about cheese for MrP. Apparently he was grumpy cos he didn't have any yesterday, and could I get a block to keep there for him. When I spoke to him he was fine lol.

I didn't do anything yesterday, and it was good for the bones lol.

I've never been into fantasy. I pretty much only read what can actually happen in real life. I dont have the imagination to read anything like that.

Have a fab day all
Morning all
Sunny with stiff breeze

Glad MrP more comfortable and that Bobbie sorted Popeye.

DGS and his dad popped in with spring onions that he had grown, he told me he left the bulb bit in the garden as they will grow again so we will get some more when that happens. DGS turns 6 end of the month and loves growing things

Efficient morning so far been to gym, swear trainer stays awake at night to plot and scheme what exercises to do
Had my Xmas leg wax not that there is much there these days but it sprouts in other places where I definitely  don't want it   Shy

DH off to golf and I plan on making the Xmas crackers now that I have enough toilet rolls, just put in chocolate and a lotto scratchie.
Have a couple of quilt ideas to use up some scraps so might dive into the scrap collection later today

Enjoy your day

That's excellent news KM, all my kids read it & also later on, The lord of the rings.
Which has just given me an idea; perhaps I should get a copy of The hobbit for the wee ones & put them away for when they're a bit older; you can never have too many books after all. Smile

Your trainer's probably an insomniac, Mica!

Was out early, had to go to two different malls so went as early as possible & managed to get the last painting printed, then on to the other one for dog biscuits - cheaper over there than elsewhere, & by the time I left there, it was starting to get really busy so very glad I'd gone early - way too many people at this time of year for me.
Hot as hell here today, stopping inside as far as possible.
In order to short circuit hose wars in the village (we have a hose abuser who refuses to put things back the way she found them, lol), I bought a hose cart so a neighbour and I can share a hose and have it stay uncreased... Ordered online Monday, arrive this morning, assembly required. This klutz managed to stuff that bit up at instruction part 3 of 8, so spent some valuable energy swearing at top before heading off for a restorative coffee. Then thought I would get booster number six before the holidays, tick that box. And as I left I had a small brainwave and called into the hardware shop and asked a nice gentleman there if he could help as I had done something stupid with the flat pack hose cart... He laughed, and told me he had also had one of those mornings, and after listening to my story suggested I bring the beastly bit in and he would see if he could sort it. Then he told me his bad morning story... he was showing an elderly lady customer how to attach a fish fertiliser bottle to a hose fitting when it exploded in his and her face, having fermented in the heat...

I felt so much better after that.
omggg OHH, I had to laugh at the fish fertiliser exploding, ommmggg the stench lol and in this heat too! lol

All Christmas shopping is done, presents are all wrapped and ready to be given away. Had a text from our daughter and they will be with us Boxing Day Heart so no need to post gifts. They wouldn't get there before Christmas anyway so I was going to post them in the New Year.

I was also leaving the mall as the crowds were arriving Big Grin Perfect timing and it also meant a great parking spot.

Better put the tree up. We weren't going to but seeing as everyone is arriving, it will be nice to have it done.
OMG YUCK... I dont even like the smell of fish cat food lol.

The last couple of days Ive been smelling curry. In the hallway. Goodness knows why. Maybe I need to speak to the spirits and tell them thats fine.. To ask before they use anything lol.

MrP had a tizzy so I left.

Bobbie was good, but her gap was starting to hurt but she kept putting her finger in so I gently told her off.

The bloody idiots didn't think to ask Winz to help pay for it. Since you can have up to $1000 for emergency treatment paid for, and not have to pay it back. Of which I confirmed when I came home. I had been telling the head nurse so I told her once I confirmed it I would let her know, which I have done.. So she knows in future for any of them there that they can do it for emergency treatment. My Question is why dont they know that..!!!

Its nice here with both doors wide open, there's a nice breeze blowing through and I will need to turn the fan off Im getting cold hands lol

Im avoiding shops, I might have to pop into NW , I need tissues and a battery for the scales, I think Im losing weight again.

So I wont ring the grumpy one tonight. And if he thinks that will make me sad then he hasnt learnt anything in the last few years lol.
I popped into NW... And popped out with a leg of lamb.

Christmas is going to be so tasty...

Ohhhh dear! Isn't it odd how other people's disasters can make us feel a bit better...until we do another one of our own! Big Grin
morning ladies Smile I was up at sparrows fart this morning to mow the lawn while the morning was still cool. One of the benefits of rural living we can mow anytime. Now the hose is on the garden and the birds are enjoying a morning dip.

This morning I thought I'd have a tutu with making Vietnamese spring rolls. Cheap as chips to make and if successful will be added to the Christmas Day menu. And I've just remembered my sistema cake carrier is in Whanganui, so I'll have to think of another option for carrying the pav. I like it as it has a high lid and keeps the goodies safe from being crushed.

Time to move the hose.
Morning all
Overcast and windy

Omg OHH I admit I laughed at your exploding fertiliser tale, poor participants

Lazy start this morning plan on doing supermarket run, roping DH in as he gets of lightly with all the Xmas prep he can lug the bags.
Made xmas crackers yesterday so another prep tick. Cut out and started piecing the cot quilt too.

Enjoy your day all
Morning everyone

A warmish start to the day.

I too am having a bit of a lazy start. Madam let me sleep in till 7am.lol.. nice of her to do that.

I managed to get Bobbies blue cardy off her yesterday. It had 1 button of 5. I managed to find 5 in a lighter blue but they were the only ones that went through the buttonholes. So I put those on and washed it. OMG the water was black. She wasn't keen on letting me have it, its a part of her dementia. but I dried it hanging in the doorway, so will drop it off this morning. Just at the desk. I dont want to visit today.

Ill leave a message for MrP that Im out and will ring later. The Oppy has a $1 sale on all clothing so Ill have a wee look in there. Also handy for buying buttons too.

I will take baking and sweets over next door if I have time otherwise Ill do that on the weekend.

Have a fab day everyone
Woken at the crack of dawn by the doctors telling me my rescheduled appt had to be rescheduled because the doc had covid. Rescheduled till January... Followed up with an email from Electric Kiwi closing my broadband account... eeeek! No broadband over Christmas??? So sorted that misunderstanding out (I am moving to Pulse in January, apparently someone jumped the gun, lol).

So before 8am my world had been shaken and stirred, let's hope nothing else disturbs the Force today.
Good morning.

Gorgeous day out there already.

I have 3 GC here while mum and dad are working. We have spent the morning setting up and playing croquet while the lawn is in shade ... the set I got quite a few years ago using flybuys points. Now they are colouring in, reading .... being quiet, lol! We have Christmas music on in the background.

That is one heck of a story OHH with the exploding, in their faces, fish fert ... how awful but also so damn funny!

Not much of the day will be me time today and it's looking like it will be too hot to be outside later.

Enjoy the day all.
Not the best start to the day then Hunni - never mind, it can only get better! Smile

I'd intended to get the back lawn mowed first thing but even that early its far too hot so hoping it cools down & I can get it done this evening. Took Madame Le Dog for an early walk instead.

Apparently Madame Le Cat has a new hobby - the study of anatomy. The remains of an very unfortunate & eviscerated mouse were spread tastefully around the back lawn this morning.
I'm hoping she limits it to smaller species; she's smacked Madame Le Dog round the chops a few times now which is slightly worrying.
After my leisurely start its been a good morning. But Ohh soo hot.

Dropped Bobbies cardy off without her seeing me which is good. Took a few groceries up to the Kai cupboard at the recycling center and it was leaving before I did.

Managed to get about 20 Tupperware lids free. I didn't bother to check them too closely and only two are in the recycling bin. People are always looking for lids. There's a couple of round ones that might fit some of my bowls too.

And managed to get 2 Turntables. One for the pantry and one for icing cakes on and display. Half price everything at the oppy.

Was soo packed at the oppy the temp was rediculous, I had to leave without looking at the clothes.

Finally spoke to the grumpy one. His phone is on and it seems no one there knows how to hang it up. Ill go see him and the Gang tomorrow.

Saturday I plan on ducking over to the mad butcher. I miss sausages and hellers seem to like revisiting me. I know the MB arent the best but I miss sausages.
Cats can be annoying, one of the cats around my lovely dog Stella would sometimes take a swipe at her face in passing which I would then follow up with a wrist flick on the offending cats bum so it got the idea that I did not approve of the behaviour.

Stella was always so good humoured and would always make nonplussed doggy smiles at me when the cat did this, I knew that the cat would be torn to pieces if Stella really wanted to retaliate as she was 50% red nosed pit bull and robust and fast moving, as Stella got older and slowed down which is when we got another cat who also swiped at Stella's face I was always worried that her eyes would be damaged because that is what cats go for in dogs and their delicate noses lol.
The hardware men fixed my stuff up. Or rather undid it, so I can try again. Wish me luck...
Madame Le Cat knows I disapprove of her smacking Madame Le Dog; she got a telling off yesterday so with luck (fingers crossed) she may just stop. She's decided that leaping onto the human's shoulder is an excellent idea - I had another cat years ago who did the same thing, so as long as no claws are involved its fine.

Managed to get the lawn done when it clouded over, really glad its out of the way.

Good luck, Hunni! Smile
I need a youtube video...

Two hours later...

I did it! One wheeled hose cart all together with no leftover bits. Do I recommend this product? It is really well made, quality product ideal for old ladies to wheel the hose around the garden, $45 from Trade Depot, so yes.

Just get a man in to put it together....
